- The Ultima Blade! How to get it as early as possible, making you OVERPOWERED for the rest of the story! All you have to do is follow the steps and claim your weapon! Tips on how to get the rusted bit, glass gemstone and Sturdy helixhorn easily also! This also works for the Royal Edition and Windows Edition!

For anyone that was having problems with Cid upgrading the weapon, Patch 1.05 should have fixed any bugs. Give it another try if you haven't already.

inchekwa 0509 You can repeat the same hunt over and over til you get it. Or you can save outside the hunt yellow area and then just reload if you don't get what you want.

thanks for this tutorial. got mine just now 😁. but if you dont mind me asking, why repeat the hunt 3 times unlike in the 2nd mod to do the hunt once? and you always instruct to do the lvl 2 hunts, can i do other hunts in the area?
inchekwa 0509 I guess because the sword is more powerful it takes longer to upgrade. 3 times is the magic number! You can do any hunt you like. I just chose the level 2 hunt because it was really quick and easy to do. Good luck.

rusted bit can be found if u leave cids garage and head to the left there will be a flat cliff with a pile of rocks to climb, the rusted bit will be on the pile of rocks.

You can get a rusted bit in hammerhead. Go to cid and to the right there's a pile of rocks and at the top there is a rusted bit
There is actually a glass gemstone earlier where you meet Monica at the hunters camp there is a tower you can climb and at the top is a glass gemstone
It was another rusted bit for me
thx bro, took a little while but I finally got it. One tip for newcomers here; dont go to the dungeon for the rusted bit, instead go to the town with the beach where you meet Dino, at the end of the pier is a rusted bit.

If your trying to stash XP then just equip the nixexperiernce badge, it stops your XP from calculating when you sleep

Lol got the horn on my 2nd try.
Little extra tip: when killing those hounds for the level to hunt, use a 99 potency Blizzard against them. It will carpet bomb them, and they all die on the spot.

If anyone is having troubles with getting the sturdy helixhorn, I believe that the sword of the wise gives you a 100% chance to get the horn as long as you break the horn

I'm not sure if anyone still needs some help but if you're having trouble with the old lestallum quest then there's another hunt from the first garage when you enter chapter 3. The one by the slough. If you use the mother and child rice bowl maybe with key of prosperity if you have it then do that hunt and warp strike at the horns. It's a rare drop but I managed it on my first or worst case second try with the key of prosperity only on several playthroughs. It's still a little random but I always found it easier since I'm usually very low level. You may need to do a few hunts to unlock the spira hunt but it's worth a go if you struggle

Debased coins is a tricky one. As far as i know the most efficient way to farm them is to save before you loot the blue sparkles that are random in the world. Then keep reloading your game til you get a coin, then move to the next one. Personally I really don't like this method as the loading screen just infuriates me. All the coins I had were from just playing the story.

LemonEatingKow with the key of prosperity and mother and child rice bowl I got it first time. with the 50 percent rate on rice bowl and whatever key of prosperity is I'll have to look when I'm on the game again that could be a great way to get hard drops.

Thank you for this. I was beginning to think that the cid quest lines weren't worth it. Aside from the engine blade, I have a bunch of other upgradeable weapons too. I'm looking forward to finishing them all now! Two problems,, the whole waiting to complete each one, one-by-one and finding out where to find the "rare" mats for the final upgrades.. I'll probably get these out the way once I'm done xp farming. Thank you again!

The best tip i can give you for fishing..... Turn off the volume or change the language setting. Your 'buddies' will verbally assult you the entire time ;)
After several failed attempts at getting the horn for the Ultima Blade, I switched to Prompto and used his rocket launcher and ended up getting 2 horns from that single fight!
If youre having troubles getting the helixhorn break, gladio's downhammer skill is easy to get and hits the horn excellently to break it.

The royal edition of the game includes the Nixperience Band, which is an accessory that prevents XP from being accumulated. It makes it possible to stay at level one for the entire game. It's been a really fun playthrough so far! Food becomes a lot more important, and you can't just breeze through combat anymore. @@Aibohphobia-AAAA
i just got into the game, and i feel pretty weak but i didn’t want to do any XP glitches/exploits and this was perfect
the FF14 crossover quest is also great. even better weapons that are easy to get and you get a lot of different weapon types in case you want to branch out to daggers

In a way I got Ultima Blade even earlier than the method you show here when I was playing level 1 challenge as I didn't go past Duscae before I got it. The point in the story is still the same so not much difference.
Rusted bit - Got it around the Hammerhead area on the ground.
Glass Gemstone - Gladio picked one from the ground as I was exploring Duscae.
Sturdy Helixhorn - You can get a Spiracorn hunt for the Alstor Slough area from the gas station you stop at when you enter the Open World chapter. The Spiracorns there dropped me two of Sturdy Helixhorns when I was just casually playing the game (got really surprised).
For Sturdy Helixhorn hunting I found that parrying is really effective. Instead of just going for the horn like crazy you just walk around holding square to be able to parry as soon as attack comes. Spiracorns (and Duplicorns and Leucorns) like to charge at you so often that you don't even need to wait for long. When they charge at you they come horn first so the parry hits the horn. Wearing a high break chance weapon like Axe of the Conqueror or preferably Mace of the Fierce pretty much guarantees a break and then it's just up to luck whether you get the Sturdy or Crooked horns. Also, a good thing about parrying with Royal Arms is that they have all the destructive power without the HP backlash.
For luck increases you can eat the food you mentioned here (if you want to go to the Lestallum) and you can also wear Key of Prosperity from the Holiday Pack DLC. I was only wearing the Key of Prosperity on Prompto when I got the Sturdies from the Spiracorns.
Loving these guides. The missus is out for the day and she's being watching me play and loves it so far. But she said I can't progress the story any further til she gets back. Well... I've farmed Cactuar and got tons of exp, got myself the Auto Crossbow and now I've almost got this weapon and I've still not progressed the story any further lol :)

Very well put together video man. I didnt upgrade the blade quite that fast(had an issue with the helixhorn), but even at just a level 3 blade the thing is still one of the best weapons in the game. Actually, a level 3 engina blade is what i beat the game with haha, then i got the freaking helixhorn in one try haha.
Same thing for me! The first play through I didn't know where to find the horn. I just figured it would be something I would come across. The Ultima Blade is def an end game weapon. Feels kind of.... naughty... to have it this early >:-)

The easiest rusted bit is actually at the prairie outpost on the tower you climb up the ladder to get it also the other easiest bit is over in galdin quay on the dock at the very end on the big pole.
In reality there is one to the right of cid.

you can find a rusted bit really close to Cid. If you're facing him just turn to the right and run past the shop and it's in the dirt area by a rock or canister I forgot the exact location.

there is an Item called a nixperience band.if it is equipped then you can camp or stay at hotels and your exp points wont be tallied preventing you from leveling up
trust me it works.i saved all point from the start of the game to the free stay at goldin quay and wwent from Lv1-Lv 25 so ...yeah

PRO TIP: NEVER EVER drive at night to finish this quest as early as possible!!!!!!
When i was driving for the first time to the first dungeon location, a lvl 30 Monster spawned at night on the road. I almost crapped myself, wasted all my 10 small healthpotions, and actually killed the monster.
I thought: "Well, this game wont give me that much resistance until i get there anymore" (1km) - After 100m a level 42 spawned. He had a big ass fire sword. I am level 8 !!!! - I just turned and was like "NOPENOPENOPENOPE". Back to the trailer, go get some sleep of this crazy night. I will never aggain drive at night until i get this sword.

This is my 22nd FF game in a row and the last of my FF full series binge with the platinum trophies for each before playing FF14. After 22 games I don’t mind being a little OP for the last game.
I just got the Sturdy Helixhorn first try. I’m back and I just got that plus 400 strength food from the diner beforehand.
I ended up selling the weapon without knowing you could upgrade it.

Ragnarok plus Gaze of the Vortex are essentialy 2 of the most powerful weapons in the game. honestly at this stage even if you can get ultima blade pretty early Ragnarok will still do more damage with warp strikes compared to it ,

Yeah this is pretty easy... It's kind of like getting 3 of the 6 ultimate weapons on disc 2 of FF8. It is doable fairly easily

Oh another faster location for rusted bit is go right from Cid towards the red fuel looking truck than when you are infront of that trunk look right, you will see rocks go towards the rocks the rusted bit is there blue glowing item.

When recording I realised I had a big silent gap there. So I brainstormed for hours to come up with that masterpiece! ;)
I switched out to prompto and used the machine gun skill to break off the horns. Got 3 first try. I was lv 50ish tho. Not sure if that matters.

This may have already been said but there is a rusted bit just outside of Hammerhead. While facing Cid turn right and run to the rocks just outside of town.
Havnt played any of the finaly fantasy series since 9, but this version was by far the easiest.

But the Ragnarok that came with Steam version is too OP that my play style is only warp striking anything. Rare Coin + food buff abuse to get level 99 early and then voila, 9999 damage with a pre order weapon. Nothing beats Ragnarok warp strike damage.

Got it early myself . But even by chapter 3 I was at level 67 and some missions it would take so long to kill the enemies even though I’m 20+ levels ahead I found that weird

@@SilentAndy I spent 177 hours on one playthrough of the game. I haven't played any of the DLC for the supporting characters or Arden yet. I didn't do the level grinding to get to 120 until after I had access to the hotel that gives you X 3 XP, but I was still in the same ballpark of around 60 or so by chapters 3/4.
And I agree with the original poster that being OP in this game isn't really as noticeable as it is in other FF games; even at level 120. You'll find that while it's hard to lose your own health and have to use a healing item to revive yourself, you also still won't obliterate most enemies (you still only dwindle their HP down).
how are u at level 67??? this is so frustrating. I'm a first timer currently at the beginning of chapter 3 at level 13
You can get a rusted bit a tad earlier. In the area where the hunters are, there is a tower on the far side of that rest spot. Climb the ladder and there is a sparkle spot at the top with a rusted bit. No need to go into a dungeon or story progress.
That spira horn battle showcases how awful the camera can be in this game. 90% of the battle is those fucking trees getting in the way, and unlike any normal game which would cull the object so you can see through it, here? NAHHHHH you want to see our tree textures up close right?

LemonEatingKow If you get daemon destroyer from the combat ascension skill tree, it allows for easier targeting/cutting of appandages. id been doing the mission for quite a while without succes, i got the skill and got the sturdy helixhorn next try

Supposedly you just need to sleep and the dog will appear and decide to go the the past or future but the dog never came so I have started from CH5 and on. Did I did something wrong or what?
