The first Venom movie I actually appreciated, for the slow build and giving characters time to flesh out, before letting the titular character “Venom”, to turn the story upside down. Also the stunt work and body acting done by Tom Hardy was very well done.
Tom Hardy was hilariously awful, as opposed to the rest of the movie, which was just awful. Hardy knew he was making junk and went full retard, and , despite what Tropic Thunder argued, sometimes that's the right choice.
It's almost as if they are purposely trying to ruin the genre. "If we make the worst possible superhero films that we can, in the shortest amount of time possible... people will quit asking for superhero movies altogether !"
I’d accuse Disney of doing that. Eventually the MCU will just become so bloated that they literally cannot afford to keep it afloat anymore. Too many characters and too many movies that they’re too afraid to kill off because they need to keep their “diverse” characters
The most rational explanation I can think of is "Everyone is on the payroll of a rival studio". I mean, it would kinda explain why everyone does everything in their power to ruin whatever IP they're assigned to.
Sydney Sweeney would be a draw (for me anyway), except they made her plain and dowdy and her superhero outfit reveals zero skin so I’m not even sure why they hired her to begin with. Plus Shades of Gray lady is a charisma black hole. This will absolutely be Morbius 2: Wahmen Edition.
Yep, if I was making this movie and they told me we had Sweeney, I'd be retooling that script to focus on her - maybe cripple madame web in the opening scene then get Sweeney in the suit as early as possible and just eye-candy the heck out of this film.

Maguire is *not* too old for Spider-Man 4 if they just adapt the 1998 Spider-Girl series. It's a fun, well loved, storyline about Peter's stable but stern relationship with his daughter and how his age slows him down. The time gap is just about perfect now for it. No multiverse garbage, no yaas queen, no girl boss, just an honest sequel that stood on its own merits and still holds up.
Never heard about this Spider-Girl series... but honestly, in my experience, Spider-Man is maybe the only comic were a gender swap actually looked cool. In Ultimate Spider-Man they cloned Peter Parker, that resulted in multiple "versions" including a female clone, I know it sounds silly, but that take of Spider-Woman looks so cool, the way she fire webs through her finger tips, she has a personality of her own, etc.. and of course, recently we had Spider-Gween who is the coolest looking character in the Spiderverse animations. So yes, that first impression, the aesthetics and cool factor, Spider-Woman actually looks interesting, unlike the Super-Woman, Batgirls of the world
Hugh Jackman is arguably too old for Wolverine but he’s back for it. And he’s older than Maguire. Plus, it’s easier to switch the actor for a stunt man or the like if they’re covered top to bottom in their costume.
I agree. I actually think an older Spider-Man could work really well. I don't like teen Spider-Man. I think Spider-Man should have a great deal of responsibility in his personal life to mirror his responsibility as a superhero. Him being a husband with kids could work really well.

Madame Web is a super deep cut into specifically spiderman lore. She hasn't been relevant since at least the 90s and even then she was extremely fringe to the greater Spiderman Mythos. They don't understand her powers her character, or her purpose in the story and it's really obvious. They are casting a young woman in a role that in even her earliest appearances was always depicted as an old woman.
It's interesting how the passage of time seems to have changed in the age of social media. Drinker talks and Madame Web seeming like it came from different Era of filmmaking: five or six years ago. In the past when someone was talking about a different "era," it's decades to centuries, now it's a handful of years. I hear "this happened years ago, way back in 2018-2019," all the time, platform wide.
When she went to the clinic and told the nurse she identified as an arachnid, the entire theatre leaped out of their seats, waved lghdtv flags and cheered biden 2024! ❤

I'd like to believe that every studio has secret infiltrators from a competing studio, and they're all trying to sabotage each other. As a result, everyone sucks because it's all offense and no defense.
We really do seem to have entered the era where corporations need a counter-intelligence department, just to keep out the infiltrators. (Ideological or rival driven doesn't matter, they're both dangerous.)
Madame is a full on movie? I thought it was gonna be a tv series like She Hulk or something. Oh man, this is gonna be disastrous. And I'm here for it 😎
The only major release I’m looking forward to this year is the second part of Dune. It’s over 40 years since I first read the book and I’m hoping they’ll continue to tell the same story. Outside that there seems to be a lot of flogging horses that were dead years ago.
And they delayed it from the fall to the spring. Why? Because of the writer's strike, so the female love interest has a leftist actress who should not play that role, nor the role of Mary Jane. She refused to promote the movie on talk shows in solidarity with the strike. And oh no, we can't have a movie without blabbering it up on the HOLY TALK SHOWS. We would miss the audience that watches those trash shows, and clearly that audience is what matters. (People who have actually read the novels? You are nothing. Go away. Especially don't tell anyone that Liet Kynes was a White man with red hair, not a Black woman, and that Chani was his daughter, not a Marxist Latina.)
In the book the banquet was pivotal as Kynes went to the Atreides side. How much impact did that have? Paul wasn’t accepted by the Fremen until he killed Jamis. So the banquet becomes optional to the film. Paul has to be accepted so he has to fight Jamis. It’s also important in being his first kill. In the book that happened at night, without stillsuits, in the Cave of Birds. Did it have to be that way? Cheaper and easier to film during the day. Would moving it to daytime change the importance of Paul killing Jamis? Things get changed or left out when transferring from book to film. If you take away the banquet what does Kynes do? Take the Atreides to see a spice harvester, and get killed by the Sardaukar after Paul had gained his loyalty. The gender swap in the film doesn’t eliminate those. The film isn’t telling the story of Liet-Kynes. As for girlbossess. Herbert filled his books with them. Bene Gesserit, Fish Speakers, Honored Matres. The universe of Dune isn’t one for haters of girlbosses.
@@darrenjones5885 Except the Bene Gesserit in this movie are weepy losers. And the strong Duke doesn't care if his son carries on his house, but just wants him to be free. Two changes that completely alter the foundation-stones in Paul's life. The harvester scene in the book is critical because it shows how riddled the society is with traitors - there is no air support. The movie completely screws this up, and also has one of Paul's first spice visions there, which is ridiculous because he's been taking spice his whole life. And I think they even have him rescue the Fremen which is also absurd because instead in the book he sees in that scene how they do what everyone else thinks is impossible - striking out across the desert. Changing Kynes is completely absurd in a WARRIOR culture which puts men on the front lines and women NEVER if at all possible. Of course in modern days this is impossible because the idea that women should remain at home to raise children is against the 'Message'. So then that has to be changed too. The movie doesn't JUST change a thing or two to serve the different medium... ALMOST EVERY DETAIL is completely different and in fundamental ways which show that the director doesn't have the slightest idea what held the books together and their cultural precedents.
Odd, my reply to grrinc was hidden unless "Newest Comments" is selected. Let me try it, again... Ad Popularum. If you enjoy it, I'm pleased you found something that speaks to you and for you.
If the movie takes place before a certain movie Spider-Man is born and the villain wants to prevent his birth and it's 2003, then it can only be Tom Holland's version, and even his Peter Parker was born in 2001. Not to mention that it's not MCU...
Interesting origin story: "Well you see my Mum saw some spiders once. Then she told me about it. And so that's how I got these psychic powers! Cause spiders are well known for being able to talk to people telepathically."
The reason the Venom movies make money is because Venom is genuinely Marvel's second most popular character. Sometimes he's even their highest seller. Venom and Spider-Man are 2 of the only comics that sell beyond just Batman these days. That and those movies are entertaining enough that people campaigned to put him in the MCU (back when it was good). Sony doesn't realize that there's a difference between making movies of 2 of the most popular characters who's comic runs carry Marvel and supporting characters who rarely can even carry a 5 issue run.
I think Garfield would make more sense longterm, but I still think people still want to see a fourth Raimi film that little bit more. I'd say that although it may be like trying to have your cake and eat it too to do both, but what better plans do Sony have? They've squandered any chance at wider Spider-man universe they had already.
I know they don't understand or care... but fan loyalty is the only thing that keeps these things alive. As soon as that benefit of the doubt is gone? Guess what? "Spiderman" Means exactly as much as: "Buck Rogers" In terms of ROI. Sorry shills, word of mouth is a B.
So many flops thesedays we really need to make we distinguish the severity beyond opening predictions. Like from a range of Aquaman 2 (big flop) to The Marvels (epic flop). Opening predictions alone doesn't establish that, since Aquaman 2 actually opened lower than The Marvels, but made twice as much.
I find it such a bizarre idea for a movie. My only recollection of Madame Web is the old lady sitting on a tech-chair from the 1990s Spiderman cartoon, who had some connection with interdimensional travel or stuff like that from what I remember. How many people have actually ever even heard of this character, to justify a movie around some version of her? The Venom movies are pretty bad, but at least they feature a rather popular and basss lead character...
Same. That's was my first time learning about this character. From what I know she is supposed to be just this mentor figure for Spiderman like the ancient one in Dr strange. There's no way you can write a whole movie about her.
It's so obvious that these movies aren't being created by people that even care about the material when the creators can't even get the correct timeline it's supposed to be in right
At least they hired some symetrically inclined women this go around. 2 of which i believe, have exposed their goodly bits for the world to see! 4 of which, were spectacular!
I feel bad for all the talk show hosts who have to pretend like this is a massive Marvel movie. Just saw Dakota on Jimmy Fallon and it was cringe-worthy, speaking about the movie as if it's Infinity War.
I'm pretty convinced that the reason Venom gets the random engagement it does is from the relationship between Venom and Eddy. I think the two have just enough chemistry to get people back just for the charm for those two, probably just because they remember them fondly, subconsciously anyways lol.
I had no idea what "Madame Web" even was until I started seeing videos from you in my subscriber's feed about what a big flop it was gonna be. I guess that speaks for itself, doesn't it?
Andrew Garfield should get his 3rd movie in combo to Venom getting his. We can see Spiderman "not pulling his punches" as he described in No Way Home. The Venom Symbiote can initially attach to this Spidey and help give him the edge over his opponents. Hardy can help talk sense into him and get Venom back, then team up to beat the final villain. Maybe throw in Black Cat as an ally too, introduce MJ at the end. It doesn't need to be that complex.
My favourite part of the trailer is when Madam Web drives over to the field where her alcoholic dad is comically crop dusting the wrong field and when he lands she says to him " Lucas's farm is on the other side of town! " Fantastic
The second it was revealed Spider-Man wasn't in Morbius it was literally dead-on arrival. Only reason anyone showed interest was because they were expecting one of the Spider-Man's from No Way Home.
Well they put in some major research effort into the alignment chart for 3.5. Even going into the philosophical meaning of Good and Evil in the Book of Exalted Deeds and Book of Vile Darkness respectively. It sounds bizarre, but I've still got those two books because damn if the examination of the game mechanic meaning of Good and Evil isn't fascinating.
They obviously wanted to make a female Spider-person movie. So why not use the second most successful Spider-person, behind Peter, his daughter May-Day, Spider-Girl. She is literally the only other Spider-person who could carry their own title. She sold better than Miles ever has. Plus Toby is the perfect age to play her father.
Brilliant. It'll never happen, because then she'd naturally ask her positive father figure, Spider-Man, for advice. I'm guessing they're setting it up so Spider-Man has to ask Madame Web for advice. Then she'll chide and emasculate him, and he'll screw up because he failed to heed her advice. Then in the end, she'll suddenly rescue him and 'show him how it's done'.
Let’s be honest all anyone wants from Madame web is for Sydney to have a series of wardrobe malfunctions as everyone else gets Fridged one by one Then in spider man 4 we can get Sydney and zendaya fighting for spider bag supremacy Even Sydney really isn’t much to look At when dressed like a depressed librarian I miss when comic movies had gratuitous hotness Boobs + muscle + heroism and unhinged villainy = billions
I believe the draw with Venom was that everyone knew, even with the liberties they took with his origin, eventually he'd cross paths with Tom Holland's Spiderman. They teased it after Strange screwed up the multiverse. Of course, everything is pretty much shot to hell now. The multiverse was already a complicated storyline, but any DECENT WRITERS could have made something of it. I don't understand the Disney business model and I stopped trying a long time ago. Sony seems to be following suit. How do you try to put Morbius behind you? By taking two of their writers and giving them the chance to do worse. GENIUS 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Did you consider that the films flopping is also helping with job security of executives? If Marvel would still earn billions with each movie, any director that is making less would be in trouble. Now since everything flops the same directors can point to other failing movies and say it is not their fault. Also since they had be success at one point, they can't be fired since they are needed to fix the things that are broken. Bob Iger got a massive pay increase while the projects he is responsible for lately are all turds. Gunn is probably just earning millions just by showing up for work.
I would totally support a *Amazing Spider-Man 3* movie. But only if it's well written. That scene in No Way Home where Andrew Garfield caught MJ made me tear up. That was a well written scene.

If this movie was rated R and had spider titty, I'd probably go see it in theaters ngl
The first Venom movie I actually appreciated, for the slow build and giving characters time to flesh out, before letting the titular character “Venom”, to turn the story upside down.
Also the stunt work and body acting done by Tom Hardy was very well done.
Tom Hardy sells that movie imo.
Tom Hardy was hilariously awful, as opposed to the rest of the movie, which was just awful. Hardy knew he was making junk and went full retard, and , despite what Tropic Thunder argued, sometimes that's the right choice.
Under Sony’s current deal with Netflix through 2026, Madame Web should be on Netflix by this summer. You’re welcome.
Zack Snyder’s Madame Web.
Not only full of expositions, but also having them in a super slow motion.
Rebel Moon still made more money than DC projects post Zack Snyder.
@@AncestorEmpireGaming That was such a low bar
And darker than closing your eyes
If Zack Snyder it'd still be better than this CW crap. It would be bad, but in a different way.
Super slow motion, like the box office revenue ticker.

Also why is this named after only _one_ character if it's apparently some kind of team movie?
I agree thats the real question @@EvilDoresh
Maguire is *not* too old for Spider-Man 4 if they just adapt the 1998 Spider-Girl series. It's a fun, well loved, storyline about Peter's stable but stern relationship with his daughter and how his age slows him down. The time gap is just about perfect now for it. No multiverse garbage, no yaas queen, no girl boss, just an honest sequel that stood on its own merits and still holds up.
Sony is leaving so much money on the floor by not doing SM4 and TASM3
This. So many good stories to adapt from the comics.
Mauler´s Stuckmann impression was awesome. 😂
Not trolling anyone, genuinely curious: where did all the Stuckmann hate come from? I mean I kind of get what they’re saying and it’s hilarious, but why is it now a thing?
Because now more than ever before, Stuckman just gives the absolute blandest, non threatening, on the fence, refuse to say anything negative type of film criticism. To people who actually have opinions and work hard to express them in an enjoyable and informative way, such as drinker and Mauler, Stuckman is infuriating.
@@flyinpigmusic331 lol gotcha. Ya he does tend to just parrot the studio narrative. I distinctly remember him saying how much he loved the last Jedi.
@@p3t3r6i115 Stuckman is a studio shill "reviewer" trying to suck his way into Hollywood. Stuckman's Shelby Oaks "fan" funded movie will prove that he is just a wannabe hack.
I recall the video he made specifically talking about how he is going to stop bashing movies and will only review movies that are not mainstream. Yet since then, he has reviewed mainstream movies. Second, if he was seriously passionate about his stance, he would delete old videos where he bashed movies. Even all 4 of his live action dragonball reviews. That latter part is my opinion though
Otherwise, he's been doing it for a long time. When there is experience, there also comes perspective. I need to defend him because I think he's a genuine guy and also a newer father.

Bloody ageists, the lot of 'em.
Technology changes so fast now that we are accelerating eras. Also Covid happened and makes everything seem 5 years farther away

They really think I’m gonna spend $50 to go see Dollar Store spider-cat-woman played by a barely watchable actress.
Bless their hearts.
A movie rendition of Peter David's Madame Web might have been worth watching, this is just Sony's version of The Marvels.
They didn't tell the story of Dune in the FIRST movie. They just wore its skinsuit and filled it with GIRLBOSSES.
No one on this thread even saw Dune clearly. There were barely any women in it at all. Get therapy.
I've seen both Venom movies and I can tell you there is a body hugging goo monster, teeth and sarcasm....

If the movie takes place before a certain movie Spider-Man is born and the villain wants to prevent his birth and it's 2003, then it can only be Tom Holland's version, and even his Peter Parker was born in 2001. Not to mention that it's not MCU...
Really goes to show the quality of a product being relesed when the first we hear of the product is through a creators 2nd channel.
Interesting origin story: "Well you see my Mum saw some spiders once. Then she told me about it. And so that's how I got these psychic powers! Cause spiders are well known for being able to talk to people telepathically."
That was the version before three or four re-writes.
"It's so nice that they made a film. Thank you." Best Stuckman review, ever!
Madame Web is the most anticipated movie of 2004

I think Garfield would make more sense longterm, but I still think people still want to see a fourth Raimi film that little bit more. I'd say that although it may be like trying to have your cake and eat it too to do both, but what better plans do Sony have? They've squandered any chance at wider Spider-man universe they had already.
I didn't think Tobey looked that old in No Way Home. They could always make a movie centered around an older Peter Parker.

I couldn’t believe the marketing for Madame Web “marvel going in a all new direction”. No its M She U and its all we have got since End Game.
It's so obvious that these movies aren't being created by people that even care about the material when the creators can't even get the correct timeline it's supposed to be in right
I'd be surprised if they are even being written by people at this point.
I need to know more about this Stuckman beef. I'm missing something, but it's hilarious everytime I hear it.
At least they hired some symetrically inclined women this go around. 2 of which i believe, have exposed their goodly bits for the world to see! 4 of which, were spectacular!

Just saw Dakota on Jimmy Fallon and it was cringe-worthy, speaking about the movie as if it's Infinity War.
I would rather just watch Infinity War again, tbh.
Don't feel bad for them, they are all assholes
Not even Sydney Sweeney in a superhero outfit can save it.
Venom does well because of Tom Hardy. It's as simple as that.
He was the only reason I watched it, I did enjoy it, though.
