I love that tele
This is the best pentatonic soloing lesson I’ve ever had in my life I suppose
No need to ever apologize. You are kind enough to put up these videos for free so there is nothing to be sorry for if you are too busy to put some out. 👍🏻
Chris Lester Thanks a bunch man!!
Thanks for all you're doing Guthrie! Don't be shy about the sales pitch. You have something great to offer and your viewers need to know about it.
Thanks man! I really appreciate that! Happy to help.
. stll a huge fan GT.. . Keep doing what ya doing..
Agreed been learning so much from Guthrie
So a little disclaimer here- I misnamed a few notes in the first A7 blues chord. Its.. C# (1st finger 4th fret A string), G (Ring finger 5th fret D string), B (Middle finger 4th fret G string), E (Little finger 5th fret B string). Sorry for the confusion if any! Thanks friends!!
Guthrie Trapp great video lesson. This is an A9 (B is the ninth). Keep the videos coming!
Richard Goodman dumb question..,but without an A in the chord, what makes it an A9? I thought the chords had to have a root in them
It’s implied. If the bass player is playing an A it works as an A 9. It can also be a half diminished chord with a different bass note.
So glad you clarified the notes and the implied character of the first ‘A’ chord, i have been foxed for days trying to work out why it was an ‘A’. Had to rely on the fact that whatever it was it sounds good!
What's up my man! Thx for all your time. Your lessons have really opened things up for me... As you play with feeling, it's your teaching style as well. You know what to say and how to explain things
Great to see you back! Don’t apologize for wanting to make a honest living. You earned it! What you do is great. Keep it up!
Thanks so much man!! Means a lot!
Agreed - anything but a non-talent. Wish I could see him perform live.
Music is a language. You speak it well.
MCKENDRICK MUSIC Thanks a bunch man!! Agreed, it is a language!
the guitar and the painting match perfectly...its like a picaso portrait of that tele
Coming back to this years later to brush up on basics, but gotta say my man.. you look great now compared to some of these older videos. Proud of you boss.
Man your bends are from another planet.
Thanks man!!
Definitely do the private lessons! I did. Game changer. Worth every penny.
Timothy Hansen Thanks a bunch man!!
Maybe the most valuable of all Guthrie’s free lesson videos because he has us focus on saying something musical with only four notes. What a great exercise! Transcription of this lesson coming soon.
This one finally opened my eyes to UA-cam lessons. You talk about the ears and not the notes. Can’t teach soul. But you do have soul. Thanks brother.
I have to confess Guthrie, you're the only UA-cam channel that when I start watching I know it's pretty darn certain that it's safe to just go ahead and click that like button. There's bound to be actual useful and relevant guitar fundamentals being demonstrated. For that we thank you!!! The community is far better for it!
Chris Guitarist Thanks so much man!! Means a lot.
Dang. Love your lessons. Keep em coming
Love all the phrasing between 14:40 to 15 :00
Robert Richter Thanks man!!
Always thanks Man 🤙🏻
Great lesson....thank you Guthrie!
Phrasing has always been difficult for me to lock down. I'm not even sure if I'm spelling it right. But the way you described working on four notes, the way your uncle showed you, and how to bend to notes that matter, those are guitar instruction gems. Lights came on like Yankee Stadium as to how I need to practice! This is how to get the sounds in my head under my fingertips. It'll have to be after the first of the month but I'll find your paypal and send twenty bones too. Thanks Guthrie, your videos are packed with gems just like those.
Stephen Lewis Thanks so much for the encouraging words man! Means a lot. So glad it clicked for you!

Very inspiring watching your videos. Been playing a long time but always something new to discover, especially when guitarists such as yourself put such a great unique spin on the blues :)
Thanks mate! All about the phrasing, chord shapes in scales, it’s all the same stuff . . . Best teacher I ever had/have!
Dude, I gotta tell you...I love everything about these videos. You're in your living room, your tone is always on point, and even when you're showing something that I've done a billion times before and think I already know inside and out there's always a new idea in there that I have never thought about before. I look forward to these!
trushack Thanks so much man!! Really means a lot. I’ve never been one to get too fancy. Ha.

Man thank you for these free lessons. You are a great teacher and I appreciate the time your putting into this. Definitely gonna check out the paid videos, im sure there worth every dime.
I lived in Nashville for 10 years and was really growing as a player when I discovered you at Don Kelly’s gig. Had a big impact on my playing. I’m really glad you are doing these. We met once in passing but it was quick. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Great stuff brother
Very cool! Thanks a bunch man!! Hope to run into again sometime!
If you are ever in central Arkansas playing I’ll come out.
Great to see you again Guthrie. I love the lesson. Tonight college football starts with your home boys, Miami vs Florida Gators. Who ya got ? LOL 😂
VonBluesman Thanks man!! To be honest, I’m an Auburn fan. Not huge into sports though. 😎👍🎶
Guthrie Trapp That’s one of the perks about playing guitar, you turn the sound of the television on mute and play away. 👍👏🙏🎸😎
Hey bud. Great lesson. You summarised valuable infos that, as a beginner, took me months to gather. Great teacher right to the point! Blues on!
It’s like a srv’s so excited song !
New fan from Ottawa, Canada here. Love your videos, you're a great teacher and amazing player! Cheers!

I watch him and new worlds open up. I’m just in the perfect place on my learning curve to catch invaluable insight. He’s still miles over my head but I get so much to work with. What a great teacher.

Guthrie.I watch your videos regularly.Great stuff. Thanks for unlocking the fretboard for us more average guitar players.Maybe you could do a couple of videos on mixing major and minor Pentatonics. That would be well worth watching.Thank you for your lessons.

Joe Minnes Thanks and thanks!!

Thanks man!
I wish that everyone with the desire to learn Blues would watch this.
You are one of those teachers who connect.
This teaches so much in just one video!
Mike Prehm Well thanks a lot man!! Glad you dig it!
Guthrie, keep puttin ($$) it out there. No worries man! you are a professional and pro's need to be compensated for your life's work! I dig your no-frills production. I contect to your style and thinking. You put a lesson out there and when I watch them over&over (rewind&playback) you give me tons of material underneath the lesson you are teaching. I have purchased your recordings, artistworks lesson and plan to be in Nashville in Oct19 and will hit you up next month for a live lesson. I have made so much progress but I don't have a friend/uncle or others to play with (do to my lifestyle) and give encouragement/direction so learning on-line is my path the knowledge. Thoughts and prayers to you, brother....Keep on pushing it!
Daniel Doke Hey man! Thaks a bunch for the encouragement. It means a lot. I’d be happy to get together here in Nashville. Just ping me when you head this way! 😎👍🎶
