I picked up a Tab S8+ and am just getting started with Dex. It's a bit hard to believe that more people haven't figured out how powerful it is. I can't wait to try it with an external monitor as well. Thanks for the great overview!
It just seems like the phone can do all of this stuff without becoming a laptop first so I don't know what I would gain by using dex. If I could install steam games that would sway me but right now all I see is people using their laptops as a monitor for the phone. Which makes me wonder why they don't use the laptop as is.
@@Michael-ru3su I'm using DeX on the Tab S8+ so having laptop mode is excellent for mobile productivity. Using it with a phone seems less immediately useful but I could imagine carrying a cable instead of a computer being appealing to some people. Bottom line it's nice to have the option.
How are you liking the S8+? I am thinking of getting one. I would like to do Dex as a stand alone. I am also thinking if it would better to just get a portable monitor and Dex from my s23. Thoughts?
@@RussellHogan I'm not sure how well DeX works using a phone, although I assume with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse that it would be great. Using it on a tablet makes it immediately more like a laptop and usable for multitasking. I have tried using smaller Chromebooks and Android tablets with a keyboard and mouse and, even though I could resize the windows, there was so little space that there wasn't much point. The Tab S8+ has a large enough screen to comfortably have multiple windows open. It's also powerful enough with enough memory to do this smoothly. It feels like an actual laptop rather than a tablet. The one obvious giveaway that it's not are the Android apps that don't scale well. It's usually not an issue because most of the apps I've had a problem with can run in a browser instead. Bottom line, it's not a 100% desktop replacement but, if you do most things in a browser or using apps that behave, it's a great experience. Hope that helps!
Good to see a Tech reviewer dedicated to Samsung and it's ecosystem. I'm tired of seeing UA-camrs giving shallow reviews to Android devices in general that they used for a week or so, no one even talks about DeX in their reviews. Like dude when you review an iPhone you lot talk about the "ecosystem" then why not review the Galaxy devices the same way.
I actually find myself using dex more and more. I have a pc thats starting to get outdated, and for my needs, dex does a lot of the things my pc does already.
This guy gets it... He didn't talk about gaming or thin client applications, but he gets it... Hopefully Google will finally take tablet or desktop class ui's/apps more seriously 👍..
@@spiderpig1736 It's funny, I'm actually interested in the reverse.. Making Android a desktop class operating system in order to leverage its amazing software adaptability.. Where Android (and by extension the Play Store) becomes a one stop shop for context aware apps (software that understands the hardware it's running on and adapts to suit in the form of Mobile, Tablet or Desktop UIs) on a highly portable operating system.. No OS currently does this and effectively, it's what Apple is attempting to SIMULATE with its software ecosystem. Android is positioned to become that if Google wants that.. In terms of computing that's far more interesting (possibly even more profitable) than whatever is going on in ChromeOS.. It would actually be revolutionary, especially for the end user..
I was looking for a compact laptop for basic things while traveling. I remembered Dex existed and was fortunate enought to find a Tab S8 at an excelent price with keyboard included and i am so happy with the experience. @@MSanzSH-0 so sorry, cant help with that, i have the one without the touchpad as I usually carry a mouse with me or use the Spen. I did had to increase the pointer speed with the mouse as it did felt kind of a delay while using it.
Reasonably new to DeX but seeing a phone with DeX (on the go) and a S6 lite (with DeX) at home (or even on the go) is a great combo. I also liked your phone and monitor setup. Great video and explanation 😀
Great to see a new dedicated Samsung channel. Even better you’re an Aussie. Hope this channel takes off as I am tired of bias in too many channels due to the supplier paying them to.
Great video, and I love the design and functionality of the Espresso monitor. Of course people won't replace their laptops with DeX if it doesn't provide the same level of functionality or software, although it actually can replace laptops for most people. DeX is wonderful, and I use it as my only computer, but Samsung could have developed it into a truly viable PC replacement by now. It's really frustrating how little attention it gets. Flagship phones are as powerful as midrange laptops with premium integrated graphics. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is equal to a 2022 Intel Core i3-1215U notebook CPU paired with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti. A phone could have a USB4 port with: - up to 80 gigabits per second transfer rate - Multi Stream Transport for multi display output through a hub/docking station or via daisy chaining - PCI Express tunneling for connecting an external GPU dock or eGPU for desktop-level graphics performance We could have a new generation of ultra-efficient graphics cards based on mobile architecture and the USB4 interface, with way better performance per watt than anything from AMD or Nvidia. USB4 Power Delivery could easily power them, so those cumbersome PCIe power cables would be no more.
On my Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (which is pretty much the same specs as Galaxy S22 phone), I could do most things people do on PC. Browsing, office, sound cloud/spotify, CAD work, drawing and graphic design on Krita, and 3D sculpting on Nomad Sculpt, and video and music editing on a variety of great apps, and game emulation as well!....It's amazing!....My PC is primarily for heavy gaming and sim-racing only!
@@TooToo246 Awesome!! I also use Krita and Nomad Sculpt on my S23 Ultra (512+12). For those two apps, I use an XP-Pen Artist 16 2nd Gen pen display in DeX mode, and Nomad also works great in phone mode with the S-Pen. Krita of course doesn't work in phone mode because it has a desktop-only UI, as you know. I use Cubasis 3 for music projects and LumaFusion for video editing. Phablet PC ftw!
I've been using using my phone (currently s23+) as my main machine for almost 4yrs now. I use it for all my software development as well. I run full arch Linux, i3, including 3d acceleration from within dex, so I can mix android and any full Linux app. I often have slack, UA-cam music, vscode/nvim, postresql server, redis server, rails, full chrome with all the devtools. All locally. I use external monitor or my xreal glasses for display, and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and earbuds
I am using it in a similar way although without a graphical desktop environment. Termux, vim, git, qemu when a project requires containerization via Docker or projects involving various versions of NodeJS via nvm. A shared directory accessible between host (termux) and qemu (guest) allows me to edit source code, run a web server, and version control it from a single instance of the corresponding configuration files within the termux environment. Away from my desk, I can connect the smartphone to a lapdock for a notebook-like experience. My only regret is not knowing about Samsung DeX a few years ago; I would have bought a Samsung smartphone instead of a notebook computer at the time, saving a few thousand dollars in the process.
How are you guys doing this? It’s exactly what I’d like to do. Just got this device after over a decade of iPhones. I run a similar setup on my laptops and desktops. Would love to set it up on the ultra. Especially i3.
Yes, that's often how this goes, but I'm glad you've discovered its usefulness. Yes, DeX is great, but after six years on the market, it could have been way more than what it is now. Samsung is actually holding back DeX's development severely.
I really appreciate this video content and encourage you to maybe do something on DEX every year as functionality increases. Thank You for your work on your great channel!
I love blowing my kids minds when I wirelessly Dex to our 55in Lg Lcd tv. Works so well, it’s just amazing. And then you can use the phone screen as a large track pad. Just wow
I've been looking into tablets that I can take with me on the go, I don't really need the whole software of it just some standard apps, I never even considered just getting a portable screen and hooking up Dex to it. Game changer. That Espresso display is so cool
I have been using dex for 2 years now...will never go back to a regular pc+laptop+cell I use geforcenow for games...I miss very little The BEST "dock" for Dex is a windows 10/11 laptop. For $50 (low end used laptop) you get the equivalent of a nexdock. For games...you NEED an hdmi hoockup. There is no other way. And give up on mouse response...cursor control is the sorriest you will ever experience. Still love it...
I use DEX all the time with the Note 20 Ultra. There are limitations just using a cable. I invested in the DEX Pad, this allows me to run it at 3440 x 1440 (UWQHD).
If you get the Samsung multiport adapter, that one supports 4K. Non-Samsung cables tend to cap the resolution to 1080. But the Samsung cable has no such limitation.
Thank you for the tip to use Dex with PC , the win 10 download works with w11 and its just amazing. I just moved from iphone and wow this is really good.
I have the DEX hockey puck style docking system, galaxy S8, all the connection cables, monitor and I love it. Saved me a lots of money on cable internet service. I want to up grade but at same time I don't want to give up the old dinosaur system.
7:50 We should appreciate Samsung for doing this, others could make it propriety to their devices as ECOSYSTEM requirement huh soooooooooooooooooo underrated
Normally I dont carry too many cables around, nor travel with the intention of working in a hotel room, so I dont carry mouse or keyboard either. But, sometimes, I really need it and with that wireless Dex option I feel backed up. Just AMAZING what sumsung did there. Really thinking about the consumer
dex was the main reason i went. samsung. I have the fold 4 and i basically have three devices in one. I travel a lot and connecting this to the hotel or air bnb tv is perfect for watching my games while im still using my phone for all the other things
I use DeX a lot. My S22 is a really handy at work. My main machine in the office is a Windows 11 laptop with a portable second screen. However, I dislike Windows so I set the monitor up with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo using the monitor's Micro USB port. One USB C and a universal PSU later, and I can plug my phone, tablets, Chromebooks, or PC into the monitor and the KB/Mouse works with the lot. My Tab S8 runs DeX on its screen, but I often use the S8 with a touch screen portable monitor. That's a serious productivity setup.
Got Dex setup in my 18 wheeler using my Roku Smart TV via usb-c/hdmi with wireless kb/mouse!!! Love that I can play my fps games and that I can exit Dex and go right to PS Remote Play(PS5) without switching cables or unplugging tyem!!!
It is just amazing, and I dont know why most manufacturers dont adopt it. Just need s monitor, keyboard and your smartphone and you have a computer with you. Makes so much sense.
Can you connect a webcam to the USB port and use it for video streaming in an app that would normally (require) use of your phone's camera to stream video?
Sadly my Philips 'the one' doesn't have miracast, I use a 4k Microsoft wireless display adapter instead. Which works beautifully (and also lets you display your windows PC on your big 4 k TV too)
When connected with HDMI, will the full android phone audio travel through the HDMI to the display? Is this something that is selectable? Will that change if you connect another device to the USB port of the dock/hub?
Because of Dex I splashed out to get a Samsung tablet. I am so glad I did. It's one of the best things I have ever bought, though not cheap. And while I agree that Dex does a marvellous job at making my tablet into a functioning laptop, it is up against (a) the limitations imposed by Android OS and (b) the laziness of app developers. If I open a Windows app, and resize it, I expect it to actually resize, and NOT crash, hang, refuse to obey, mess up its screen, or go blank until I close it and re-open it. When Microsoft invented UWAs (Universal Windows Apps) that operated on a Windows desktop or Windows tablet (or Windows Phone) like phone apps, it gave in to the tendency of apps to simply die and need to be re-opened. On a phone, that happens a lot, and people don't notice, they just re-open them. But on a PC? NO!!! People expected better. Like traditional Win32 apps that were designed to NOT die, and which no one would want if they were not stable. But when one moves from a phone to a tablet or desktop display, one expects better than phone apps that (a) need to be re-opened and (b) reset themselves (say, to their entry page) at the drop of a hat, eg when you resize them even the tiniest amount, or screw up their screen formatting. And that is mostly a failing of Android OS. The fact that apps generally are considered to be able, under normal circumstances on a phone, to reset themselves to their entry page. Which goes down like a lead balloon on a tablet or desktop. And after perservering with such quirky instabilities as (eg) UA-cam going back to its entry page if tyou pause a vidoo for more than a few minutes, it is such a joy to go back to the stability of Windows on a PC or Mac OS on a Mac. And that is not all there is to contend with in the Android land of quirks. Consider when you see a vertical bar cursor flashing in a text entry field in your app and you start typing but nothing appears. HUH? On Windows, the flashing cursor is your GUARANTEE that you have selected the text entry field as the recipient for input. On Android? NO!!! For whatever stupid reason, that Android's developers don't give a s**t about fixing. Again, it's a joy to be back with Windows, where stuff is ROCK SOLID, and does what it is told, and does not have a mind of its own, forgetting what you had it doing, and reverting back to the entry page of the app. Or going into Portrait Mode when you resize to full-screen. Or going blank when you have your app resize to a phone-shaped window and you decide to tweak its width (eg Omron Connect app, which then goes blank). So Android OS has improved over the years but it is still nothing short of CLUNKY and OBSTRUCTIVE and its report card says MUST DO BETTER. That said, Dex is an AMAZING step forward. And the fact that it came from Samsung, NOT from Google, tells you a LOT about the lazy sloppy attitude in Android OS development, where the teams seem to be wandering around in cuckoo land while there is a world out there to conquer. They seem unaware of how much custom they could steal from Microsoft with some attention to Android's stupid quirks. Not that I want Android to put Windows out of business. Windows is a REAL operating system that does not hide its file system behind inscrutable apps that talk about Albums (whatever the hell they are, relative to actual Folders). Windws has proper cloud sync of files, downloaded on demand, auto-uploaded when they have been updated. You will likely NEVER see that on Android in a millennium of Sundays. It's just not built to suit it. But having said all that, Android, given the superlative life support that Samsung Dex has added, becomes a viable portable environment for a LOT of activities. Particularly activities that are internet-involved, ie web-browsing, communications (email, social media, messenger apps), and such things as Amazon and Just Eat, etc. And I would not like to be without it. To sum up, I was totally Windows-based apart from having to buy a non-Microsoft phone after the distressing demise of Windows Phone, having to give up my slick fast efficient Microsoft phone with its AMOLED display for a much more expensive product that was far from such slickness. What let Microsoft down was (a) PWAs being too late to save it and (b) Google refusing to provide such things as a UA-cam app. As for why PWAs were too late, it's because Google realised how much use Microsoft could make use of them, so it back-pedalled on them coming to fruition until they were sure Windows Phone was dead. I only saw abour 2 PWAs make it onto Windows Phone, and had that become more common, they would have given it life support. So f**k you, Google. In having to rely on Samsung to fix their quirky irritating Android OS by means of Dex, Google are their own worst enemy. An entangled mass of Prima Donnas producing Beta products that never become real. A stupid setup they may never change. And the idea of a 3rd party having to come in and shore up their OS because they can't see which way the wind is blowing and fix it themselves, is utterly bizarre, absurd, and an indication of total rudderlessness. But as I said, I can't do without Samsung Dex now, but I sure as hell would do without Android if I did NOT have Dex. What would I do instead? I would run a bunch of PWAs on Windows (a couple of dozen of them, easy to set up, for whatever web-sites took my fancy, currently discarded in favour of using Dex).
This is good. First I have heard of Dex for PC. In the second video, I would be good to know how to integrate Dex for a Windows 10 PC desktop running 2 Monitors, wireless Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse & MX Master Mechanical Keyboard, both the keyboard and mouse have dongles in a USB Hub. Transferring files between the old Samsung S8 phone and the PC up to now has been a laborious exercise using File Explorer. Drag and dropping files and video editing with the new Samsung s23 Ultra would be a godsend.
I don't think they meant editing on the phone specifically. I think the prospect of dragging and dropping files off an S23 Ultra using DeX so they edit on their PC is what they meant
I think with how phones are now and it's been round since s8 they need to focus on dex also specially on flagship phones like fold and ultra and make more features and changes to dex making it more like desktop PC. It helps me alot on the fold 5 as I'm in a shared house and my rooms small I have a monitor and stand and use dex all the time for business and university studying I just use it 8 hours a day it's definitely been improved on fold 5 with new chip I can have 5 plus apps open using goodlock and it doesn't even get hot or warm the phone
They should add something like visual studio in more optimized way in dex. It will be killer replacement for laptops and challenger for mac. If we have twice as Powerful cpu as 8gen 3 in tab it'll be *LAPTOP KILLER* 😊😊😊
Still trying to get my head around dex... How did you connect your espresso monitor and your laptop together wirelessly? Did you connect them both seperately through dex app on your mobile phone or do you have the espresso monitor and laptop connected together via cable? I'm slowly learning!
The thing is, if you have a monitor, keyboard and mouse then you probably already have them attached to a real computer. Its generally easier to just transfer the files from your phone to your PC and use desktop apps. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra but prefer Samsungs android multitasking to DEX.
1st useful info is at 13:05 if you connect DEX to a PC than the PC's mouse and keyboard controls the phone as well. I presume the leripherials are still being managed by the PC's softwares so this gives a broad range of peripherials that you could use. I imagine DEX is still being ran by the phone rather that the PC despite of having to install a DEX software on the PC to make the connection between phone and PC eork via DEX.
For those wanting to use dark mode on their phones but want the light mode on Dex, you can to add a mode to the Modes and Routine on your Samsung Galaxy device (a mode that starts when Dex starts and disables dark mode).
When connected, can you share your secondary screen (the bigger screen) in an android app that allows you to share your "screen", such that the app recognizes the secondary screen AS your "screen"??? For instance, some video streaming apps allow you to "share your screen", I am wondering if you can select the secondary screen, as your "screen"?
We use Citrix for work so I love being able to just take my S23 Ultra, keyboard, and bluetooth mouse... I can just plug into any tv I want. I have a small USB-C dock with PD, USB, RJ-45, and HDMI
I love Dex so much on my tablet and I'd actually consider getting a Samsung phone. I've always gone with Nexus and Pixel devices but Dex could actually convert me. I only wish there were good design tools for Android. I wish Adobe or even Affinity would lean into Android support. As a designer my dream is to have FULL Photoshop and Illustrator in this kind of workflow. I've been dreaming about this since Ubuntu's Convergence and Window's Continuum. When Windows attempted it I thought for sure I'd see a day where I could have a full desktop computer and phone in a single device.
I travel to go to law school. I use Dex in the hotel all the time. I also have a Samsung keyboard and a mouse. I purchased the 1 TB version of the Samsung Fold 5. This allows me to keep all my files on the phone. I also have a remote into Windows.
What prevents me from using DeX full-time on my tablet is the additional window bar on top of any app, which consumes additional vertical space even when full screen. The window bar is a tad big and wastes space. Most of my day-to-day activities involves Google Docs/Sheets on the browser and vertical space is a premium. With DeX window bar+the UI elements of Chrome and these web apps, they consume at least 1/4 vertical space on the screen. Those plus the DeX bar on the bottom of the screen.
I love DeX, but DeX for PC makes very little sense to me. I am way more capable on my PC than on a stunted DeX. Interacting with my phone just makes more sense using Link to Windows. It is like running an unnecessary VM - all the additional UI is just bloat. DeX on TVs/ displays and DeX on the tablets is absolutely brilliant.
Samsung DeX is what keeps me linked to Samsung phones. I use it with a Rapoo mouse (bonds to 3 different devices) and a foldable Microsoft keyboard. Great for travelling. I still take the connecting hdmi cable in case the hotel doesn't have a wireless TV.

Fantastic all in one video explaining everything about Dex the monitor you showed us is fantastic however why spend extra money on a external monitor like the ones you mentioned and just use the Samsung keyboard and cover on your tab s8+ s9+ or if need a bigger screen there's the tab ultra
For the espresso Display its USB-C. But depending on the monitor it could be HDMI as well! For that you'll need either an adapter or a USB-C to HDMI cable
Hi.. Very nice video. I own a S23 Ultra and I wonder if can I use Samsung Dex with two monitors as extended view. For instance using a USB C docking station with two HMDI outputs?
I hope in another update, Dex can apply more than one "keep open" apps coz its very useful to keep the apps always running instead of refreashing after minimize. Then, I hope Dex also can apply to use widget in their desktop mode.

@@EricAdamsYT Great feed back. Thanks. Are you using a Wi-Fi or cellular version?
Good to see a Tech reviewer dedicated to Samsung and it's ecosystem. I'm tired of seeing UA-camrs giving shallow reviews to Android devices in general that they used for a week or so, no one even talks about DeX in their reviews. Like dude when you review an iPhone you lot talk about the "ecosystem" then why not review the Galaxy devices the same way.
This comment was the thought process I had that was the inspiration behind me starting my channel. Thanks for recognising 🙏
@@spiderpig1736 Google can be so brilliant and simultaneously so stupid sometimes.. Android has more potential..
Looking forward to part two.. Some nice workflow stuff, application use, LumaFusion etc.. Part one was solid, the express monitor looks really nice...
I was looking for a compact laptop for basic things while traveling. I remembered Dex existed and was fortunate enought to find a Tab S8 at an excelent price with keyboard included and i am so happy with the experience. Really surprises me why not many people recommend it for when you only need ia device for productivity. Just the being able to use the apps in many windows is so useful
Look at grabbing the nreal air glasses to go with it.
Hi man, I also have S8 with cover, but the touchpad feels off. do you know how to improve it?
@@MSanzSH-0 so sorry, cant help with that, i have the one without the touchpad as I usually carry a mouse with me or use the Spen. I did had to increase the pointer speed with the mouse as it did felt kind of a delay while using it.
i am afraid you dont quite understand what "productivity" means. It is not "just" youtube and google documents
Wow. Been using dex. Didn't know you could do the pc thing! Criminally underrated feature
Reasonably new to DeX but seeing a phone with DeX (on the go) and a S6 lite (with DeX) at home (or even on the go) is a great combo. I also liked your phone and monitor setup. Great video and explanation 😀
What phone has dex on the go on a phone?? Latest is S23U or Z fold4 and even that doesn't have Dex on the go?? lol.
Enjoying your fledgling channel. I like how you talk as though sharing with a friend. Keep up the good work mate. Watching from California, USA.
Great to see a new dedicated Samsung channel. Even better you’re an Aussie. Hope this channel takes off as I am tired of bias in too many channels due to the supplier paying them to.
Don't be so hard on him
He just an Aussie bro😂
@@NotUrKenDoll I am supporting him. I like how he is not biased and is very honest.
The much needed information and informative video about Dex, thank you 😊
Great video, and I love the design and functionality of the Espresso monitor.
A phone could have a USB4 port with:
- up to 80 gigabits per second transfer rate
- Multi Stream Transport for multi display output through a hub/docking station or via daisy chaining
- PCI Express tunneling for connecting an external GPU dock or eGPU for desktop-level graphics performance
We could have a new generation of ultra-efficient graphics cards based on mobile architecture and the USB4 interface, with way better performance per watt than anything from AMD or Nvidia.
Especially i3.
how you run full chrome?
Love the video, hate how loud the music for the ad was.
Just up graded to 23U from a 20U.I can't wait to open Dex. Great show.
ive had my tab s6 for 3years(?) and i didnt know this existed until now. this is game changer gonna utilize it more
I briefly saw DeX running when I was with Alex a few weeks back - hell though, this video is a full explainer!!
I never thought DeX would be that important or useful until I started using it. Great stuff Samsung is doing.
Yes, that's often how this goes, but I'm glad you've discovered its usefulness.
Yes, DeX is great, but after six years on the market, it could have been way more than what it is now. Samsung is actually holding back DeX's development severely.
@@DaverZI couldn't agree more with your statement...
i have an s22 for over a year now and dind't know i could use dex like this, thank you
I really appreciate this video content and encourage you to maybe do something on DEX every year as functionality increases.
It is isn't it! I love mine and Samsung DeX is so cool on it!
I have been using dex for 2 years now...will never go back to a regular pc+laptop+cell
I use geforcenow for games...I miss very little
The BEST "dock" for Dex is a windows 10/11 laptop. For $50 (low end used laptop) you get the equivalent of a nexdock.
For games...you NEED an hdmi hoockup. There is no other way.
And give up on mouse response...cursor control is the sorriest you will ever experience.
Still love it...
wow! finally see a sponsor that is relevant to the content.
Dex is such a great feature that it should be mandatory on all their phones.
I'm using S21 Ultra and a regular user of Dex, for a Mac no less. There's no freaking way this came out in S8 🤯 def ahead of its time.
I didn't know about Dex to PC! Installing now as I think its going to help workflow so so much!
It's such a cool solution!
DUDE !! I never knew Samsung Dex for PC even existed and I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy!! Thank you for the video !!!
Thank you for the tip to use Dex with PC , the win 10 download works with w11 and its just amazing. I just moved from iphone and wow this is really good.
I got my old s9+ hooked upto the viewsonic td1655 touch screen portable monitor and it is amazing best setup possible
Dex been my favorite Sammy feature since it released I wish on the fold they would let you access it without a external display
I am at a point where I can't have a device without dex. I have gotten so used to it in my workflow. Recently it has gotten real good.
I have the DEX hockey puck style docking system, galaxy S8, all the connection cables, monitor and I love it. Saved me a lots of money on cable internet service. I want to up grade but at same time I don't want to give up the old dinosaur system.
7:50 We should appreciate Samsung for doing this, others could make it propriety to their devices as ECOSYSTEM requirement huh
soooooooooooooooooo underrated
Normally I dont carry too many cables around, nor travel with the intention of working in a hotel room, so I dont carry mouse or keyboard either. But, sometimes, I really need it and with that wireless Dex option I feel backed up. Just AMAZING what sumsung did there. Really thinking about the consumer
I was hoping for a Dex video at some point, and I got it!
I bought it and used for about a week then had to return it. Not having 5G was the reason. But it’s an awesome beautiful tablet
dex was the main reason i went. samsung. I have the fold 4 and i basically have three devices in one. I travel a lot and connecting this to the hotel or air bnb tv is perfect for watching my games while im still using my phone for all the other things
Great presentation, DEX is the most underrated Samsung feature!
I love using DEX, i first started using it on my Galaxy 6
Thank yii for the in depth explanation! Exactly what I needed to know for setting up my tablet as a laptop replacement ❤❤!
Although we don't need twitter in full screen, but just look at the animation between mini and full window. Dex has grown exponentially!
Underrated comment!
This video is so awesome, great review on Dex!
It's an awesome channel! 😊
Oh my God.....alot i did not know about Dex, that i am pleasantly shocked today. Tq
The stylus in the video how is working with the monitor?
It is just amazing, and I dont know why most manufacturers dont adopt it. Just need s monitor, keyboard and your smartphone and you have a computer with you. Makes so much sense.
Thank you for this. This is what I needed for my needs.
Does there exist a laptop sort of shell that I can plug my s24 into? Meaning, it's a laptop only the monitor, keyboard, and touchpad?
Can you connect a webcam to the USB port and use it for video streaming in an app that would normally (require) use of your phone's camera to stream video?
Wow. Did not know about dex on the PC. Great insight
I love it. I plug my phone into a beautiful monitor. It is so seamless- and I feel right at home with it. I love how low wattage it is.
Did you do a vid on the espresso display?
We have a few more pieces of content on our socials and YT channel. Also more than happy to answer questions here 😃
This is good.
Smartphones aren't meant for heavy video editing.
Use a powerful laptop or desktop for that.
I don't think they meant editing on the phone specifically. I think the prospect of dragging and dropping files off an S23 Ultra using DeX so they edit on their PC is what they meant
@@PSYCHOV3N0MHave you ever heard of LumaFusion?
Pre ordered fold 5 glad it has DEX support
Don't know if it's because you're also an Aussie, but love your channel. The perfect dex video I was looking for. I'm moving from Apple.
That's very kind. Just checked out your channel and subscribed too. Aussie pride 🇦🇺 🤙
It's really good to have hdmi port built in the type c port it's a real pro feature
Samsung DeX + AR/VR headset that allows multiple virtual displays/desktops will be the perfect setup for digital nomads
Great Dex content!
Great video. What is that folding stand? I don't see it in description.
I travel to go to law school. I use Dex in the hotel all the time. I also have a Samsung keyboard and a mouse. I purchased the 1 TB version of the Samsung Fold 5. This allows me to keep all my files on the phone. I also have a remote into Windows.
That's an awesome road warrior setup! Very impressive :)
Thanks
Alex told me about you and I'm glad he did. Awesome video. I subscribed to you.
Hi there!!! Awesome video with crystal clear info!!! I was lookint to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 BUT I want to ask you... What model of Samsung Laptop you show us on this video around 12:40 ? It's GORGEOUS!!! Thanks in advance, best regards!!!
Ah that Laptop I believe is an older one. I've since upgraded to a Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. But anything from the Galaxy Book 3 range will do you great!
where's the link for that display?
I use my Tab S9 Ultra into a monitor, bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I even code in vscode browser version. I just wish it has double monitor support.
It's been said many times before, but I still have to say Samsung DEX is one of the most underrated technology out there.
Awesome video. I have the tab s8 ultra. It's amazing.
Can Espresso screen be connected to a laptop via bluetooth or wifi and be used as a touchscreen supplement to that laptop? It would be great for presentations in classrooms and meetings.
Hey @ads7506! It's a plug and play setup! Right now, both data and power are managed using a single USB-C cable. This enables touch and rotation functionality, and we have plenty of folks showing espressoDisplay completes their presentation setups!
We'd recommend checking the capability of your laptop/PC throughout website as a first step. 😉
Dex is so cool. Before i had my laptop or desktop i thought dex was a perfect option. I never really used it of course because i didnt have any of the peripherals to go along woth it anyways but i thought i was very nice and good for those on a budget that needs a PC experience
Fantastic all in one video explaining everything about Dex the monitor you showed us is fantastic however why spend extra money on a external monitor like the ones you mentioned and just use the Samsung keyboard and cover on your tab s8+ s9+ or if need a bigger screen there's the tab ultra
I'm interested in the end of the cable you plug into, let's say a portable monitor. Is it a USB- c or an HDMI?
For the espresso Display its USB-C. But depending on the monitor it could be HDMI as well! For that you'll need either an adapter or a USB-C to HDMI cable
Hi.. Very nice video. I own a S23 Ultra and I wonder if can I use Samsung Dex with two monitors as extended view. For instance using a USB C docking station with two HMDI outputs?
Awesome video bro ❤
I hope in another update, Dex can apply more than one "keep open" apps coz its very useful to keep the apps always running instead of refreashing after minimize.
Then, I hope Dex also can apply to use widget in their desktop mode.
