      The Shin Killer Bed, with the Toe Smasher chairs, next comes the Elbow Slicing Dining Table (with a nice hardwood surface so Alec can get his woodworking practice in like he wanted)

    Hey Alec, Long Time Subscriber. Here's an idea for a Rocking Chair if you ever want to forge one... Super Comfy (even more than the one in the video). You take a Car Coil Spring, Cut it so that you have 1 1/2 winding of the spring x 2. Forge a Chair Base, put aside. Forge a Seat, put aside. Use 2 of the coil windings - one on the left, one of the right side of the chair, put them vertifcal between the seat and base of the chair (so that if you look at the chair from the side you see an O) and weld it to the seat and the base. End result is as you rock forward and back the 2 x coil sections compresses and releases. I have a set of 8 of these, the best rocking chairs ever.

    At work we have a “Rage Wall” that we chuck our ruined work at. We’ve upgraded it by putting steel plates up with kevlar cloth on the floor to stop burning. It’s always fun to hear an expletive than huge bang

    Certified Thrower of Things here. Gotta say this turned out far better than I expected. It may be the most impractical chair ever built, but it looks pretty dang good. I think my favorite feature is the through tenon joinery. Something about that puts it over the top for me. Thanks for sharing!

    i love the chair ^^ just a tiny little thing .. you should have included a felt patch below the legs to not scratch the floor and allow it to be moved a bit more easy

    you coulda just... made a pair of leafsprings to serve as the back support, have them integrated into the back legs to make a parentheses shape. This way you get your flex, without getting a stress point anywhere.
    Nice chair though, i really like it.

    Amazing effort. The bare felt feels like a missed opportunity for Alec to go back to his leather working days and throw a nice hide over the top. But there was obviously time restraints.

    An idea just occured to me for Alec. What if Alec had a rotating partner like Dr Who? First it was Will, then it would be someone else for a year. At the end of a year that partner moves onto other things and Alec's new companion joins the team. Would be interesting to see all the new skills/projects each partner brings to the shop.

    Very cool chair! If you want it to flex leave the rear bolts out. They aren't needed to keep the chair together, just the front bolts. Or, you could bolt the rear with a single bolt in the middle. That way you don't concentrate the stress at the back and maintain the strength.

    There are brass Chicago screws for leather. They can be used on very thin material.

    If you want shorter bolts screw on a nut to the right length, clamp it in the vise, cut it to length with a cutoff wheel, and the when you unscrew the nut it cleans up the threads. Works great.

    run a canvas back strap across the backrest to halt motion and prevent stress on the seat mounting points. As an upholsterer that is what I would do.

    You should wrap the felt and steel in the same material your new pants are made of. But keep the fasteners on top cause they do look cool showing.

    Good call on using bolts to hold the felt, i would assume the magnets would have allowed the felt to slide around while sitting/leaning in the chair :)
