Great video, showing that stud removal gives me some bad flashbacks from previous jobs 😂🤦🏻♂️
I really liked that fixture you made to drill straight in the stud. Good idea! Like always a new learning experience. Thank you
Neat trick with the guide collar. I usually pray and then drill. Sometimes finishing up the effort with a new part because I've buggered it.
thank you very much for showing how to drill center of the broken bolt. I have removed so many but never seen that trick. you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Healthy 2K21 guys keep it safe ....the build is slowly but surely taking shape...love the idea of the bush to centrally locate and remove broken studs ...learn something new daily..👍👍👍🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
My quick tip for snapped exaust manifold bolt remaining in the head, quick weld a nut centered next to/over it, you co2 weld inside of the nut so the nut welds to the snapped bolt, it doesnt weld to the aluminium. Spray immediately with warm water to cool down not to crack or warp the head, and leave it to cool down then unscrew with the welded nut. works everytime :)
Cool , another 940 on YT! Hello friend!
Great video to watch.
Great work. Another perfect example of an easy out not working. I really wish I didn't even own a set and so I quit getting my hopes up that one day it might work.
Great video, learnt something new with that locator to drill out the stud. Keep them coming.
Nice update guys. Not long until boost time now...
Happy New Year
Like the little ratchet handle for tap 👍
You can get a left hand drill bit to drill out studs in the head and other important places. I watched a video showing three ways to extract snapped bolts in the head.
Love the Volvo vids I’m also building a 940 Turbo drift car lol
A good bit of viewing on new years day away from family .happy new year to you and your dad Beth
Nice job
Happy new year to you both
Looking forward to seeing this thing lay some rubber in the not too distant future.
It will be good to see you fabricate your own manifold, that nightmare will be entertainment gold :)
Well done chaps, looking good cant wait to see it drift, full send !
Happy New Year guys, great video as always.
Great video and great explanation of what y’all are doing. Thanks for sharing!!!
I'd like to loan that manifold spacer/guide thing, very cool! Same stud at the front has snapped on mine.😢
Maybe Beth might make a few to sell to fellow volvo enthusiasts
Great vid as usual... Does the turbo not need a gasket between exhaust manifold and turbo?
Good work on the stud removal.. makes me nervous when i get a snaped stud or bolt to remove especially keeping it central like you explained.. happy new year look forwards to next vid.. stay safe👍
Nice work Guy's!
Happy new year to you and family have a great 2021 👍
interesting videos, great content and also learning lots of tricks through experienced mechanic/machinist. Happ new year
Great video as usual 👍. Happy New Year to you all
Happy new year.
There's always a classic manifold that needs grinding or modification to get good fitment. Reminds me of classic A series 998 mini manifolds with SU cards
Coming along nicely. would it not have been easier to weld on the stud and wind it out? 👍👍👍
Hi the stud was broken off inwards so would have been difficult to get a weld onto
Great idea with the centre jig for drilling the broken exhaust stud
when im drilling studs out i always use left handed drill bit more then a few times the heat from drilling has helped and the dril bit has been able to back the stud out rather then sending it deeper with a right handed drill bit
great vid....thanks
Beth you have grown so much as a mechanic and a film maker since I've started watching. You and your dad have produced more and more interesting videos, I'm excited when something new comes out. I must say it's wonderful to see such an attractive lady growing in competence and confidence on camera. Mark your daughter is a treasure, which I'm sure you know. Best of luck this next year.
Happy New Year.. Some nice tips there on how to drill out a stuck stud. Thanks 😊👍
I've got a snapped stud in the same place as yours. That collar you made up for drilling it out would be a great help, would you be able to make another and send it out to me? cheers
also, I found that using a flexible oil line for the feed worked better than the stock line (and avoided re-using a potentially clogged old line) when swapping the turbo on mine. It's a lot easier to get to the block fitting with the exhaust manifold off, might be worth replacing that and the drain line while you're there
Every day's a school day, today I've learnt how to drill and remove a broken stud correctly. I like the plug you made to get the pilot drill central, brilliant idea. All I need now is a lathe. Question for you, have you ever had any success with an easy out, because I certainly haven't, much to my disappointment. :-)
I have only had success with an easy out when the stud is easy to remove and not stuck in the threads, thats why i drill central as i know i will be drilling and chasing out the threads in the end
brilliant stuff !
I wish you , your Father and the people you care for a happy New Year . Funny thing . I watch your uploads with interest but actually I am not into modifying engines . I rebuild engines , turbo´s , gearboxes and do diagnostics but I never had the feeling or urge to prep a car for myself and to go drifting or off-roading . Don´t be offended . I just find it funny .
just discovered your channel.. really like your vids, nice builds.. am just in the process of puting an lsd kit in my sierra 2.0i dohc and slowly planing on puting a turbo :D
PARABÉNS. Não entendo o idioma de voces, mas tenho empresa no Brasil no ramo automotivo e sei que o trabalho de vocês tem paixão.
Awesome job, love it!
Great video as usual guys! Happy New Year to you all x
Happy New Year to you both! And again I learned something :-)
Great trick with the drilling aid. Thanks for that ..... Thumbs up !!
Good video happy new year to you both
Proper engineering there making the bush to drill out the stud. Most garages would just wing it
Just weld on a nut and take it out.
Another good video happy new year to you both
Nice save on the broken stud! I rarely have any success with easyouts, in fact they can make the job worse, no way you can drill into a broken one :(
Damm good video hope you guys had a good xmas ? lets hope the new year will be better than last lol
Yay, a new video. Happy new year❗
imagine getting those off when they are rusted and rounded.
Não dava pra fábrica um coletor mais adequado
👍👍👍
Hi, my son has a 1991 940 2.0 petrol, and also a parts car 940 2.3T Auto, at some point we are going to do an engine swap but at the moment we are stuck trying to find the right size of the UJ's for his 2.0 one, there seems to be a few different ones. You don't any advice do you please?...we may have to take his prop out and measure, then order but we would like to get parts first, also doing his pilot bearing and probably a clutch change. Any advice would be great thank you!!..Also...LOVE that you are working with your Dad!!..my lad has been helping me for donkeys years since he was a kid, I restore and repair/tune lambretta's and Vespa scooters.
Any update on the MK2 escort ??
Hi there will be an escort update video very soon
what LED torch you guys using, had a few recently but they are rubbish.
All the room in the world to work in that engine bay.
Happy new year 🤔
👍
- I’m scared.
- Really ?
- No.
whats happened to the MK2 escort
when are you getting back to the escort
Yo where can I find girls like this 😂
💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦
Happy New Year!
Some of the exhaust outlet to pipe fasteners on the big EE V engines can be very fiddly. They are 1/4BSF thread.
