- Winchester Model 1894 carbines in .30/30 were issued to the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers (P.C.M.R.) in World War II. They were located in both British Columbia and the Yukon, in Canada. This video covers these carbines in detail and the circumstances of why they were issued. The P.C.M.R. were issued with other weapons as well, but these are not covered in this video. The boys and men of the P.C.M.R. were a form of "Home Guard", locals who knew their areas and who could work with the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force in case the Japanese attacked British Columbia, Canada.
Was there any real danger given that Japan was over 7,000 Km away from B.C.?
What could Japan do to attack B.C.?
Did Japan ever attack anywhere here on the West Coast of North America?
Is it true that the Japanese invaded and captured part of the USA?
NOTE: These carbines were NOT marked "PCMR" as at least one Winchester reference book claims.

The first version of this video had technical problems, in that the last minute of the video was not uploaded, and so it had to be deleted. This is the full version. My apologies for any inconvenience. This is my second video and it is a learning process. (2024-05-15)
I was scrolling and this lovely rifle caught my eye , fantastic stuff.
Great presentation.
Looking forward to the next installment!!
Well done and informative on a quite rare WWII issued rifle.
Nice video of something I knew nothing of. Hats off to the brave men who served. Nice to see that older men did their part and to the government who would let them do it.
Great video, my dad (US) was 4F so didn't participate very much, he taught mechanics for vehicles. He found a bomb in the Lochsaw ranger district in 1955 while fishing.
Very informative video on a very "unknown" unit of WWII. Thank you, excellent.
I hope that it is OK if I share this? Thank you Sir - well presented.
ua-cam.com/video/zCqSY3jq4hk/v-deo.htmlsi=xP93lvWypnV93G3n Of course! My next video, CaptainStevens 003, which is in preparation, is on the SMG C1. More sniper rifles etc. videos to follow later. I was having technical difficulties, not unexpected as it is only my second UA-cam video and this "old dog" having to learn several "new to me" programs. One problem is that some links tagged along with links to videos by others. I tried to clean that up and here is a "clean" link to share (I hope!), which I found by searching by the title on UA-cam.
👍🏻
Very excellent and informative videio Collin. Canadian military anything is much appreciated. looking forward to your next video. Thank you.
Interesting piece of history.
Interesting story. It could be the basis for an Alistair MacLean style adventure novel. Japanese submarines land invasion force on the isolated B.C. coast.
This broken and busted old Paratrooper appreciates your video.
Very informative
OHHH wow now the Liberals will ban my 94 but a great video thank you sir!!! From a ex Canadian armoured recce NCO
If you served on Ferret Scout Cars in the Canadian Unarmed Forces I would like to communicate with you as I am researching them. See my web site www.CaptainStevens.com
@@CaptainStevens so sorry no Sir I was the M38
Guess you don't like 30-30 hunter stories.
I had to leave a lot out as this video was originally twice as long. I expect there are lots of videos about these fine firearms and their use … otherwise 7 million would not have been sold and the army issued examples are the minuscule minority.
What’s your point?
