ANDY WILLIAMS WITH EDDIE FISHER AND BOBBY DARIN. Un trio quasi comique chantant une version très personnelle de "DO RE MI" qui pourrait donner des leçons de spectacle à certains...
As Eddie said, he did this song in his night club act, so I am sure he knew the song pretty well. This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. Rest in peace Andy, and thank you for bringing so much joy to the world with your music.
This is a wonderful piece of television history, sadly lacking today. I enjoyed watching them while growing up and never missed the show, always entertaining to the max. These guys were total performers, very polished, unlike today. I remember Andy's statement on Eddie Fisher's passing. "I use to have him and Bobby Darin on my show and we would do numbers together. He (Eddie) use to blast the hell out of us". These guys had great respect for each other and were friends in the business, loyalty was a huge thing. Wonderful seeing these guys enjoying doing what they did best, entertaining their audiences. Rest In Peace guys you all made a difference to many lives, thank you for the memories!!!!!!!!
I'm always trying to learn stuff about the classic vocalists from the 50's and 60's. Could you tell me what you've read about Eddie Fisher and Bobby Darin indicating they hated each other?
I was born in late '63. I miss the pure class I see in these videos. I remember how things used to be. It has been a sad progression downward in our fine country. I greatly miss the 60's and early 70's. If we could only find our way back to more of who we were then. Morals and true character were so much higher that the total absence of what is seen today. Very sad reflection of our great country.
This is real quality of musical talent with class. Not to mention how these men dressed like men and I follow their styles of dress. Now looking at them, I want to get me a new tuxedo suit tailored, but I can't afford that here in Japan. But I can get it doen cheaper in Thailand for US$100. And how about a bow tie I can learn to tie myself? That's class! Most of all, it's all about the music, not about sex and image in most of today's garbage entertainment.
God help us all - where is the America I used to know? Thank you for posting this video - it helps to remind me that the pure crap that passes for talent and music today can't hold a candle to these guys. It takes me back to a better time in America.
In L A Times obituary for Eddie Fisher who sadly passed away on Wednesday, which by the way links to this video, there appears the following quote from Andy Williams. "He had the biggest voice I ever heard," singer Andy Williams told The Times on Friday. "I used to do numbers with him and Bobby Darin on my show. He used to blast the hell out of us. His voice was so big, round and full." Listen and enjoy and behold the power of Eddie. I wil miss him very much. And again thanks for this.
What a great routine, that is amazing - I've not heard Eddie Fisher sing before and am surprised at what a good voice he has - we didn;t get the Andy Williams show in the UK in the 60's and I can see we missed out!
I agree. The ones that DO have voices like these gentlemen are not promoted by the record labels. Lets face it, if the labels feel they can't make any money off your talent, you don't have a chance. The only person I know of whos has some success in this style today is Michael Buble. The vocal style of popular music has changed drastically from Andy Williams day.
a tenor's range is between C3, the C one octave below middle C, to the A above middle C (A4) This is the range in which Andy sang all of his repertoire. The lightness you speak of can only be described as "ease", His technique was extremely fluid and soft without "covering notes" that many tenors need in classical music to produce power, thus creating a "lightness". Sinatra,Bing and Bobby Darin were Baritones.I am a classically trained tenor and if I'm incorrect, I want all my money back :)
great voice... this is singing..sadly now alot of song are not following the harmonic Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do...too bad not many ppl nowdays sings like these guys.
It is sad to see the dates on these comments. Three great artistes, long forgotten. Likewise all the great song writers of their time. Forgotten in favour of primitive sounds masqueraded as music.
Amazing! that was a new version DO-RE-MI of Richard Rodgers from the Von Trapp's movie "The Sound Of Music". I love the way that they performed in this videoclip.
@Wiseguyintraining The name of that song is Oklahoma from a Broadway play of the same name. It was written by the same two men who wrote this song. If you would like to hear it, put these words into the youtube search Oklahoma ! Oh What a Beautiful Morning and More. This will take you to a clip from the 1955 movie version. This song comes up at about the 7:12 mark in the video. The other songs are from the same play and the singer's name is Gordon MacRae.
I know they hit the harmony at the end, but I can't tell if it's just Andy hitting the harmony or if Bobby's filling out the chord. Either way, phenomenal finish to a great performance.
Bobby Darin faleceu cedo, sofria do coração.
Eu fiquei na dúvida numa tradução, se puder me ajudar eu agradeço. Aos 0:39 o Bobby parece dizer "you gonna teach us to song", o que pra mim não faz muito sentido. Não seria "you gonna teach us to sing", o que numa tradução seria, "você vai nos ensinar a cantar"? De qualquer forma os 3 brincavam com a voz hoje em dia eu não conheço 1 único artista desse nível com o sucesso próximo deles, aliás, eu não conheço nenhum artista desse nível sequer.
ive 4 sons of ireland ,,and ive l.istened to this 15 years,,ok not every day but holy fuc......if my kids can sing this... they can sing ........most anything...simon cowel...3 years to go m8...stay onboard
Tatane, Nice to hear from France. Unfortunately I can't help with Garner, but should I hear of something I will let you know. Thanks again for the video.
No, I really believe Andy and Eddie were friends. I have seen photos of Andy and his wife with Eddie and his date at different events. Andy and Bobby may have been friends as well, I don't know. I think Eddie had the best voice of the three of them. Andy said after Eddie passed away that Eddie had the biggest voice of them all. Eddie was also on Andy's show many times.
Amazing, amazing, amazing! What would've really busted my balls is if one of them did a Julie Andrews at the end and jumped an octave! That's would have been phenomenal!
Hi ! from France. Sorry for this mistake, I changed it. Thank you for your comment. If yu know how to get video ( even personnal tapes ) about Erroll Garner during the US shows where he was invited let me know. Thanks
@huehuetecti Well said. There is no rational explanantion, just the unfairness and lack of taste in this world. Just be glad that you have good taste and that a place like this exists where peope of good taste have decided to share their collection of musical excellence with others.
Thanks for posting this great video. The guys sound wonderful, especially Eddie. However you misspelled his name, which makes this video hard to find for FISHER fans.
I have never heard Eddie Fisher sing before this clip, but boy does he have a nice voice. They all do. I wish there were more people with actual talent in the music industry these days. It seems like nobody has to have talent anymore because they can just synthesize your voice if you suck. I mean, Hilary Duff, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Akon etc. = some of those people can actually sing, but their voices are so synthesized it's gross.
Tenors don't have the widest vocal range, but the highest. For instance, both tenors and baritones have a range of two octaves in solo work. However, the baritone can sing two notes more than the tenor in choral music.
As Eddie said, he did this song in his night club act, so I am sure he knew the song pretty well. This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. Rest in peace Andy, and thank you for bringing so much joy to the world with your music.
RIP Eddie Fisher! Great voice along side Andy Williams & Bobby Darin.
This is a wonderful piece of television history, sadly lacking today. I enjoyed watching them while growing up and never missed the show, always entertaining to the max. +EDITH SYMMANS Eddie Fisher and Bobby Darin HATED EACH OTHER
I'm always trying to learn stuff about the classic vocalists from the 50's and 60's. Could you tell me what you've read about Eddie Fisher and Bobby Darin indicating they hated each other?
EDITH SYMMANS Just great
three fantastic voices in their own rights, a brilliant performance!
Three brilliant singers. Phenomenal performance. Bobby is more than adorable.
Wow! I never get tired of this! Bobby is the cutest! Amazing!
Do, re,mi chanté de cette façon, sans aucune fausse note, c'est simplement magique!!!!
Simply stunning a great version of the song!! You just don't hear anyone sing like this now adays thanks for sharing it!!
There's more talent in Andy's pocket-square than there is in music nowadays
This is real quality of musical talent with class. Not to mention how these men dressed like men and I follow their styles of dress. Now looking at them, I want to get me a new tuxedo suit tailored, but I can't afford that here in Japan. But I can get it doen cheaper in Thailand for US$100. So innocent. And so very happy and bright performance.Soul touching.
Simply love it. Love Andy forever. Looks like they had a great time. Thanks for the grins!
What a class act with style grace and such gifted voices.
Fantastic film, fantastic song, fantastic Rodgers&Hammerstein, fantastic singers, fantastcic version. I love all of you.
Fisher has an amazing voice!!! i love it..
What a cliche, but they don't make 'em like that anymore. Thanks for the memories, Eddie, Andy and Bobby.
I love how their voices are really high (namely Eddie and Bobby) and then they drop as soon as they start to sing.
This actually drew a wide smile on my face!
Bobby Darin and Andy Williams sound so fast so funny. and Love their outfit's they look like thier going to Church in it like tucks in the best way.
Christmas was always the best when Andy Williams had his family show. He is the ultimate in entertainers.
I love all 3 of them and I feel like Eddie Fisher is under-rated now a days. He had such a beautiful voice.
How are there possibly no comments on this video? Love Andy and Bobby, love the song, and very fun to watch.

It is sad to see the dates on these comments. Three great artistes, long forgotten. Likewise all the great song writers of their time. Forgotten in favour of primitive sounds masqueraded as music.
I love how Eddie Fisher starts too early at 2:14 and Bobby Darin's subtle reaction... look at their eyes :)

Amazing, amazing, amazing!
What would've really busted my balls is if one of them did a Julie Andrews at the end and jumped an octave! That's would have been phenomenal!
Just wondering, would anyone be able to make/find an instrumental track of this version? I'd love to use it with some of my friends.
three professionals--they probably had cue cards and one rehearsal earlier that afternoon.
Hi ! from France. Sorry for this mistake, I changed it. Thank you for your comment. If yu know how to get video ( even personnal tapes ) about Erroll Garner during the US shows where he was invited let me know. Thanks

Does anybody know when this episode aired?
Thanks for posting this great video. The guys sound wonderful, especially Eddie. However you misspelled his name, which makes this video hard to find for FISHER fans.
50 yrs :)
Bobby Hatfield.. most definitely a tenor .
Eddie Fisher had amazing resonance. He could have sung opera.
I have never heard Eddie Fisher sing before this clip, but boy does he have a nice voice. They all do. I wish there were more people with actual talent in the music industry these days. Eddie Fisher can sure sing... don't know much about him as well.
He was married to Debbie Reynolds and they had a daughter name Carrie ( Princess Leia ).
