Nice explanation and demonstration.
Clear and concise. Thumbs up!
thank you!
Also, for one of my light switches, there is only a set of wires from the switch to the light bulb. There is no power cable. How could I connect the Sonoff mini in this situation?
Thanks
My light fixture has a red, white and black wire. How would I connect the red to the sonoff mini (2 way switch)?
Thanks for the video. For the 3-way connections, how do you connect common wires from both dumb switches to the sonoff's S1 and S2? That would require running the common wire from one of the switches to the other location where the sonoff module is located? I think only the two traveler wires are at both dumb switches, the common wire is unique to each dumb switch.
good question. for some reason, my wires were already in place when I was installing. so i was very lucky!
@@dablet Thank for the reply! I found another 3-way wiring video by Dr. Zzs, he talked about four different 3-way wiring scenarios, one of them is what you showed in the video. Of the four possibilities, one of them would not work with a Sonoff product, but the other three are possible. Apparently the key is to first figure out which wiring scenario a particular installation uses. Your video gave me the confidence this can be done and the presentation is very clear. I appreciate that!!
Do you know if this relay can be paired with a Philips Hue Bridge?
Sure IF the Hue requires 120v ac for power
How many degrees Celsius can the ZBmini Sonoff handle before it melts?
I don't know. I only use it for lights. And max amp of 15
And what would be the wiring to the sonoff switch when you have 3 dumb switches(4 way connection)? Or it's not possible? :(
i believe it's possible though i have never done. you can try looking at the Zooz zwave switch and there is a diagram to do it.
@@dablet Thanks, I did look at it. But I couldn't figure it out, or it's not possible in my case...
Because in their diagram the third dumb switch is replaced with the smart one, but in case I need to control my three dumb switches and additionally connect sonoff switch.
Also looked at their 5 way diagram with 4 dumb switches, where 3 dumb switches are left as before and one is replaced with the smart one.
Almost as I want it, but with four dumb switches there has to be 2 multi switches(4 wires each) and 2 ordinary(3 wires), when in my case I have 1 multi switch(4 wires) and 2 ordinary(3 wires)...
For a three way switch system then, would I need to purchase two Sonoff Mini devices?
no. you only need 1 sonoff. keep your existing 2 dumb switches and they will work in manual mode.
@@dablet I've been reading about the benefits of sonoff mini vs shelly 1 devices. Curious to get your take on it. If I went with Sonoff, I'd probably get the Zigbee version.
