Typical US commentators - for some reason almost every US fighter "had an off night" against Lewis. Why weren't they taking the fight to him? Why were they throwing away the opportunity? Foreman got it right with the Tua fight - it's because Lennox was out-boxing them and they couldn't get to him. Never got the credit he deserved - particularly in America.
Lewis never got the respect in boxing he deserved. A very tough, and skillfull boxer. He had a strong right hand that leveled most heavyweights. Tyson Fury wouldn't last against the Lion. Lennox is a true warrior. 👍
I just remember that Tony during the match against Mike, don't succeeded to smash Mike with a SINGLE fist the prime Mike. Here while Tony put at the target some good punches combination. True, Tony twice at the carpet, but nothing of very and definitely distructive comes by Lewis. Prime Mike vs the best Lewis, it's what I wanted to see..
Lennox lewis was a great fighter, better than any American during that era and literally beat every american shaming the same. But lennox lewis must not have been made to fight in the heavy weight division. They must create a super heavyweight division for big boxers like him.
He often looked amateurish especially the first half of his career, heavy legs (but he could jump at his opponent) and no rhythm at all..but monster right hand and a telephone pole jab. 6ft 5 and a fit 250? lbs. = mortal danger
If Tony Tucker got in the ring and went the distance with Lennox Lewis then it's absolutely no excuses that Riddick Bowe can use for why he didn't defend the belt against the The Lion. Maybe it was the overhand right that dropped Tucker that had him shook, I SEE THAT NOW!!!!!😳🤣🤣🤣
Bowe had already lost credibility and thrown the world title belt in the bin to avoid Lewis some time before this fight so whatever happened here had nothing to do with Bowe's chickening out of a Lewis fight.
@@markhiggins8315 That's precisely my point. Riddick Bowe didn't fight either one of these guys vs Lennox who did the very opposite. Lennox fought everybody he was supposed to fight in his career just like Holyfield did and they never dodged anybody for any reason. As great as Riddick Bowe was he now looks like fake champion for what he did and his struggles with Andrew Golota outside of the nut shots he took solidifies just how sad his situation ended. It's a "DAMN SHAME"!!!!!😩
Watching this fight……. Tucker was a beast. Got the knock down but needed more stamina. Don’t know if age at this point was catching up to him or not but getting the knock down on Lewis showed how talented and strong he was. Slipping and falling showed me he was getting older and fatigued
Wow, big props to Tucker, was fighting sh*tty the first half, went down twice and still managed to give a good fight and go the distance. It is true this wasn't the best performance from Lewis, but he's still the most underrated heavyweight champ.
My verdict on Lewis is that he always fought fighters that we're at least 4/5 or even 6yrs past there primes...There's a whole list, Let's just start from Bruno & bruno was actually winning that fight & this guy tucker & holyfied at least 10yrs later & then when he fought a noteble fight in klitko look what happened & he promised him a re match and didn't deliever & let's not forget tyson 12 yrs past his prime in around the year 2000, Tyson was a force to be recon with in mid 80s early 90s, But Lewis wasn't redy at that time...He only become a good boxer under stewart if there was no stewart there wouldn't been Lewis.
Lewis himself was passed his prime against a prime klitscko and still won. the vast majority of lewis's opponents where younger than him, Tyson was kod in 1990 age 23 by buster douglas, outboxed and knocked out!! The ONLY legend on Mikes record is Larry Holmes who was 18 years mikes senior, retired and hadn't won a bout in 3 years.
@BiggieBigLnPac Ye right now you've started something...Lewis won the fight in own head vs klitko & the cut saved Lewis...Did you hear the crowd reaction...I guess you was watching a different fight to me & talking about Tyson at the time that he fought Douglas he was not ready mentally & physically, But the mental part plays a major factor...He at that time could have lost to Bruno a fight before Douglas & Bruno with all due respect to him had only power nothing else...& talking about holmes wasn't he the same guy he went the distance at the the tender age of 40/50s vs holyfied & actually beat mercer if I'm not wrong during that time, Any answers to that.
@BiggieBigLnPac Style makes fights...Training regime in how discipline a fighter is & good trainer too, People perhaps sometimes neglect that factor, I think holyfied was good but the experience that he gained from old school trainers such as lou duva emanuel & the list goes on was essential to his resermough
You need to study Lennox style. Most of the oponent didn't. You need to have a good left to surprise Lennox chin 4-5 times & then land the right. That's how Lennox go down. If you think you can work Lennox all night, you'r wron, cause Lennox was a boxer.
Good morning you were watching a different fight bro. First time l ever read or heard anything about a Tucker win in this fight. When you awake from your dream you should look at the fight again.
Lewis didn’t look like a champion in this fight, he showboated at times, slacked off at times, and looked just plain lazy most of the time. He didn’t earn the respect of a champion in this fight because he could’ve ended up getting knocked out with the way he didn’t keep his guard up.
Lewis never dared to accept reematch against Vitali Klitschko when he got screwed up by Klitschko in the first fight.. Muhammad Ali the greatest of all the time would knockout Lennox Lewis with eyes closed 😅
I don't think you saw Klitchkos face after his fight with Lewis. It's Lewis who screwed him up and not the other way round. Lewis did him a big favor by not agreeing to a rematch under any circumstance. Lewis would have bashed in the other side of his face as well. It's the same with Frank Bruno. The public just wouldn't like it.
@@olawaleesan4672 it was a cut on his eye wich happend by a lucky cowardly Lewis punch but Klitschko was alright and ready to countinue fighting because he has the heart of Lion ! But the stupid ref stopped the fight and that was the only reason Lewis won even though Klitschko screwed him up in all rounds and would surely win the fight but then the chicken Lennox did not dare to accept reematch when Klitschko said I want reematch but instead run away and retired from Boxing cowardly with very very lucky victory shame on him !
@@MiddleEast-4Ever oh really? You think it requires luck in order to bash in your opponent's face like that? I DON'T THINK SO. Do you think Lewis won that fight because he was lucky? I DON'T THINK SO. EITHER. The fight was stopped because Klitchkos corner men threw in the towel to save him from any further punishment. That in my opinion was the right thing to do. Those injuries on Klitchkos face are one of the worst injuries I have ever seen on a boxers face. There was too much blood streaming from his left eye. And finally, what was the point in having a rematch? What more did Lewis have to prove to the boxing world after that fight? Lewis quit while he was ahead, at his peak. He has made his money, left his mark in the sport, and he walked away peacefully and sensibly. He is the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time and a real gentleman.

It's because he's a Brit. The Americans couldn't stand being bested by a brit
My money would be on Fury.
Really? I think peak Lewis was unbeatable.. by anyone

When you consider Lewis beat every opponent he's ever faced, it tells you all you need to know!
The commentators to this fight were a complete partisan joke.
Lennox Lewis is living legend!🎉
Lewis in the early days relied more on raw power. When Emanuel Steward took over his training he became much more effective.
He often looked amateurish especially the first half of his career, heavy legs (but he could jump at his opponent) and no rhythm at all..but monster right hand and a telephone pole jab. 6ft 5 and a fit 250? lbs. = mortal danger
Stewart was by far the best coach I ever witnessed recreate a boxer!

America's can't take the fact that a British fighter it's a number one.... 🇬🇧®️🇮🇹🎩
I had been among those that had not given Lewis the respect he deserves. I have changed my mind.
The problem with Lewis was letting the other guy back in, when he could have finished him off.
That changed after he went to Kronk...
Lewis was best in the game at uppercuts
And hitting on the back of the head of his opponents. Like against Tommy Morrison and Donovan Ruddock, even Mike Tyson.
Lewis was coasting in this fight. Much better against Ruddick and Briggs
Tucker was a hard tough opponent. No push over
@@posniknelb6114 Yeah, he was the older man and stood up well to Lennox. Briggs was a better fight, it was great seeing Lennox toast Briggs.
Never fought Riddick Bowe.

He went the distance for 12 rounds. It seems like 1987 version of Tucker would easily beat Lennox Lewis
Yeah I agree.. When you see the footwork of a 87 tucker... and other comparisons.. To the 93 version there is no comparison...
