So, I've got a few things to add to this video, what with all the updates up until now. 1st: VORTEX WEAPONS These weapons have been patched into the game via the event quest "Adventurer from another world". It isn't limited by time and the weapons you can get consist of a sword (Gaze of the Vortex), a greatsword (Pain of the Vortex), Daggers (Plumes of the Vortex) and a gun (Abandon of the Vortex). These weapons are, hands-down, among the best of the best. All of them have end-game worthy stats AND have a 100% crit rate, which puts them on top of every other weapon in terms of raw damage (with the exeption of maybe Zwill blades with 100% crit food). Additionally, every one of them, except the gun, deals bonus aerial damage. Pair Gaze of the Vortex with the Airdancing ascension skill and you've basically beaten the game. The other 3 weapons will look very nice on your boy-band members, too. Alright, while all that sounds too good to be true, they are not that easily obtained. While you unlock the quest as early as chapter 5, its level requirement is set to 45, and even at this level the boss can be tough to put down. You'll also need a buttload of event-exclusive items called "Allagan Tomestones". The boss only drops a single one of them each time you fight it and before end-game you actually need 50 of those suckers to make a single Vortex weapon. BUT you can find up to 90 of them within the level before the boss (3 batches of 30 each). They are very well hidden, though, so I highly suggest watching a guide on that. Important to note is that you can repeat the boss fight, BUT NOT the level leading up to it. If you've missed those 90 Tomestones, they're gone for good unless you load a safe file before your first clear. Once you have those it's a short grind to get 2 of those weapons. 2nd: FOOD With the Vortex weapons strapped, crit food becomes unnessecary. Instead, for post-game, I suggest either King's Stew (+400 atk, +2000 HP | unlocked by buying Hunter's Ragout meal at the Meldacio Hunter HQ restaurant) or Smoked Behemoth (+400 atk, +1000 HP, +infinite sprint | unlocked by buying Smoked Dualhorn Steak meal at the Verinas Mart in Ravatogh), depending on the situation. I think the ingredients can all be bought in Lestalum. End-game I always love me some Longwythe's Peak (+600 atk, +4000 HP, +200% HP-regen). Watch a guide if you wanna know how to unlock it. It is end-game food, though. So spoiler warning. 3rd: ARMIGER Last and shortest point on my list, I swear. xD JUST before the Armiger bar runs out, initiate a warp-strike. The animation will prolong the Armiger status. Then, just before the warp-strike animation is over, mash RT and LT to cheese in a last second Armiger chain after that, too. Depending on your progress in the game you can one-shot some bosses 100 to 0 with this. Alright! That was everything I could add in terms of general tips and tricks. If you've made it this far, thanks for reading the whole thing! :D
@@imcyan- Oof... To be completely honest, I didn't play the game for much longer after this post, meaning it's been about 9-10 months since I last played it. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten a lot about it at this point, but I can non the less try to answer some of your questions. Shoot.
The type C layout recommendation alone is worth the watch but so much more. Thank you for doing this, it is fantastic and my wife and I have gone back to this multiple times to refresh! Great job!
I played this when it came out, hit the end, and then kept playing for the additional content. Now I picked it up for Windows and am playing it on the PC, so checked out this vid for hints. Nice job! I never bothered with air-stepping before, but now I'm gonna work up to the air dancing. And yeah, that thing with insta-death in the Regalia shocked me. I triggered it in a location I shouldn't have and it was shocking to hear everyone screaming as they died. I never tried it again.
I farm ap outside hammer head with the monster whistle. make sure there is at least 2 warp points in the battle. The monster whistle not only summon monsters but also a magiteck engine warp kill them all and you can easily farm 15 plus ap per fight, but beware, after a few engines spawn the 3rd or fourth of so, the engine will drop a lvl 99 magiteack suit on you instead of troops. if you see that suit you have to retreat immediately especially if your not strong enough to fight it.
2023 and just starting this game. Been playing FF since X, all of them except 14, and always a few years behind. The combat on this one really had me scratching my head, but this is a very nice video. Thanks for this. Well done.
This is a fantastic video, and to get the most out of it you need to watch it many times over while you get into the game. Seriously, I have watched a whole pile of 'guides' for this game and this one is the only one that mattered in the slightest. Thanks, dude!
I watched this video after beating the game and thought "there aren't 18 different tricks" After watching it, I needed almost all of them! Great video.
I've watched dozens of tutorials and have clocked about 90 hrs. But this tips and tricks video was amazing. Thank you. Fantastic pointers. I'm a ten times better player than I was now than an hour ago!
If you'd like to see me do an actual Let's Play of Final Fantasy XV, respond to this comment and let me know! Include in the comment if you'd rather an full LP with side quests 'n junk, or just important story stuff.
Have you been to that hidden dungeon you can find after you kill the adamatine hunt? I would like to see a walk through on that plus most will never see it or do it without assistance...
Yeah, I did it. And I hated every minute of it, though I think I'm in the minority on that. Platforming in a game not made for platforming is always bad. =( But the dungeon LOOKs cool, anyway.
I'm replaying this with all the DLCs added. It's been 3 years, my 1st and only play through got to lvl 100. But I was just winging it. I was not used to that type of game play. I'm getting the hang of the combat now cause I'm not flailing about, but this definitely helps and is applicable even years later, thanks man 😁
the trick with shield of the just works....u stand in the wilds by hammerhead and use enemy whistle, then IMEDIATELY warp strike them....the shield does an AOE hit and can kill all 3 or 4 enemies in one attack, you have to have the shield equipped tho....doesnt seem like much but i can usually get 333 AP in about 2 in game days
This is helping me. I haven't tested it yet, but I understand more now. So far I've just been slogging through the game's combat by holding attack, waiting to die, using potions, and repeating. I can never time dodging well enough and it gives me a big oof, my dude.
Spaghetti Top gravity well does not scale with magic, so it does less damage. also, it lasts less time. and the ability also does more damage and last even longer on critical. also, if you want to use another machine for whaterver reason, you can still use gravity. You can say you dont need piercer from Promp because there are weapons that also debuff defense. the thing is that prompts debuff is much more stronger on critical than any weapon that does the same debuff.
One trick I'd add is one to level up fast early in the game (as early as chapter 2). Take a break from the main quest and pill up side-quests without sleeping. Side quests are usually super easy and give you more xp than in battles. Then go to the beach place and spend 10,000 gils for a night in the fancy hotel which doubles your xp (earn the money with hunts). My biggest gig was pilling up 60,000xp, which got doubled. At chapter 5 I was already level 44. Other than that thanks so much man for the awesome tips. There is no way I was going to find out on my own about healcast and so many other advice you gave. Great video, please do one like that too for FFVII remake when it comes out!!
Thanks this helps. I just started and my battles have been a button-mashing don't-know-what's-happening affair. It's nice to see the defensive / strategic aspect (footsies) fleshed out as a rewarding aspect of the game.
The sudden realisation...when your 39hours in and didn't realise you had all the ultima weapon items ready for cid. Glad didn't have to go horn hunting 😂
I believe it's time for me to start taking Final Fantasy XV seriously, I've been playing very little as of late (Been stuck on Destiny) But that's about to change. Thanks for the video, it's a HUGE help. Subscribed!
I got a Glass Gemstone before I ever set foot in Lestallum. Focus on Gladio's survival skill, and he will eventually find one. Got mine when doing the Deadeye side quest before I went to Lestallum.
you can get a ton of AP by going to Hammerhead and running behind the shops into the field once you have the beast whistle, and get to an area with a rock or shack to warp point to use the whistle to call enemies warp strike them and warp to the Warp point to keep your magic up repeat.
Also for all of the ultima weapon quests all you have to do during the wait period, is do 1 single hunt mission for hammerhead complete that and sleep in the RV and cid will call when you wake up.
there's a rusted bit sometimes on the rock next to the garage so you can do it right when you start Cid's quests and there is glass gemstone in the first area just pick up all items which most people do anyways
Glad I could help, man. I recently streamed a return to Final Fantasy XV, and all of this still works. I was worried they'd changed a bunch of junk and made the guide obsolete.
Wanna know how to survive longer in battles? Use the Magitek gear. It makes you invunerable to any attacks from any enemy. Cons: you have to wait about 20 hours for it to fully charge to be used again if you destroy it.
Thanks bro. I never knew where the last part for the ultima weapon was and im to stubborn to look it up lol. I didnt think you would cover it in this video but thank you none the less 👍
Thanks bruva. As far as the horns are concerned, I farmed them for a while with the save method and didnt get one. After turning in the hunt and re-accepting it, the horns dropped. If you've already picked up the glass gemstone and sold it earlier in the game dont fret, it respawns.
I know it's been awhile. But I'm just starting to play after watching my lady for the last month. Great tips on combat that I was struggling with, and I consider myself a veteran gamer (SNES Super Mario Brothers) Most important I believe is your #1
Just picked up this title I can't believe it took me so long!! To check this out it's Wicked!! And I'm having a Blast I like the hunts and usually don't care for all the side quest activity's but this game has a way of presenting it as a realxing form I'm barely on Chapter 2 but always looking for Tips an Tricks! Where are all of your other FFXV vids dude??? This video was great & was really looking forward to your 100+ hour experience but I looked through your playlists & couldn't find anything? So sad...
I waited so long for this game to come out, I just wanted to play through it and enjoy it. lol... Trust me, I thought about recording and whatnot, but it would have made it take much longer for me to play through it. I AM planning on doing an LP, but I haven't figured out how to go about it just yet: Do I record only story stuff, or the whole thing, y'know?
TheRestlessCorpse Oh okay I understand that. Well I'd love to watch that, grinding & all! I think the story is too short to just go straight through & have it be interesting. But at the same time I'm used to & enjoy just watching people talk & play for hours. Dunno why I enjoy it but I do. You have excellent information on here & it truly did help me out & I'd truly like to see something else from ya with this game here. Hope to see something soon! Peace
Nice vid RestlessCorpse. I have watched plenty of vids and this has been original and helpful for advanced tips. I am changing my layout tomorrow, and heading my ascension towards airdance. Cheers.
+Simon Murphy Glad to hear it helped. Keep in mind many enemy types will swat you right out of the air, but Airdance is a great skill to have nonetheless.
I love this game, it is massive! It doesn't deserve the hate it got at the beginning, people were specting an assassins creed or something like that but it is more like a mmo
So about the glass gemstone, you can obtain the glass gemstone as early as chapter one if you get the survival ability to a high enough level. As you should also grind for a cactus needle at this point in the game if your aiming to be overpowered early you should obtain at least one during the course of the grind.
After several failed attempts at getting the horn for the Ultima Blade, I switched to Prompto and used his rocket launcher and ended up getting 2 horns from that single fight!
Thank you for the awesome video! I have also put in over 100 hours in this game (~123 right now), but there are some useful stuff in this video that I somehow never realized (makes me wonder how I managed to get this far in the first place)! I have completed everything except the Costlemark Tower menace, which I'll now go give it a second shot and hopefully rule it with your tips. I regret not knowing about the Ultima Blade early on lol, I got it after Balmung, which is way too late haha.
Healcasts are king in Costlemark 99. Don't even worry about making a bunch in preparation, just craft them on the fly. The only thing that should give you problems are the Coeurl rooms, and possibly the 4xRed Giant room, but if you play carefully in the Red Giant room, and you play aggressively with the Coeurls or eat element nullifying food, those won't be a problem.
Thanks for all this! I just started playing yesterday and I think I'm up to Chapter 3 (I'm about to go into the waterfall; I actually did but died the first time lol) so hopefully this is gonna help along the way :)
Thanks for the video. This is one of thr only tip videos that was actually useful. I'm still very early into the game but a lot of your advice is already applicable. Should definitely do more FFXV content if you are up to it.
I thought about doing an LP, but it would take ages. I wanted to just play through the game at my own pace. I may do a level 1 run or something for the channel.
TheRestlessCorpse It been a couple days now and using most of your tips was definitely an improvement with my combat. Thanks again, really enjoying the game now. I made sure to share your video to my friends and I also subscribed to channel . I'll probably check out more of your videos later ,once I finish the game. 🙂
My pleasure! I am completely new to the Final Fantasy franchise, and I was already enjoying the game. Your tips, however, completely revolutionized my fighting, taking my enjoyment to a whole new level. From switching to layout C (I was constantly pressing the wrong button after playing Fallout 4 for the last year) to using Gravisphere and other team attacks, I now feel in control during the battles, rather than just jumping around and dying...a lot.
Great video! Very helpful and in depth. This was the video i was looking for. If i seen one more video with the best tip being the stamina bar i was gonna flip! hahaha
+Justin Edwards Haha, yeah. Everyone knows that at this point. I wanted to make a video that helps people with the harder aspects of the game. A lot of people have this mindset that the combat is shallow and simple, and they run into endgame and have a hard time.
Sweet. I think I'm gonna go try and get that Ultima Sword. I'm steadily getting my ass handed to me in this game. It seems like I can only fire off a few attacks before I need to use a Hi-Potion on myself, or my constantly In-Danger sidekicks. That Holding Dodge Button trick also seems useful. Especially when you get a certain ring (No Spoilers).
Clear, concise, direct, simple, helpful. Best tips video I've seen in a while. Now that I finally have a little bit of time to dive deep into this game, you have helped me avoid time wasting. Thank you.
So, I've got a few things to add to this video, what with all the updates up until now.
1st: VORTEX WEAPONS
These weapons have been patched into the game via the event quest "Adventurer from another world". 2nd: FOOD
With the Vortex weapons strapped, crit food becomes unnessecary. End-game I always love me some Longwythe's Peak (+600 atk, +4000 HP, +200% HP-regen). Watch a guide if you wanna know how to unlock it. It is end-game food, though. So spoiler warning.

I have seen a lot of videos about FFXV, but this one is the best
Thank you =D
Thank you...i know its been a while...but three tips really helped me...Overwhelm + Bow of the Clever; Holy Dodge w Ring, and Ruby Light on easy mode.
Hey just picked this game up not too long ago. This video has helped me a lot in clearing up some things that were a bit fuzzy. Thanks again!
Just got FFXV this week. I'm level 10 at the moment and I just got to the beach area where i learned how to fish.
The game already easy, but you make the game looks super easy.
Wanna know how to survive longer in battles? Use the Magitek gear.
It makes you invunerable to any attacks from any enemy. Cons: you have to wait about 20 hours for it to fully charge to be used again if you destroy it.
Now when I see the gravisphear I will deffinetly use it with gladios cyclone!
Thanks bro. I never knew where the last part for the ultima weapon was and im to stubborn to look it up lol. I didnt think you would cover it in this video but thank you none the less 👍
There is a rusted bit spawn by the rocks near hammerhead
I got the loot for the ultima blade at the first try without the food X'D _I was so happy at the end
Peace
+Sundiata Williamson Well thank you. =D Is awesome to hear that this is helping people.
2 yrs later and still no let's play
After several failed attempts at getting the horn for the Ultima Blade, I switched to Prompto and used his rocket launcher and ended up getting 2 horns from that single fight!
shifting controls to type c is a game changer.. thanks tho all these years✋😁
this is the best guide video on ffxv on youtube that Isaw so far - and I 've seen a lot ;-)
Thank you! I would also like to watch a lp of yours.
Idunno why, but your name plus your profile picture had me cracking up.
I think I know why ;-)
I just started playing yesterday and I think I'm up to Chapter 3 (I'm about to go into the waterfall; I actually did but died the first time lol) so hopefully this is gonna help along the way :)
i actually got the sturdy helixhorm from a regular spiracorn
The most useful information about FFXV packed into one single video I´ve seen to date! Thank you sir! Subbed.
Dude, u sound like one of the tv adverts on Rick and Morty! Its amazing!!!! Also thanks for the tips
One of the best videos I've found so far, great job dude!
Thanks for the tips. I will try type C. I hope my fighting gets better. Also Great video.
Thank you. =D
TheRestlessCorpse It been a couple days now and using most of your tips was definitely an improvement with my combat. Thanks again, really enjoying the game now. I made sure to share your video to my friends and I also subscribed to channel . I'll probably check out more of your videos later ,once I finish the game. 🙂
Your video was incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to put it together!
No problem, man. And thanks for the compliments. I hope this helps you out. =D
My pleasure! I am completely new to the Final Fantasy franchise, and I was already enjoying the game. Your tips, however, completely revolutionized my fighting, taking my enjoyment to a whole new level. From switching to layout C (I was constantly pressing the wrong button after playing Fallout 4 for the last year) to using Gravisphere and other team attacks, I now feel in control during the battles, rather than just jumping around and dying...a lot.
thanks bud!
well paced, and i am kept visually engaged. super helpful. try to include level ranges for certain weapons and AP upgrades.
Thank you so much man. I appreciate that you made this. I have been looling for combat help
There’s an earlier spiracorn hunt at lvl 15 south of lestallum not sure exactly where but obviously it lets you get the horn earlier
I fucking love Airdance.
No problem. Have fun. =D
These are exactly the kind of tips ive been looking for. good stuff!
Awsome advice mate, more complete than the others i have seen.
+Frank Rial Thanks, man. =D
This is the best tutorial. Thank you !! Very helpful
Dude, thanks for this video. I just started playing and this will help a tonne!
Now this is the best guides and tips thanks man it helped me a lot!!!
Kind of late but the Glass Gemstone can also be found after killing the behemoth monster down by Hammer Head in the huge crater.
Clear, concise, direct, simple, helpful. Best tips video I've seen in a while. Now that I finally have a little bit of time to dive deep into this game, you have helped me avoid time wasting. Thank you.
thanks for the great tips 15 and 16 were most helpful
one time i got the sturdy helix horn 3 times in a row without noticing, noticing that that was what i needed not that i didnt notice the drop
Awesome video, pretty much everything i needed help with all in one video. Thanks
