  • Watch this excerpt from “The Minister of Defense” where Brett Favre reflects on a play where Reggie White tackled him and hurt his left arm, sending him into a particularly difficult time in his life.
“The Minister of Defense” premieres December 13, 2023 at 9 PM ET on ESPN.
“The Minister of Defense” examines the complex and sometimes controversial life of Reggie White, one of the greatest and most faith-driven players in NFL history. Told in part through never-before-seen footage from a 2004 interview filmed two months before his death, the film chronicles both White’s incredible dominance as one of the best defensive players ever and his spiritual journey as an ordained evangelical minister who questioned his blind faith toward the end of his life. Along with interviews with teammates from both the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, the film features Reggie’s son Jeremy who embarks on a journey to understand his father’s life, which ended tragically short at the age of 43. “The Minister of Defense” is a portrait of a man who constantly strived to “do right” but found that sometimes there is no easy answer as to what “right” means.

I remember a game against Dallas. He had an injured hand or wrist or something. Even with that, he dominated. And saying he dominated isn't accurately describing what he single handedly did to Dallas. If I remember correctly, he picked up the lineman with 1 arm n moved him out the way. And I think Dallas at the time had what was considered the best o line. Reggie made anyone in front of him look foolish

But after this seeing this program I’m looking sideways at ESPN. This was a bunch of people who disagreed with Reggie’s faith now trying to put words in Reggie’s mouth since he’s not here to correct them.
