  • Star Wars Stormtrooper? We Had That! The Stormtrooper came out as part of the first wave of Star Wars figures in 1978. He was easily one of my favorite figures in the entire line. What do you think about this figure? Let me know in the comments below!

I had just bought my first Star Wars figure in April 1978. It just happened to be Luke Skywalker. About a week later one of my friends brought a Stormtrooper to school and we were going to swap them one day but he kept complaining that Luke's head was 'too small'. Anyway, I'm glad we didn't swap. Within two or three weeks I had my own Stormtrooper and our astute parents would have started asking awkward questions...
Apart from that, it took me long enough to collect the first twelve; April 1978 with Luke until February 1979 with Chewbacca. I never seen another carded Luke until Christmas 1979 but it was during the Empire Strikes Back run that I was able to collect multiple Stormtroopers. There were scores of them appearing on ESB cards...

THE CLASSIC! I remember scrutinizing the 2 different knees, the OIL back, etc

The Stormtrooper was my first Star Wars figure, closely followed by Luke in his X-Wing pilot suit and the Tusken Raider. I can remember playing with him on the dining area table one Saturday morning and if I recall correctly it was an Easter gift. I had very little context for what he did that early on but he looked so cool, had an amazing blaster and I could use him with my Adventure People and Pocket Superheroes Spiderman so he fit in fine. Over the years I gathered a few more, some were trades with the kids who preferred riding their bike outside rather than figures, others from jumble sales so I acquired a little army. One of the figures whose sculpts endured the length of the original trilogy. A favourite for sure.

Oh man... me too ! And I probably got the Stormtrooper for Easter too now that I think about it. My second two of that first series of action figures was C3PO and R2D2 as I know I probably wanted them most, but were likely all sold out. Seeing Star Wars when I was 8 those white armored soldiers made quite an impression on me so I did love my Stormtrooper !

    Hey😊
I reaĺly liked this figure as a kid. Did not have one myself but a friend of mine did. Always thought they looked really cool. Now as an adult collector I have quite a few of them. And still love the design very much. If only they could turn their heads

I had a bunch of Star Wars figures Buck Roger's figures, and Battlestar Galactica figures.
Unfortunately, most of them met there fate, one 4th of July weekend.
As you can imagine, those action figures, and fireworks, was kinda fun for a little bit, but nothing survived!!!
Looking back now, it was fun and all, but now I sure do regret it!!!
Now I'm slowly rebuilding part of the collection I had, at great cost, and it's very time consuming!!!
I'll never get back everything I had, but maybe I can regain some of them.

I'm pretty sure this was my very first Star Wars Kenner action figure ! I saw Star Wars after a few weeks in the theater when I was 8 and the white armored soldiers made an indelible impact on me. I know I probably wanted C3PO and R2D2 first, but they were immensely popular and likely all sold out and I didn't get them until many weeks later... maybe a grading present... can't remember exactly, but they were definitely NOT my first Star Wars figure. I eventually got all of the original Star Wars action figure release EXCEPT Princess Leia and the Jawa... so 10 of the first 12.
I remember using the Stormtrooper as an astronaut figure too on occasion with his peg holes as rocket boots lol.

@@RobertHunt-tn4jz Some people bleach, but it’s very hit and miss. Same goes for Hothtrooper and Leia 1st.

yes you need more than one stormtrooper. As a child, I probably would have painted one character's shoulder orange or made somehow Pauldron

I had squads of most of the troopers. There were not many different "bad guys".
