I own an Automag V. It makes you appreciate the necessity of the Desert Eagle’s complex design. I’m scared to shoot this gun because it’s so lightly constructed given the cartridge it fires.
Great discussion on a very interesting pistol. Your points about safely firing that thing are all valid and spot on. I once had a range friend ask for his wife to fire my 1911. Something told me to load just a single round in the mag and sure enough she completely lost control of the pistol under recoil. Really glad I listened to my gut feeling! Take care brother.

I must admit it takes courage to tell it like it is and have a disregard for the public opinion! I like that about you, lol... Now lets talk about your favorite four letter word you use quite often at the end of your videos, you know it begins with the letter "F" that tells me you can become very testy quickly and I know you declare that pistol can be unsafe but what pistol is??? lol enjoyed the review. loved the "gun blowing up" worry. with the cartridge chambered and the light trigger, I don't let anyone uninitiated shoot my automag v. it's a handful. plus, mine tends to eject cases straight back at me, hitting forhead or crown of a baseball cap regularly so there's a lot going on with these firearms that can be distracting for accurate shooting. but after a while working with it and longer sessions developing handloads for it, i've developed a real liking for it and it's accuracy potential. be an awesome hog gun. I did have to replace the plastic grips to a set of wood grips from grips4u on both my automag vi and v because they were breaking under recoil. korey
Hi Jason, I enjoy your videos. At one point when you are showing the gun I could tell the sight roll pin is missing by seeing light thru the hole. If the roll pin had been present the sight would not have come off. With the amount of recoil the gun has the roll pin could have worked loose and fell out without being noticed because it is very small. Your right, the trigger pull is WAY too light. Very nice pistol, however not my cup of tea.

My LGS had one of these in the case for a long time. Cool looking pistol, but I've heard they are a nightmare mechanically.

I shot an AMT in 50AE, it wasn't bad. It did break, when I was shooting the hammer broke. They're cool, but I don't think they're made the best.

That is interesting. I could see the grips breaking or cracking.

You might be right. Even if the pin was there, it still is not a good design. It should have been more reinforced.

Is the rear sight retaining pin missing I can see a hole for retaining pin that had to be gone for that site to come out like that.
It might, but that screw is threaded into the slide. Maybe if that pin was there, it broke.
