My father put a lot of those tracks in around 1960/64. I was a young kid then loved the real wilderness then . They did tracks over Mt Glorious,Mt Pleasant, Mt Mee, Mt Brisbane, Lacey's Creek. Loved it.
Pancake shaker 😂🤣 Tip: aerate the mix by shake the bottle first before filling with water. After filling it with water, tap the bottle upside down on the table first before shaking. This stops the mixture from sticking to the bottom. Looks like a great weekend you guys have. Gives me an idea what to do for my anniversary. 😁
I will be passing my Nissan patrol down to my kids after my camping days are done. Thay will enjoy it just like I have with them on our camping holidays. Great video as always
Yeah I'm thinking I might hire the patrol out to the kids now 🤣 I've really been enjoying the camping trips without the trailer. But either way the patrol is here to stay
Great episode, gives us an idea to drop our kids at my parents for the weekend and have a weekend away with out the kids. Good to hear the patrol may live on, it’s a valid point it’s age and remote travel etc. I plan to have my 2005 GU TD42 well into my retirement, we’ll have a new 4wd when we retire and keep our patrol for local trips etc. looking forward to the next episode 😊
Yeah the patrol has always been the dream 4x4, but doing 1000kms on corrugations will destroy it, so a second 4wd will be on the cards eventually. Great weekend without the kids, now they are a little less dependent on mum it's something we should do more of. Cheers for watching 🤠🍻
A great weekend away. It’s great to get those moments. Love the serene campsites. Great drone footage. Larissa you’ll have the best time having a girls only trip. Need a little step ladder. Yes agree exploring and adventuring is the best!
Yeah a step ladder would solve that, except when it's time to strap down the ladder on the roof 🤔😫🤣 nothing is ever easy. She's really looking forward to going, hopefully I can piece together a little video of there adventures
Fabulous watching you both keeping it simple. Well done Larissa for prepping for your K'Gari trip by learning the ropes. We really do have some great tracks in our backyard in SE Qld.
Hi Guys, I seriously just wanted to say “Thank You”. I do a lot of 4x4 traveling and touring and weekend trips with my mates. BUT, I would love to go for an overnighter or even a 2 with my wife. Bye-passing details, I have to say it wouldn’t be easy to do. BUT after watching your vid, DAM, I am going to have a go for it with my wife in a swag, at least have a go anyways. This comment is to say that thank you for your down to earth reality and not blowing smoke to where you know. (It seriously is appreciated). Stay good and again thanks for your inspiration.
Thanks so much Phil for your positive comment, you should definitely do a similar trip. We had a great weekend and can't wait to do it again, just need a baby and dog sitter 😁. Cheers for the support and really appreciate the kind words, great motivation 🤠👍🍻
well i never.. we were house sitting a place at Dayboro for 10 days around fathers day and i reckon we crossed Mt Mee a dozen times in that time..What a shame we never knew you guys were that close by. Loved your getaway anyway mate.
Ahhh my favourite 4wdriving and Camping areas in around Brisbane.. doing the same as you guys, we r camping with the kids this coming week at Bluff Creek but then doing just me and the Mrs a few weeks later at a Hipcamp up near Imbil, I think for every 5 camping trips with the kids the 6th Camp should just be you and the Mrs, just to get your Sanity back ha ha.
love your videos and your camping style except lighting fires on the ground and not in a portable fire pit. Agree about yahoos in QLD national parks, we don't go in school holidays or weekends any more. Keep up the good work always look fore ward to your uploads.
Love me a dirrty weekend away camping! Been a few years for us too 🤣🤣🤣 one day hahaha. Just a reminder for all married couples with kids. You need time together alone without the kids. ❤
there is a 4wd step that fits over the tyres..... it would be a step up on the step.... then more height, step on top the tyre..... used them for years doing truck windscreens..... as i get older.... i use it more
do a body off rebuild..... do a chassis rebuild ( diffs gu conversion if not already) check motor compression..... be prepared for a new donk...... but its all the accessories....the set up...... if the motor goes..... replace it..... saves a new vehicle purchase and then - setting up...... the last 4wd i bought is going to last me till i can no longer drive...... hopefully 30 odd years.... but i will repair all faults , not replace with a new car every 2 years .... your GQ is so good watching on the videos..... a well kept vehicle, not flogged with the " just send it " attitude of ppl that buy a new car every 3 or 4 years....
Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep the patrol for ever, but larissa will need a new car soon, so I'm thinking something comfortable on long outback trips for her, and the patrol for weekend adventures.
Great show guys! Nothing like a bit of mum and dad time 😉 What drone are you using? Maybe you could do a short info session on an upcoming vid?. Cheers Scoot
Thanks Scoot, was a great weekend, we have a old dji mavic air that we bought before the big lap, all 3 original batteries have finally died but managed to track down 2 new, otherwise it'll be $2k to get a new similar model
She's doing really well with it now, but still has exercises to do and it gets sore at the end of a long day. But it was a fantastic weekend and can't wait to do it again 😀
If the patrols already 30 years old now and you've kept the maintenance up she still going great and looks fantastic why wouldn't it last another 30 years if you keep looking after it , ok a new motor and gearbox down the track mabe but big deal , you know it easy maintenance do it ya self and their tuff not like the over priced new computerrised stuff that comes with weak front suspensions
Oh yeah it'll last another 30 years, but I don't want to keep doing those hugely corrugated roads with the patrol. we need a disposable 4wd we can replace every 10 years or so. Something that is relatively cheap and no emotional attachment, and also comfortable on long drives. Cheers for watching 🤠👍🍻
My father put a lot of those tracks in around 1960/64. I was a young kid then loved the real wilderness then . They did tracks over Mt Glorious,Mt Pleasant, Mt Mee, Mt Brisbane, Lacey's Creek. Loved it.
That's fantastic to hear, what incredible hard work that would have been, those hills are big! Incredible to think of someone having to do that!
@@GoingOverland it was very hard heavy work with only very small bulldozers compared to today. Enjoyed your video brought back memories.
Right from the get go you both looked stress free and relaxed, great vid.
🤣 no kids for a weekend will do that🤣. They are great kids, but so nice to have time to ourselves 👍🤠

Lovely episode guys. Great to see you and Larissa get some alone time.
Thanks Shell, it was a fantastic weekend 😀
Love Mt.Mee and love Rocky Hole to swim at. I think Date Night was a GOOD night by the sounds of it. Very pretty up there.
🤣 yeah we were going to go skinny dipping until we seen the turtles 😳
What a beautiful video. Thank you
Fabulous watching you both keeping it simple. Well done Larissa for prepping for your K'Gari trip by learning the ropes. We really do have some great tracks in our backyard in SE Qld.
Cheers guys, she's actually on kgari now and loving it, I'm so jealous 😫
Great vid - In our back yard... might have to do a few trips like that ourselves. - Waiting for the next tagaalong.
Hopefully early next year, I'll keep everyone posted. Definitely a nice place to explore 🤠👍🍻
Lovely Ep guys, We love free camps away from people to, theirs just something special about it.
Cheers mate 👍
Awesome episode guys. What a great change of pace that would have been for you.!
Yeah it was such a great weekend, definitely want to do more 🤠👍🍻
Wow what was a great vid guys loved it thanks 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, awesome fun filming it too. Thanks for the support 👍 🤠
Great vid.
Thanks so much for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching!

🤣 we were hidden in the bush, so nobody seen us, but it's a small world, maybe next time 🤠 👍

That was lovely episode. 🙂
Thanks mate 👍
Nice episode guys. It’s been a long time since we’ve been up Mt Mee way. Also a long time since we’ve been camping without the kiddies too.
Yeah it was a first for us without the kids and such a amazing weekend to have together. Cheers for the support 🤠👍

Definitely need to do more solo weekends, but it's so fun travelling with the whole family, just need more time off work 😩
@@GoingOverland dont we all guys! Or win lotto thatll solve all our problems hahaha

Thanks Frank, not a bad idea at all🤔
that was super cute guys good one
Thanks for watching 👍
That title is a bit risque Adam..lol! It's nice up there. I have good friends in Dayboro. Done some of those tracks when I had my 80 series .
🤣 yeah good old Mt Mee! You would have been there when it was a state forest are far less restricted. It's a little bit tame now

Cheers mate, it was a fantastic weekend with just the 2 of us, and Larissa really enjoyed driving, which is so easy without the trailer 🤠👍🍻
I don't live that far away from Mt Mee. It looks like a great place to visit and explore 👍
It really is! And lots of tracks we didn't even have time to explore. Cheers for the support 🤠👍

12:06 she totally missed that one mate, but it was a bloody cheeky one 🤣🤣
🤣👍🍻
Unfortunately we had the same experience in daguilar. Since then either the outback or Hipcamp :)
National parks are definitely getting a bad reputation, I always worry about camping in spots close to a big city, too many people there for a party
great video
Glad you enjoyed it🤠🍻
Great video and can tell you two had a fantastic weekend. Need the odd weekend off without the kids. How is Larisa's ankle holding up?
She's doing really well with it now, but still has exercises to do and it gets sore at the end of a long day. But it was a fantastic weekend and can't wait to do it again 😀
@@GoingOverland That's great to hear that Larisa is doing a lot better with her ankle 👍
mount me is one of the fun places we go
and local to us
9kg gas bottles fit in milk crates nicely
Yeah but might be a bit heavy to lift up. Just got a 4kg trailer holder and will bolt it on the roof racks, that should do the trick 😉
@@GoingOverland yeah
Have you seen the spare tyre gas cylinder mount by Kaon ?
Yeah that might be a good idea, I'll have to check them out, great trip, appreciate it 👍 😀
I vote pass the GQ down to the eldest daughter, keep it in the family. Mum and Dad upgrade to a Y62 tourer.
A y62🤔 I was thinking something smaller, maybe a Jimmy 🤣
Also, I think I know where that spot where you camped is.... hmmm ;-)
Looks like your camping in the National Park to me. 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

@@GoingOverland tank 300 or 500 lol

In 8-9 months time that will cause another 13-15 year wait for a no children trip. 😱🙈🙏👍🏻🦘
🤣🤣🤣 stop it 😫
