Good morning Gary, They use a lot of those machines up here. There called faller/bunchers. Some limb the trees too. When they cut or pinch it off at the bottom. They keep hold of the tree, parallel with the boom, and then a grapple type clamp that is around the tree travels up and down the boom on a chain system and shaves all the branches off. Gary, the strangest thing happened a couple days ago. Sherry and I were at Walmart and while checking out, your younger brother passed by. He was leaving the store so I never had a chance for a picture or even any conversation. He could have passed for a younger twin, down to the beard and hat. I would have loved to have met and talked to him. I have heard it said, we all have a twin in this world. Have a Merry Christmas, my friend. PB
Good morning Gary. Those harvesters can make short work of a stand of timber when operating 24/7. There is good and bad with this approach to management. It cuts down on forest fire risk, provides raw material & creates a few jobs in the short term. On the other side of the equation, it opens up areas for exploitation & destroys pristine habitat. It is what it is. Have a good day.
Good Morning! I agree. I'm not against logging, but I wish they had done it before it burned. If they had clear cut in stripes to make fire breaks before the fire, it might not have burned as much as it did. Taking out more trees on top of what burned, is kind of hard to watch though. Have a great day too!

If you're going to get into calling them you really need a high end electronic call. eBay has my favorite right now. A hell fire listed for 325.00. That's about the cheapest route. When they had price on wolves head I did go up and called quit a few. Most came to white tail fawn. The fox would be fun to they really like the bird sounds. Shotgun and them pay fuel to hunt the wolves
Probably so. I prefer the mouth calls, but the electronic ones do have more of a range of sounds. I've called a lot of coyotes, but never a wolf. I think the hardest part is finding them so they can hear it. I know guys that have called them mostly by accident, with elk calls, turkey calls, dying rabbit calls for coyotes, sounds for other animals. On purpose, a wolf howl, or even barking like a dog seems to work. I haven't had any luck at all trying it though.
@MuskratOutdoors with the fawn you will also have a chance at lions but have had several bears show up. The 2 years I came up there got almost 50. Howl locate them get fairly close then a main prey sound. Most do yes get by chance or luck. I have 30 years of experience to put odds in favor. Arizona pays me to keep one of their best deer units as close to coyote free as possible. But that's only because I took the time to study the animal. Started getting Mexican grey wolfs by chance then figured out why. They are protected so can't shoot so went up to where I could. Mostly just to see if I had them pretty closely figured out. I will take 300 coyotes with a shotgun a year
