- An overdue follow up to our review of the Taurus TX22 Competition SCR. Update on the feed issue, our long term impressions, and some footage from this thing in action at a Steel Challenge match!
Went to the range with my new TX22 Comp SCR, and the guy and gal in the next stall were super interested, and asked what is that thing? (They saw my targets and were impressed). I showed the weapon to them and offered to let them shoot it. The guy was so impressed that he took pics of it and of the name of it (I labeled the case as I carry other firearms in my wheeled carry bag.) After his partner shot it she said, Wow, how come we don't have one of those? LOL! Needless to say, I am super happy with my Comp SCR, and I have been shooting Aguila ammo and have had absolutely no issues so far after approx 300 rounds. I must say that I downloaded this Long-Tall-Texan speedloader from Thingiverse, and it is awesome. Much better than the one that comes with the firearm, and makes reloading a snap! Thanks!
That guy running the timer sounds exceptionally nice.
He’s only nice when he wants something!!! Lol! Thanks for watching!!!
I don't have a comp on mine, I have a swampfox red dot and I have had hardly any jams (maybe 8 or 9) with many different types of 22 in about 3500 rds. Great gun👍💯
I've been running the Standard TX-22 for over a year. The Competition Upper went on sale for like $130.00 and I had to snatch it. Now I can swap between iron sights and red-dot with ease. Very economical for range time.
That steel match looks fun. I really want to get into competition shooting.
Do it! It’s so much fun!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Had the same issue with the comp getting heavily lead fouled and cleaning it can be a PITA. I did the 50/50 vinegar hydrogen peroxide mix and let it soak for a couple of days (be careful with that however - the resulting fluid is lead acetate, which is highly toxic and has to be disposed of properly) Once it's clean, spray the inside thoroughly with a dry lubricant and do that at every cleaning and the lead will be much easier to remove. Also using copper plated ammo vs. lead nose will greatly reduce the amount of build up that will happen.
Strange that people have ammo issues - mine eats everything except Remington Golden bullet & the blue box Federal even when I still had the original upper before switching to the Competition model.
I read and heard how reliable the TX22 is, so I bought the TX22 Competition 4 weeks ago. I got it and fell in love with the feel of the gun (as opposed to the smaller grip on my Victory, but more expensive). I got it to the range last weekend and have never been so disappointed in a gun's out-of-the-box performance in my life, especially that of a .22lr. It misfired or hung up or ftf every 1st to 3rd shot. Knowing and expecting the worst from a new .22, I brought 6 different ammo types, and my friend had 2 other types in his bag, all to no avail. My friend suggested to take off the stock comp which did improve reliability, but still gets a consistent 2-5 failures per every single mag load..no matter the ammo type. I put a Cyelee Wolf0 rd on it, which weighs 1.4oz...and maybe that could be part of the problem. I just hate spending hundreds of dollars having to play the Goldilocks game. It would be cool to use the stock Tandemkross comp that it came with (which is the same one I put on my Victory a few years ago with NO problem or reliability issues), but I guess it won't work. Can anyone share comp and Red Dot recommendations? I woul appreciate it...I really like this gun and would hate having to get rid of it, especially to some buyer that I'd feel guilty selling such an unreliable pistol to. I certainly don't want to GIVE it away...it was too expensive with everything involved. Thank you...
You sure you loaded the mags right? My friend was able to run pretty much anything out of his right out the box, including Aguila Super Snipers, and those aren't even designed for semi auto platforms.
@@InvidiousIgnoramus Thank you for replying! Yes, that was the first and most obvious thing I checked for. when I was at the range. I was hoping that it was ONLY that simple. When I first wrote this comment to you, I had just gotten back from the range and hadn't didn't realize that there were a lot more serious problems with the gun than just unreliability when I went to try to disassemble the gun for cleaning. I ended up having to send the TX22 back to Taurus. They had it a little over a month, but took care of the many issues that this "lemon" was plagued with. I'm happier, yes, as long as I only shoot Federal Auto Match 22 LR 40 Grain. I've tried everything else short of mini mags (which Taurus used when fixing my gun) with absolute disappointing success... but damn near flawless with these two types of ammo. The bright side is that I only need to remember a short list of ammo brands. Thanks, again!
Did you disassemble and clean/lightly lube the magazines? This is known problem with the tx22 coming out of the box. My tx22 shot flawlessly after cleaning the mags.
@@ytjrl Thanks for asking, but, yes, I did that, and still have to, regularly. I ended up having to send the gun back to Taurus. When I got it back a month later, we found that this gun will only shoot one type of ammo somewhat reliably...and it's not mini mags (in fact, it hates mini mags). It will only shoot Federal AutoMatch 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain. I've tried every .22 ammo known in these United States, but it is a one trick Pony, shooting only one brand of ammo. It's the strangest thing I've come across in 48 years of owning various .22 rifles and handguns.
@@toneseeker4968 The problem is in the magazines. I cant remember where I replied and told how to fix the magazines but its on one of the other channels there they talk about problems feeding. They are easy fixes but lengthy for me to describe and Im not good at videos. My gun shoots any kind of ammo you put in it. I have even mixed them up at random and ran them fast or slow and never had a jam.
5:20 “I’m picky 🤷🏼♂️” … picks nose 😂 classic
Mine loves the CCI mini Mags. Thanks for the great videos
The TAURUS TX 22 is the best 22lr polymer fullsize gun in the market todate so accurate and reliable.
I don't have the competition but I really love my tx22.. it is so much fun to shoot
Super fun for sure! Thank you so much for watching!!!
I heard you can get the TX competition scr in a package for 2 and you can attach it to your original tx22 standard model.
Just order the JH model just hoping it shows up cuz the place has terrible customer service. I want to get a nice trigger put in and I'll be happy. I do like the handles people put on the slide looks cool. I want to eventually get a suppressor or muzzle device
I have that same issue with buying new guns. The Mrs keeps taking my guns. But ironically gets mad everytime i buy one.
Just watched your 2nd video. I plan on purchasing the same gun. Tell me which Red Dot you have on yours.
Hello, can the optic plate be removed from the barrel to have a different look? I like open sites. Will be better for me with the plate removed.
Tandemkross trigger big Improvement
Can you drop a link or at least tell the viewers what head camera they you’re using.
That's funny, mine will run on anything BUT Mini Mags! Have both versions. Is that optic a Bul MS-2?
Mine only likes ...Stinger!!! Go figure.
Also anyone interested in a shield plus performance center ported barrel with the red dot? Looking to connect with a buyer works out better for both involved, has about 400 rounds on it. I have other parts to buy
What was the bad ammo that caused the issues?
Hello what holster are you running for competition
Ever change trigger items?
Which dot are you using?
Is the comp removable so you can put a supressor on??
Yes, absolutely.
I’m gonna be ordering this soon
Any signs of cracking on the front of the slide?
The 'slide' cracking issue has been mostly attributed to the standard TX 22, not the competition model... at least not yet. 🙂 The competition slide is significantly more built up at the front due to the longer barrel length.
The trigger is okay, kinda gritty and stiff though.
I've noticed the grittiness also and found it's happening from where the trigger bar interfaces with the disconnector. When I had it apart to put it the TK trigger spring & trigger, I polished the top of the trigger bar where they touch and it took most of that away. I didn't remove the disconnector, but I think if I did and polished that surface also, it would have eliminated it completely. Not a deal breaker, but if you're picky like me & like to work on getting things dialed it is a nice improvement.
@@kchez5586 Very interesting. I'll have to check that out. Smoothing the trigger out a bit would be very nice indeed. Thanks!
oh-no, you gonna have to change the name of your channel, "WalterLoverTaurus"

I bought this 22 and it been back to Taurus twice as we speak this gun is junk as far as I’m concerned! Beware!!! Buy at your own risk!!! 08 /25/2023
With all those issues you mentioned that doesn’t sound 99 pleased
what brand additional texture grip do you use?
I put a "GRIPITS" rubber grip on mine. Its a exceptional grip.
