  • It would be great if every ride request was nearby and it was easy to accept them, right? Unfortunately, we all know that's not the case and sometimes we need to cancel or not accept certain rides. How do you do this, and will you get punished for your acceptance and cancellation rates?

Uber tries to send me on a 26 mile trip to give someone a 2 mile ride. Those are the ones I don’t accept

On the new Uber App you can't see your acceptance or cancellation rates like in the old app. So I guess the cancellation rate doesn't matter now either. If you can't see it, how can you control it?

Very curious about acceptance rates in August 2020. If I do not accept long trips or fast food trips (UE has lowered 10-12 mile trips from $9 to $5.50 in my area) (On fast food trips- I have noticed McDonald's has long wait times and the tips are usually lower with all fast food restaurants) will they penalize you in any way such as give you less trips, offer a higher percentage of lower quality trips or lower the amount of your delivery offers?

Every rideshare driver is an independent contractor, and not an employee, at least on paper, and based upon claims made by Uber and Lyft.
Of course, (at least in CA), this could change based upon future legal actions taken by the courts and state governments.
That being said, rideshare drivers are not legally obligated to accept any ride, and may cancel any ride that they have previously accepted, especially in light of the continuing charade played by Uber and Lyft, whereby they hide or conceal the destination from the driver.
Besides being controlling, and crossing the line between independent contractor and employee, this is very unprofessional, and a detriment to both drivers and passengers.
Passengers that I have spoken with are incredulous when they discover that drivers are not aware of their destination when a ride is accepted.
When a driver cancels a ride it can become a negative experience for both the passenger who is delayed, and the driver who loses revenue, time, and possibly has to endure the wrath of an angry passenger, etc.
This concealment charade occurs with Uber Eats orders too, as Uber conceals the name of the restaurant when a request is transmitted.
After all...what professional driver wants to accept a MCD order, where the driver must sit in a drive through lane for 15 to 30 minutes at 1 am in the morning.
The destinations and restaurant names are concealed because Uber is betting that the drivers will not cancel for various reasons, such as the threat of deactivation.
Again, drivers are independent, so if you do not want to perform a ride or a restaurant delivery, simply cancel, and don't worry about what Uber and Lyft think.

What about cancellations for Uber eats? Sometimes I'll accept an order and it says it's 8 minutes away, soon as I hit accept that 8 turns into 11 or 12 minutes, then I'll go click cancel and choose the option that it's too far. I don't think Uber cares because I have never been warned for this and I cancel eats requests all the time .

So if you have 15 seconds to accept, but you don't accept or decline, you just "miss it"? then it is just a miss? Does this affect your acceptance rating? or does it only go down when you decline and cancel?

great info, thanks 4 sharing. it was perfect timing. Bcuz this past Monday I started driving and I had 0% cancellation but during the day it changed to 1% but I never cancelled any rides and neither did my riders. I accepted every request. Why did this happen? Should I do something about it?

Uber Traxx Chicago a lot of drivers here have been switched to weekly challenges. Also they tried changing the heat maps here n all the negative feed back got them to change it back to the prime time heat maps. We're excited with this new change of the PDB and all the qualifications

Many drivers on Uber accept requests, then call the customer to determine where they're going. If it's somewhere they don't wish to go, they'll make an excuse why they cannot take them and that the customer needs to cancel the ride. As the NEXT Uber driver, I get to hear the customer's frustration. Drivers, if you turn the app on, do your job. And stop honking your horns every two seconds.

False info as of 7-28-21. In my market. declined trips count as cancellation for uber pro. Resulting in loss of benefits. Even if you cancel because passenger refused to wear a mask, or no car seat,or unaccompanied minor, or too many passengers. You will be discarded and benefits like all uber oto benefits will be blocked. You will also lose the travel time. And fuel etc. to pick up.

Im sick & tired of Fucking Lyft keep sending threatening letters & messages about canceling rides. Stop sending me 30 minute pings. The Only good thing about Uber is they don’t care, cancel as you wish.

Your passenger cancellation not affecting your cancellation rate does not Jibe with Harry's video on same topic 1 year ago.

    • @Therideshareguy
      @Therideshareguy  5 років тому

This is correct, Uber has said your cancellation and acceptance rates don't matter as they used to. Although we don't recommend making a habit out of canceling ride after ride, because Uber could put your account in a "time out" (i.e. assuming you're busy and not sending you ride requests).

Joe, I like your content. But watching you, listening to you and at the same time having to compose with music non stop is simply overwhelming.
Could you make a trial video with NO MUSIC??
I am sure you can very easyly and your rating will not suffer from doing so.
I just have one brain with two ears and need concentration over what you want to say.
    Thank you.
