Great to have you back. Fantastic watching a family all work together to solve a problem while camping with a bit of bad weather very inspiring as usual all keeping a level head and smiling 😅
Cheers mate. Was a epic trip and so good to have the dogs with us. The heat and humidity definitely made it a little uncomfortable, but can't complain when the water is 100m from camp 🤠👍
Only just watched this video Ahh my home town have camped on facing for years I reckon it’s one of the best places to go other then the barge costs ,there is really not many people there most of the time pretty easy driving around most of the island great fishing out the front good swimming can tow your boat and launch at the beach You made a good decision not to drive over them mudflats seen many a car bogged to the eyeballs and not a easy recovery Cheers for the video
You guys really show how experienced you are when things go bad. Like storms hitting your camp set up. So calm cool and collected. Looks like a beautiful place to visit!
Thanks Jas, it was probably the biggest storm we've camp in, and the strongest winds. Facing Island is spectacular, definitely worth a visit, cheers mate 👍
You survived! What a storm and a spot. Love how you guys surprise us with these hidden gems that are dog friendly...any plans for another get together this year?
When camping in stormy wet weather best to secure the guy ropes with a half hitch around the poles and extra guy ropes . Then with a shovel dig a drain around your camp to allow the water to flow away . When putting up the awning have one side lower than the other to prevent pooling . Position the awning away from prevailing storms to reduce wind damage .
Awesum video yet again guys, and Yes I feel your pain on the dad stuff and packing up, packing down etc but it's what we do isn't it to make them happy? ha ha. Can't wait for the next video. 🤙
Good to be back, I definitely needed a break from social media and editing. Happy new year and merry Christmas to you to. Facing island was a great getaway and so much fun on that paddle board 🤣
The lip on the kitchen fold down. I drilled holes, cable tie and stainless steal cloths pegs, now tea towel and underwear drying. I got suction hooks from bunnings. I can hang my utensils on the bench support side.
I bought a blue tent pole base and a tent pole. First, I ground off the blue tent base anti slip knobs and glued it under the kitchen bench. I cut the top and bottom tent pole in half, and I cut the canvas tip off and pole to get it out and placed in the cut pole and pulled off the bottom and fitting. Now I have a bench support leg. I did have a timber block and drilled a 25 mm hole half throw. Now I have a base for the leg.
The zippers, I got the idea off a video feed off another channel. I made with para cord, flat tied zipper pullers. Just do not do left side external door zipper. It gets caught up. And you can not shut front door. But I have done it all around. I can see where the zipper is, and it's easy to pull to open or close the windows.
Summer in Queensland has been an interesting one this year. Good to see another video after a well-earned break. I have started building myself a camper trailer. Haven't taken it out three times now, and it rained each time along with stifling heat. Will hopefully have it more finished to show if there is a community camp later this year.
@@GoingOverland you need to schedule a fans event mid July next year, be great to meet you guys and we’re heading through to cape York from southern Mexico (Victoria) lol
Facing Island was so good, especially bringing the dogs along and having the whole family. I definitely prefer the bush, but cooling off in the water is magic, just keeping 1 eye open for 🐊🤣
@@GoingOverland Ha! "cracker" of a storm.... I saw what you did there. 😁 Looks like a nice island.... except for swimming at sunset. . 😁 Looks like easier accessible too.
Thanks mate, happy new year. Merry Christmas and Australia day to you too! We've been a little busy lately but still managing to find time to get away 🤠👍
Great vid, can't wait to visit there myself. 2 tip iv used for storms is to put a half hitch 2-300mm below the top of the tent pole so the rope also holds the pole and then hooks over the tent spigot as usual, also I drop the poles down to allow all rain to run off and give lower profile for the wind to catch, ps I thought erring on side of caution is not going swimming hahahah safe travels.
Awesome Ep to a lovely place guys, I use to go past that Island years ago on my way to Gladstone when I was pro line fishing up that way. Can catch sea worms and good whiting there.
Yeah on our last day Joe and Larissa got a fish each, made Joe's week! Such a amazing place, would love to come back when it's a little cooler. Thanks for watching and the support 👍 🤠
That was hectic Adam’s family haha, we’ve cancelled any camping trips because of this El Niño weather system, it’s not worth the Broken gear or stress, enjoyed that one a lot guys, cheers.
Yeah the weather this summer has been crazy, and the storms 😳 unpredictable! Cheers for the support, was a fantastic adventure and we really love anywhere you can bring a dog and not have to have them on a rope 😀
That was a good one. How have you found the smaller battery that you put in the back of the Patrol? I know you were concerned about it possibly not keeping up with demand.
Not so simple when it takes 5-10 minutes to pull down and fold away and then not much room to sit 4 people in our little camper, then another 10 minutes putting it up again either in the rain or the dark. The awning did OK considering the wind 🤠👍
? R u ok.? This is Queensland. 🇦🇺👍🦘 16:30 not sure about crocs , add dogs on the beach and now you also alert small to medium sharks . Don't Think it doesn't happen . Tyre pressures dropped = comfortable drive. Well done having a great family time 👍
Cheers mate was a fantastic trip, I think if we were a little further north then definitely no swimming, but by the sounds of what was happening on Fraser Island at the same time we should have been more worried about the Irukandji jellyfish!

Camping’ in the rain… can o’ cold baked beans for dinner!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍
Oh yes! Whatever you can get when the weather is a mess 🤣
Great sunny day at the beach!🤓

Good to see you back. Epic storm, well done for not jumping in the van.
🤣 I think if we let go of that awning during the storm it would have come crashing down! Can't really so how strong those winds were

Another Great Video. The good and bad side of camping. You all handled it very well. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it, definitely the biggest storm we've camped in, that wind was crazy 🤪
Always look forward to you videos

Yeah you'd think it's our first time camping 🤣
What a great video. Thank you so much. Yeah, camping during storms sucks! Good to see you guys still out there doing it.
Our pleasure, always good to go somewhere new, and facing island was fantastic. Cheers for the support 👍 🤠

Welcome back Going Overland family. Happy 2024. Nice spot and looks like you all had a great time 😊

Great to see my favourite Family’s back, was having withdrawals!
Beautiful spot and great vid
Glad you enjoyed it, good to be back out on a adventure to somewhere new! And how good is Facing Island 🤠🍻👍
What a great adventure. Facing island looks ok!
Amazing little Island, felt like a real adventure without being to far from civilisation

Great episode. 🙂 You call yourselves bush people but you've done your fair share of islands. This one looks lovely. Yes, even with those storms. 😛

Looks like an amazing trip away.
Wow! That storm!
Was a cracker of a storm especially when the smoke blew into camp, and the fact it lasted over 2 hours! But a beautiful island nonetheless 🤠

The heat won over being cautious 🤣. Great idea with the guide ropes, thanks for the tips👍🤠🍻
Happy new year guys. Great to have you back and what an epic way to kick off! Cheers.
Thanks! Happy new year to you too! Thanks so much for the support 🤠🍻👍. Can't wait for what we are planning late this year, something I've never done 😉

Yeah we have the results coming this Thursday, very interesting 😉
Subtropical island flood by rain that also on fire....Let me guess which country....
Australia...

First rule camping and using awnings.. If you know a storm is coming .. put your awning in 🤦♀️

Thanks Ruby, that couch is amazing! Perfect for camping, so easy to pack and light weight! And how good is facing Island!
