Here We Go Again! Can We Make it to the Trail Cameras???
Вставка

- One of the reasons we picked this spot to try out this new truck, is that I have trail cameras there that I wanted to go get. Can we get there?
Come along and find out!
I still have more cameras up in these mountains, but they will probably have to wait until Spring!
Good Morning 🌄
Good Morning!!!!
Hello Muskrat! Good morning! Looks fun for sure! Have a great day! Be safe
It was!! Good Morning!
Glad you made it up there and got your cameras! I can't believe that other guy said that! Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas my friend!
Two of them anyway. I've still got two more up there. Yeah, I can't either. I can understand not liking the idea that he might be on camera, but that's the way it is now. About everyone I know uses trail cameras for scouting and just plain fun of seeing animals. He's not from here, and can probably find his way home. Merry Christmas Mark!
I'm in fairly decent shape for an old man, but I nearly had a heart attack watching you tromp through that snow. Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs.
I'm more out of shape than I thought! That stuff is hard to walk through! Merry Christmas to you too!
Good morning brother be safe out there
Good Morning!
Here in British Columbia we have designated registered traplines, these traplines are owned and you can have registered cabins for running your line. These lines have valve, have tax write offs and can be sold or passed on, my trapline has been in my family for over 80 years. The one big reason I like a system like that is that it gives the trapper the ability to manage the furbearing species on their exclusive trapping area. This helps with not only with ensuring healthy viable furbearing populations it doesn't turn into a race to the end where one trapper is in direct competition with another trapper. The one issues that occurs in areas of smaller traplines is with large ranging furbearers like wolves, wolverine and lynx is that these species travel over multiple lines at times. So at times the different trappers can be targeting the same individuals, the biggest issue I find with this is that all trappers do not have the same skill levels and a bad trapper can train species like wolves to become very trap smart making them difficult for anyone to catch. I guess in the end no system is perfect....
I enjoy your content and your logic and I wish we had more trappers like yourself out there, best of luck this year.
Agree 100%. You and I live at opposite ends of the country, me on the East Coast, you on the West. I get the impression from occasional news bytes that BC has been having weather bombs 'n other extreme weather this year. I hope things get better and you great folk can have a Merry Christmas and be blessed and prosperous in the upcoming New Year.
Thank you very much! The registered traplines would be great in some ways, but it kind of blocks the rest from trapping too. Someone like me, couldn't afford to buy a registered trapline, so I wouldn't get to do this. I like the public ground system, but trappers should work together in as much as keeping each other informed. A few years back, I was trapping beaver in a spot and found another trapper's trap. I left a note by it to please call me, and he did. He had caught two, and I had also. I told him that I would pull my traps so we didn't wipe them out, and he thanked me and figured that was enough for that spot also. If we hadn't talked and found out how many were taken, both of us would have probably tried for two more and wiped them out. Water traps, and marten are easy to spot, but coyote, wolf and fox traps aren't. If you don't work together, you aren't able to manage the numbers at all.
@@MuskratOutdoors Yes totally agree, its a about communication and co-operation with the health and welfare of the resource at the core.
Merry Christmas to You and Cindy. 🎄🎅

Merry Christmas, Gary. 🎄🎁☃🎅
Thank you Ron! Merry Christmas!
Looks like the boys and their toys are out for fun. Kinda glad I'm old and got those days behind me. Not saying we didn't do some very questionable endeavors back then, but now I'm grateful we made it thru the crazy stuff.
I know! I hope they don't try to push that thing too far. It was fun, and it's great to be able to go places you normally can't, but bad things happen fast with those things!
Thank you for taking us along. Merry Christmas, my friend.
Thank you too and Merry Christmas!!!!!
Awesome job brother ! I agree with you on the non resident of the state feels like he has more rights than you ! It's hard to be humble at times , but like you said , what he messes with your equipment , game is on bud ! Love the mud trucks in the snow too ! Thanks for sharing !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤️

Man o man. Your tuff brother deep snow there’s nothing there. You’re almost like you’re in the badlands with snow. I believe your legs will be a little sore the next day or so doing things that you don’t normally do using muscles, but you will recover because you’re tough. 🤠🙏🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️🍁🥰✌️🎄
Thanks! I'm pretty out of shape! That was a lot of work trying to walk in though!
Sounds like your buddy has attitude issues. Oh well have fun and enjoy the great outdoors Idaho has to offer. Merry Christmas Muskrat and Cindy. 🎅
Yup.....too bad. Merry Christmas to you too!
Mornin brother nice ride👍👍
Good morning, thanks!
I don't like people crowding in on me. Just yesterday a couple of guys had their rabbit hounds in on my trapline. I told them that I had traps out in the area & they were pretty good about it. They got their hounds & went to a different area. I told them of a good spot for rabbits & they went on their merry way. I think you need to get that snowmobile going & take your snowshoes. Good gear good results. No snow here. Stay safe.
You guys are having a blast. Merry Christmas to you and Cindy
Reminds me of my days in the Search and Rescue in Wyoming. Some of those guys liked to go out and see just how stuck they could get! Maybe a metal detector might be handy to find traps, your own and others, after the snow comes. Maybe not worth the weight when you have to wade through deep snow, though. Anyway, sounds like the wolves are gone and that guy is really doing nothing but wasting his time. Just enjoy yourself and let God deal with him. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Muskrat!
Metal detector = great idea 💡
I agree! 99% of the time, I'm doing things like this alone. It was nice to have someone else along as a "life boat". Yeah, I don't think the wolves are still in that area. There's nothing for them to eat. I bet they are lower if there are any left here. No, what that guy does is up to him. I'll just keep on doing my own thing and try not to worry about it. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas!
Good morning Gary. You needed your snow shoes. Hope the other guy plays nice...Hope you and Cindy enjoy your Christmas. 🇺🇲🌲🔥🔪
I sure did! That was a lot of work! Me too. I do this mostly for enjoyment and I don't want to fight with anyone. Merry Christmas!
Rock crawlers in the snow? Get some wheel speed n move on. Lol . But seriously keep your eye on the dog with the spraying anti-freeze in the snow...that's a baaaad deal. They love the taste too. Merry Christmas everyone.
Yeah, we were watching that. Dogs get poisoned pretty easy from that stuff. Those tires are big, but chained up, I bet they would be pretty much unstoppable. I sure does chew up the road though.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching it!
Man What a Christmas present. brings back wonderful memories. Those big tires suck in snow and believe me I know.( tall skinny tires are the ticket) You are right, it is a lot of work trapping yet alone making videos, PS our traplines are registered up here that loser would be charged. Merry Christmas my friend
I like tall, thin tires too. A lot of folks here get these wide ones and let most of the air out of them. That way they flatten out and work kind of like snowshoes. It's supposed to work really well, but I've never really been around it. The only thing I don't like about the registered trapline idea is that is stops a lot of people from being able to trap. That's both good and bad, but I wouldn't want anyone that wants to try this not be able to experience what it's like.
Good morning MO 'n all. Well, no harm to say you got a work-out on your run to the hills. I know it's been exciting enough just watching, LOL. Amazing the ground you guys managed to cover with those vehicles against the odds. You never disappoint as each morning I get my coffee in while visiting and tagging along on your latest undertaking. I still enjoy every minute of each visit, no matter the topic or subject - you're one of the best hosts I've been subscribed to over the years and, not to make a mountain of a mole hill, but you're a far better man than I am, the way you consider and make as much allowance as possible for the stupidity and indecent greed and ethics of those other trappers and hunters you occasionally have to tolerate; we have much to learn from your world-view and the model for a decent member of the community. And you demonstrate that with just about every video you create, both you and Miss Cindy. Merry Christmas Eve to both of you and to every person viewing and commenting - a wonderful, decent community with mostly well-meaning and - I'll say it again - "salt o' the Earth" people. Thank you and may you continue to be blessed.
Thank you very much! Very nice for you to say! I was taught growing up to just worry about the thing you do and leave the other guy alone. Grandma pounded the Golden Rule into our heads and I'm glad she did, but every now and then, someone comes along that takes advantage of that. I've talked with other people that have had problems with this fella too. Just the way it go's, but it's hard to deal with.
One things for sure, anytime you're only taking modified vehicles and/ or jeeps, you get really good at off-road recoveries. Lol.
Awesome video 🤟
Good morning ! Wishing you and Cindy a Happy Holiday !
Good Morning and thank you! Merry Christmas!
This is cool. You’ll got the wrong kind of tires for snow. You need more of a cross tread, mud tires aren’t great in snow.Merry Christmas to you all🍻
Good morning 🌞 Muskrat, those rock crawlers are amazing machines. I agree with Jeff about the Willy’s pickup though, it would be a really cool looking crawler. I knew fellas down by the coast in Oregon who took old trucks cut the bodies down and put them on a one ton 4x4 running gear with 22 inch semi wheels with mud and snow tires and used them bear hunting. Those rigs were scary and fun at the same time 😂Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and Cindy and the rest of your family 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖I’m thinking that the guy who is from out of state trapping should find his way back home and trap there. I’m not a big fan of people from out of state coming in and taking game that the locals should have first shot at
Maybe. I don't know much about these really. Merry Christmas!
I agree with both! It will look really neat, and it's in pieces now, so making it usable is a good thing. The out of state part, I agree too, but on the other hand, I can understand wanting to have an adventure also. The part that bothers me most is the unwillingness to try to get along.

Good for you handling this fellow the way you are. He is coming across as a bully trying to push you out. If he is watching your videos, all I got to say is man up and find new territory, there's plenty out there. Have a nice Christmas eve Gary, Cindy and everyone.
Doesn't look to me like he's checking his traps like he should be. Because the snow mobile tracks arent fresh
My traps would have been pulled by now. If you’re not listening to your gut, you might as well just go to Las Vegas.
It snowed some. I see him go by the house every other day or so, so he has been checking them. He's a hard worker, I gotta give him that.
I'm close to doing that really. I think I'll try hunting for them a little more.

I agree with everything you said adout that s.o.b.
Good Morning! HA! Thank you! We did kind of tear up the road getting those cameras. It wrecked his snowmobile trail, and even though I'm not a big fan of his, I do feel kind of bad about that. I wouldn't mess up someone on purpose that way.
Thanks!

@@riverflyswatter What was my conclusion?
Stop by the ol' Apothecary on yer way to the barn, pick up some salve. I been usin' Voltarin, but recent went with some of the Salonpas stick on pads with lidocaine. Get Miss Cindy to help ya out. Them pads is handy cuz ya can cut 'em up, and put em where ya need em. The salve is smelly, and has a lot of alcohol, but works well. I use the pads on my gamey shoulders, and finally get ta sleep all night.
Them trucks look like fun! I like the looks of that little Ranger! Been lookin fer a Willys myself to transplant onto a good 83 K5 Blazer with a severely rotted tub. Pipe dreams fer me, I'm afraid!
Take er easy, Merry Christmas!
Why not just stop by the liquor store and pick up a bottle of tequila?
@@Oldminerdon Well, certainly one way to go! Used to be the way I went, only my preferred was a pint o' Wild Turkey and a six pack of Bud fer a chaser ever night. Cost me a marriage, a couple o' houses, cars, kids in trouble, bankruptcy. Never got arrested, which is strange, cuz I sure gave 'em every opportunity! Just passed 31 years sober. Think I'll stick with OTC creams and stuff, but you do what ya want!
Thanks! I knew a guy in Washington State that put a Willy's Wagon on a Ford Bronco, or maybe a Blazer? He had cut the roof off and had a custom made canvas convertible top made. It was a really neat truck, and got away from all the weak Willys parts. Those trucks were great, but they were the first 4wd's. As time went by, they got a lot better and tougher. They used to be common, but not now....the prices have shot up too. Years ago, I'd see them in the junkyard a lot.....I wish I had known, I would have bought them all!
HA! Or Whiskey!
That can happen!
I'll have to watch this later. I just wanted to say merry Christmas to you and your family and friends.

You said exactly what I was thinking. That guy is a jerk and for sure, he would regret touching any of my gear I tell you! I hope he never touch your gear.! He has a bad attitude! Merry Christmas Gary and Miss Cindy. Have a Blessed Day! Justin
Public hunting areas? I am about to quit hunting unless I can find some private land that will allow me to hunt. At least deer hunting anyway. May keep me out of jail! lol If it don't belong to me, I don't touch it! Glad you got the cameras out! Have a good one!
Yeah, people are kind of ruining the enjoyment of it. Hunting and trapping on public ground with other people is ok as long as everyone tries to get along. Most people are respectful of each other, but every now and then, you get someone that's not. It sure takes the fun out of it. Between this, low fur prices, lack of animals and the snow, it hasn't been really a lot of fun this season. I really should give it up for this year, but I hate to do that.
@@MuskratOutdoors Yes, I have met a lot of good people over the years. Most with good ethics. Things change. Merry Christmas to you and Cindy and family! Hope you all have a good year coming up!

HA! Thank you very much. It's a pain to deal with, but just the way it is I guess. Merry Christmas!!
HA! Yup! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Seems there's always someone to ruin things. I'm ashamed that trapper is from back east. We're not all like that. We do tend to hunt and trap closer together because of being much more populated. Still there's ethics. Looked like a good place to pee at 15.40.
A really good video Gary. It was fun.
In fairness, these trucks ruined his snowmobile trail too. If I had known, I could have waited unto Spring to get those cameras back. We were already on the way to get them though. 15:40? HA! I'll have to look! Oh! I think I know where!!! HAHAHA!
Well you and Cindy have a very merry Christmas. @MuskratOutdoors
Go to the game warden there's a guy out there I think Holland who had a video on something of that sort
So far he hasn't done anything, but I took it as a threat. No need for that kind of stuff.
Merry Christmas. Put some weight in those trucks
I bet he's using your videos to horn in on you it's not good when he sets traps right where you got cameras at.
He does watch them now and then. I'm careful about what I've shown. This spot, I don't think he knew, but it's sure frustrating. Other trappers are more willing to talk and find out where the other guys are at to avoid stuff like this. We have a good bunch here and it's almost like a "Trapping family". There's not any of them I don't like or get along with. One friend has traps here too. He has hound dogs, so I let him know where mine are so he doesn't get his dogs caught, and he lets me know where his our too. We compare notes and get along fine. We don't crowd each other and when we find tracks, we tell each other....it's the way it should be, and it's fun.
Not to smart to threaten the locals. They might look for retribution. Trapping on top of someone else isn’t cool. Especially when you get a chance to meet. Sounds like he’s got no hunting or trapping ethics. I hope you catch them first. love those trucks. I’m a Toyota guy myself. They are fantastic. Merry Christmas friend and enjoy the day👍👍
I agree. There's a lot of public land here that doesn't have someone trapping it. Just the way it is I guess.....
One of my best trucks was a Toyota. They do have things figured out on them. Merry Christmas!
Can you imagine? Out of the literal millions of acres wolves cover in the US, he's gonna set traps right on top of yours, Wish him bad luck. He deserves it.
Muskrat sir I’m been watching your videos for a long time. I don’t comment a lot. I just enjoyed to watch. I’m a trapper from Alaska. And we don’t put up with that BS here at all. It’s big country. Find your own spot. And if you’re the gentleman that said that and you’re reading the comments, you should be ashamed to be a trapper or an outdoorsman! Everybody has a right to the outdoors but you have no right to be an ass !! Muskrat I watch all your videos, including your off-season ones don’t let him slow you down. Thanks again for videos
I'd say, do what you gotta do to drive him off that mountain first. He's already harvested 3 of your wolves buddy. Escort him back where he came from.
Lemhi County war! Part deux. Lol. Muskrat vs the outta stater. My money's on Mr.Muskrat.
You said it best, he's a jerk to at least. To take someone else's property is at least a criminal offense. Be careful when you set your cameras and videoing just in case he's watching the videos and learn where you are.
I have been. That's why I didn't show the few wolves I had on my cameras. Sure takes the fun out of this....
@MuskratOutdoors I figured that you had, just saying it as he's probably watching these videos.
Good luck Gary!
Good Morning Muskrat, Oh Gees ,its so sad that we have people who act like that guy, but it goes back to survival of the fittest. And him in the wrong, a outsider and aggressive to you. Im not sure, but should you report this to the authorities ? Im not found of that, but... What happens now is on him, he alread knows your camera is there. Deeded trap lines is a very good idea I think, does this exist in the USA ? Thanks and Merry Christmas. 😊
The difference between a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive can you get stuck twice as bad with a 4-wheel drive
HA! VERY TRUE!
That guy sounds like a jerk. I'm from Iowa I would never crowd in to another guys ground. Good luck on your trapping.
Over all, he's Ok to talk with, but not at all concerned with anyone else around him. What he said about those cameras was basically a threat, and that doesn't sit well with me at all. Without my saying anything first, I've had several people tell me they don't like him.
If u r a true sportsman u respect the other person's rights and property the way I was raised
Exactly.
Trappers/hunters have been argueing about encroachment since the beginning of time. I can't say much because I have felt the same way about places I trapped for years. The only thing worse where I have trapped is when a great spot turns in to a housing developement or strip mall and nobody can trap it....lol
Very true! We just need to adapt I guess. Nothing lasts forever....
Merry Christmas!
I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt but that guy came from another state and threatened to sabotage your cameras in an area he knows you’re trapping in. Maybe if he doesn’t get anything, he will go away! Unfortunately, that’s the way much of the world is these days; every man for himself. Very sad human being! I wish you and Cindy a very Merry Christmas!
Same here. I keep hoping he will find a new place, but I think this is the 4th year he has come. Talking with him, he's friendly enough most of the time, but sure doesn't have any respect for anyone around him.
Why do you say that guy ain't a bad guy even after he talks to you that way 🤔?!?
That trapper from out east😠😠😠 l don't like him either.
On another note. When you was treddin through that deep snow to your camera before you said it. I was like my legs would be cramping sooo bad.
Drink pickle juice & eat a couple handfuls of green olives if you get cramps. Works for me.
Between 4:53 & 4:57 looked like something ran across road on right side of frame🤔
At 4:53 what was that crossing road??
Green olives? I haven't tried that, but I will! Not too long ago, I got a bad cramp and managed to hobble to the refrigerator looking for pickle juice. I had an empty jar of pickles, just the juice for that.....gone! Cindy cleaned the fridge.....all I could find was some pickled jalapenos! I was desperate, and in pain, so I drank that! Bad idea! Now my leg was locked up in a cramp, my mouth was on fire, and I had heart burn! On top of it all, I thought I was going to throw up and not be able to get out of the kitchen! Ha! It worked out OK, but it wasn't good! I'll have to look. I didn't see anything run. Thanks for pointing it out.
@@jimmyhoffa7935 I think maybe part of a branch? It's hard to tell, but I don't think it was anything?

That's some bs with that other guy, he needs to go back to where he came from!!!! Just my opinion. Iv been in that same situation. I would never set next to someone else.
You need your dog less sled.
I'll probably end up using it before long. That snow is really getting hard to get around in.
Ok, with his attitude, he really needs to go, nothing good will come from it. In these situations, nobody wins. I wouldn't have anything to do with or have anything to say to him. Again, nobody wins. I would put more traps out. Keep the pressure on him, he'll leave.
Edit: I hope you didn't tell him about your yt channel.
I think I'm stuck with him really. Oh, he knows about it and watches now and then. If he sees this, he will be mad, but hopefully he will think a little about what he's doing too.

Good morning! Why would someone threaten your equipment with no reason? He is the reason that " my handshake is my bond" no longer exists. Positively unethical, and downright unfriendly to say it lightly. That comment by him makes me mad and I'm 1000 miles away. You can't fix stupid.
Amen to that! Merry Christmas.
Well it depends on how you go about fixing stupid ☠️
Good Morning! That made me mad too. I can understand not liking the idea of having cameras in the woods, but it's a tool that is very useful as well as fun. About everyone I know has them. Even some that don't hunt or trap, but like to see what animals are in the woods. It's a whole different thing if they are set up to spy on people. Mine are sometimes set along the roads to see how many people are in the area, but never to spy on someone. Animals use roads as trails at night, especially wolves.
HA! Very True!
