Dude I’m 42 years old and I’ve toured and played most of my life and I think you are amazing. You gotta be one of the best teachers ever and you got chops for days. I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and they help me continue to learn and grow as a player. 🤟🏻
I’m in the same boat as you man lmao. Guthrie made me realize (after years of playing professionally) how much I don’t know. Obviously you can never learn it all but this dude has got some wisdom 🤘🏻
I’m a but older than you but same situation here as you. This man is the best.
Funny how you can hear things for years and never put it together until a great player takes the time to break it down for you. Thanks Guthrie.
Sellarmusic Thanks a bunch man!!
Best teacher on UA-cam. Thanks so much for these videos. This lesson in particular is gold!
Steve Brown Thanks man!!
Man if only UA-cam and your lessons were available years ago. I can't even imagine how much further and how quickly I could have advanced if I could have learned this stuff, that's taken me a decade to learn on my own. You're videos should be treasured by those delving deeper into theory for music and guitar. Even now, some things that I've known for nearly 2 decades are being reenforced and even taught to me. Especially the last note played on a chord verses the first note played over the next chord in the progression. I.e. the 7th of a chord resolving to the 3rd of the next. Your musical ear is impeccable.
Sean ..... My history is similar to yours and I am currently doing the Artistworks course with Guthrie. I think you seriously need to have a look at it if you like these videos.
@@kieranoloughlin he had a few lessons, 6months+ back, on just that, the 7th becoming the 3rd. It was the ultimate eye opener for me to start connecting everything! One of those, "if someone would of just showed me this 15yrs ago" moments.
Sean Fitzpatrick Thanks so much man!! This is inspiring to all of us. I’m so glad it’s working for you!!
@@kieranoloughlin Thank you. I just joined. It's worth every penny...
@@lancecass8997 yeah, it really connected for me. It's a concept I was learning by ear and only pulling off half the time. When I did, I knew it was awesome but I wasn't seeing the underlying theory. Now, with a bit of practice, I'm improvising licks using it all the time and it really turns heads.
I found im playing chord shapes for melodic leads much more frequently. That CAGED system works! Thank you so much.
Great stuff! I enjoy and learn from your lessons. Thank you!
That was indeed awesome, thanks Bro!
Thank you so much for these videos. I just found them last week and each video I watch has an aha moment. Good stuff!
2 years ago this month IIRC, my brother and I saw Knopfler at Chastain in Atlanta. He'd always been one of our top guitar heroes, and one off the few I hadn't seen yet. But, to be perfectly honest, while he definitely had some great moments, his playing has suffered a bit, and what most impressed us about the show, was how subtle and tight his band was. Laying down some of those Celtic grooves he's been into in recent years, those guys were jaw dropping !!
Great lesson, thankyou Guthrie!
You are a real deal man.. Love all thr teaching u made
This is such a great idea for an exercise and lesson. Thank you so much for taking the time to upload this.
This is pure gold. Thanks Guthrie!
Another great lesson to look back on. It's all starting to make sense. Thanks Guthrie.
Fantastic!!!
You have a way of breaking these concepts down, better than anyone else I have encountered, so that even musical idiots such as I can make sense of them. Thanks so very much!
Mark Joy Great! Thanks a bunch man!!
This is priceless. Have been learning scale and appergio workouts separately and just could not combine them together. Now I can make music with both thanks to you!
This info is gold to me . Thanks so much 🇦🇺
Guthrie this was by far one of the best lessons I have had! Definitely the most impactful youtube video I have seen. So glad that you keep sharing your knowledge with us, and even though I am sure it feels like you may be repeating yourself, please keep the great content coming even if you've told us before. I have watched you say a similar message a few times, but this lesson was filled with so many AHA moments. I really made a leap today and you are to thank for that! It really clicked, and I love that you gave some exercises to do. That helped me put it all together. I understand "what" you are doing and the "why" you do it, I just didn't realize any ways to get there or how to practice to see all these shapes. I've got a while before I am even close to sounding as fluent as your playing, but this was a big step for me today. Thank you Guthrie! I will send a tip your way in about a week.
Thanks. Another great lesson.
Awesome lesson!! Thanks bro
Great lesson sir 💯🎸
Perfect time its only 10:23 here. Thanks for all the great lessons my friend.
This is soooo useful. Thanks!
I have got to figure this stuff out!!! Thank you!!!!
This is so good
these lessons are so great, thanks for sharing, my plan is to brush up on a lot of this stuff that i have forgot about and get a private lesson from you
i love your vibe
The adventure continues! Thank you so much.
Love ur Painting 👌
¡Gracias desde España! Muchas gracias, tío...
your straight up Guthrie and your clear and concise, you really are teaching what is at the core of good lead and melody playing, I get confused easily so it helps alot Thanks again, also man I love to hear you do your thing on guita,r its inspiring and shows what this can lead to.
I can tell how much you want to inspire people, and I think you absolutely succeed in that.
you are an amazing teacher
Cool video my man. Definitely digging the process.
This! Exactly what I needed to expand on my triad work. Thank you, Guthrie!
Brilliant approach to learning guitar .
Makes sense. Thanks
You are doing an outstanding job with these lessons. I appreciate you keeping it at a pace that the mortals can keep up. Thanks so much!
Thanks a bunch man!!
Thanks Guthrie.
Thank you Guthrie. Right when I felt like I was never going to wrap my head around this concept your video came along. You are really the only teacher on UA-cam who is able to articulate this technique so well, and your playing is very inspiring. Thanks for all the work you've put in to teaching us on UA-cam
Jack Ambrovich Thanks a bunch man!! Means a lot!!
Very good explanation,thankyou.GT
As always - thankls so much for this fantastic lesson again, you're such a great and ecouraging teacher. Your lessons really help a lot.
PatP Thanks a lot man!!
Always enjoy these videos of yours.! Something that you do is something that I picked up and really helps on these exercises… a quick strum of the “key” chord right before each little run in the exercise..! It develops my ear and at the same time lets me have that key in my head so I know I’m on target..👍🏼 Thanks GT..!
Keep em comin…!
Just bought your CD. VERY nice. Not just one genre. You are very good technically. Excellent. Thanks also for the great lessons.
This is a great way to mix scales and arpeggios. Thank you so much & have fun in Ca.!
James Robinson Thanks man!!
Happy for you man. Love your videos
BurqueBone Griego Thanks man!!
This is mind blowing and so simple at the same time. I've been longing to figure out how Vince Gill plays the way he does and I believe your lessons have opened the door for me. Now to go re-listen to all of his music with CAGED in mind... Thanks so much!
This is great stuff Guthrie! This is finally making sense to me. Thanks so much
Reno Great!! Thanks man!
Man that’s a great exercise!
After the latest video, going back and watching this excercise…… wow
Absolutely the best instruction anywhere, Thanks Guntry
Why have I never thought to do this? Good stuff!
no fancy editing, no fancy graphics, JUST PURE GUITAR KNOWLEDGE, thank you, enjoying artistworks btw!
Great lesson. Thanks Guthrie, you explain things the way I understand easily. BTW I've been playing waaaay longer than you have been alive. Back in the day I even made a living playing. You are lightyears beond me. Thanks again, you're an inspiration.
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos Guthrie!
Your tips probably saved me many months (or years) of fumbling around. I'm trying to get better at guitar during quarantine.
Awesome stuff as always!!!
Michael Kates Thanks !!
Very generous. Thanks Guthrie. Keep in keeping on and more power to you man.
Brock Barr Thanks man!!
Great lesson! And great painting in the background!
Eric Thibaut Thanks man!!
Guthrie, thanks so much for your lessons. I learn more from you then anyone on UA-cam. I've been playing for over 40 years and have a reputation where I'm from as a player, but frankly, I don't know shit. I fly without a net most of the time. You move along at just the right place and make it comprehensible without getting too far out there. I will continue to tune in. Cheers buddy!
Thank you for this! So many guitar things make sense to me now.
ApprenticeBaiter Thanks man!!
Yeah. I need to do this. Good practice advice. Thank you.
