Hello Missenden, thanks for the video, even with my sausage fingers, and enthusiastic help from my 5yo - i managed to install the shims on my 899, in about 15-20 mins - just in time for CV_19 lock down - boo hoo. I've ridden about 50km on straight roads and can testify that i now hold a constant speed much more easily. As soon as i can i'll take my regualr 200km loop out along the twisty roads of the Ho Chi Ming Road along the border with Laos. Cheers.

The new V4 Panigales come with exactly the same loose throttle. I don't understand why. Anyway I've got some spacers, I've got a V4, and I've got a rainy day. And now I've seen your very helpful video I'm off to the garage. I'm hoping that removing the slack will make finding the right revs for a standing start (without gunning it) a bit easier. Loose throttle and snatchy clutch make it a challenge to avoid stalling.

Yes isn't it a transformation - I was skeptical but it really does make the bike so much more rideable, glad you agree! ...and I use a GoPro Hero 4 on the helmet (full details in the description)....

It's interesting seeing what ride by wire internals look like, I kinda want a bike with ride by wire now simply because there's no cables to maintain/snap lol
Yes I like to know how things tick too, though having said that there were quite a lot of small pieces, flanges, seals, clips, nubbins, dingle arms, tremi pipes and whatever in there - I think the cable versions was simpler!
Yeah I have to say I hadn't really noticed a problem riding the machine (although that slack was definitely there as you saw) - will be interesting to see what difference I notice when riding....will keep you informed!
TheMissendenFlyer good stuff Like you say, the slops definitely apparent... but it's never caused an issue personally. Could be one of those things that you change and then discover that it was an issue you just ignored lol
I can't follow how play in the throttle makes the bike snatchy? My Vulcan S has no throttle play at all and it's hard to ride smoothly due to "pilot induced" throttle movement going over bumps etc - this makes the bike snatchy. I look forward to the road test! All the best, N.
That throttle jerkiness you mention, i (Ducati 899) suffer worst on tight 1st and 2nd gear corners, it's very annoying bordering on dangerous if i loose rev's mid corner, or jumps when i accelerate out of a low speed corner. Did you find that the spacer helps - smooths out the power delivery?
100% yes - that jerkiness caused me to drop the bike when pulling out of a T junction once - now I have the spacer the bike is easy peasy at slow speed....transforms the bike it really does.
Do you know that there are copy shops 3D printers where they design and print the designs you ask for? In no case would I pay 36$ for these spacer kit. Anyway, the video is very useful, thanks for your effort, like !!!

Yes very pricey for two tiny bits of plastic probably costing tuppence, however if it turns out to be as good as everyone says then I'll forgive the cost. Of course now you've seen how it's done you could just wind a few layers of decent insulation take around those lugs to achieve the same thing for free! ....at your own risk of course but did cross my mind afterwards....
Although I don't own a Panigale it was still a good video, very well filmed indeed. I was even more impressed though by your devotion to duty to make this video in the very cold conditions, so cold in fact you had to wear your padded overall The North Face Nuptse 700 Down jacket ;@) You would have thought that QC at Ducati wouldn't have allowed such a sloppy throttle to get past them.
factories purposefully leave the slack on so as to eliminate the risk of it catching while turning the clip-on's but here's the thing...this has ride-by-wire...so I don't know why they still do it. maybe it has something to do with those huge cats at the bottom of the bike or the ugly huge fenders, or the crab-eye turn signals...for a bike to be road legal, manufacturers have to abide by the laws (which we know are almost always outdated in tech)
I have a few questions regarding the spacer. Will it change the specifications for the butterfly valve? This model's ECU has an auto-tuning capability, about which I'm a little worried because parameters can change. I apologize for the question, but I need to know if the modification will benefit my bike because I want one. 😂

Yeah, like a previous comment...don't understand why this is an issue for anyone at all. After 6000 plus miles and many track days, never even noticed this until seeing some videos. Not sure how this affects warranty or safety if the product should fail somehow during riding. Seems like it's more of an annoyance with the bike sitting parked than it is actually riding. :-) Great vids MF. Cheers.

I've still not had the chance to try mine yet (too much ice about!!) - but it's certainly the cheapest Ducati mod I've ever had so I think it will be a value for money job....

TheMissendenFlyer the wall thickness of the spacer. Because it's a perimeter type insert, I am going to simply 3D print my own out of ABS (petroleum resistant plastic). I was hoping to get a jump start for wall thickness, but I'll pull my 1299S throttle apart to measure the lugs. I'll enjoy the process of building these, the cost it not really an issue, just the markup for ~30p of plastic and a tri-way bit that seems to be the wrong size is what drives me to do it myself.
It's 2020 and Ducati are still producing bikes with this throttle slack!!! I can't understand why though unless they're friends with the Throttle Spacers lad and want to keep him in business???
Bit late on this but I did 3D print them for my hypermotard, the file is available on thingiverse and they took 12minutes to print on a high quality setting and used 1 gram of filament.

Bit of feedback. You spend ages explaining that the screw head you got with the kit wasn't the right one. All you needed to say was, I'll use a different head as the one I got doesn't fit 😂. Think about interesting content for your viewers :)
I brought this for my 1199, the hype is overrated, i seriously don't think the difference is that noticeable. It does not 'transform' the way the bike feels like its advertised. And its way overpriced for what it is.

I sometimes think Ducati use screws made with Parmigiano Reggiano. We had a few on our Ducati race bike like that.

nah, it wasn't - all sorted. took the new one to the hardware shop and matched it up. for the record you need a 12mm hex driver.

I love the spacer as it was too easy to rev the bike release the clutch and then stall it out on my 1299.

@@TheMissendenFlyer I’m a bit of an idiot. The Triumph version doesn’t need for you to undo the tri screws. All fitted now. First impression is good. Just need the weather to warm up as I froze yesterday and too all evening to warm myself up again. Love your channel btw.
