Great to hear that. It’s a policy I have on the channel, if crew want to appear on the video then that’s great and they’d always be welcome but as standard I try to avoid as have never understood why others channels feature them so heavily!

Great review! I will be flying on Qatar this winter for the first time on the A350-900 and 787-8, and I love the last row in an economy class section, as I can recline freely without worrying about passengers behind me as you mentioned (thanks for showing the recline).. I have pre-booked those seats on both my flights, I hope to have a great experience with Qatar!
What an excellent review. You focused on the flight itself and making fair criticism without the unnecessary tour of the toilet and making clickbait titles or thumbnails. I like the choice of background music. I'm glad you had a pleasant flight. I wish I can travel more on QR.
Hi enjoyed your review. My son and I are flying Qatar from Adelaide australia via Doha in a 777-300ER, then Doha to London Gatwick on 787-8 . Leaving Christmas night. Would you think flights would be full or inbetween? Also I have picked the last two seats like you have , in first section of Economy. You said being close to the toilets wasnt bothersome during your flight. Do doors bang or any noise? On the flight from doha to LGW, I chose seats in the first row seats 10, in first section of economy, what is your thoughts on those seats or would it be better to choose last row in section against bulkhead again? any advice much appreciated.
Sounds like a great trip. So hard to say around Christmas, it’s a really busy travel period but, flying Christmas and New Year’s Day can sometimes be a little quieter but I’d assume the flights will be pretty busy! Toilet wise, people queue typically around the emergency exit well behind so didn’t find it an issue. Yes, the coming and going on a night flight into the bathroom might be noticeable but tricky to say from a night perspective. Those row 10 seats are pretty good on the 787-8. The keg room and being up front is nice. I’m not a huge fan of the entertainment screens coming from the armrest though as it creates a slightly awkward angle. As seats go in that cabin however, they’re a good choice. Thanks and enjoy!
What to say... We all are aware of the Cahill drama where he got banned, the crew fired over a wet floor (water) in the lavatory and they did not enforce the no filming hard enough. This review however, more mature, no hooligan vibes... Just how it is in economy class. Well done! No clickbait Also the no faces policy, really appreciated.

Sounds like a fab trip. The planes with the 2 seat config is just the A380 which do operate frequently on the Heathrow - Doha route but few others (their fleet is quite small). You might then get lucky with a single row with 2 seats etc on a 777. Lounges wise, there’s a good amount of lounges in Doha and I’m pretty sure some are paid access. Would assume they’ve portioned some select seats up front in the cabin as priority seats but not aware of them doing anything similar to Finnair for example who have additional legroom economy seats on mass. Could just be an emergency exit row for example…
That’s for sure a tricky one! To play it safe, I’d recommend bringing a USB cable for the back of seat charging. I’ve never had any issues with the standard apple plug also but one to perhaps put to the airline unless anyone else can weigh in below…

Thanks! Yeah, the toilet one is tricky, I think that with the queue area behind the bulkhead also it turned out ok but could completely get why others would prefer to sit further afield!
@@Travelsbydreamer l always book a seat at bulkhead with no one behind me , hate ppl kicking my seat from behind. I also learnt no to sit at the windows but prefer isle seat for convenience of getting up.
Really tricky question! Truth is, they’re both great carriers. I did a comparison video a few months back on the channel - well worth a look for my in-depth thoughts
I always fly Eva air from Heathrow to Bkk direct but this dec I’m going to try emirates or Qatar for the first time , can’t decide which one to try first
I’ve heard really good things about Eva but sadly, have never had the chance to fly them. In terms of EK vs Qatar, I’ve done a comparison video on my channel which you might find useful. Safe trip :)
Yeah it’s good, legroom is on par with as good as you’ll typically get these days. Just off another flight with them today aboard their A380, felt great 👍
Look, QR is now on the up again after they have dealt with a particular somebody. Jokes aside, with 1000s of flight a year you will have some that are not perfect. Mostly other passengers are the reason for issues on flights... Less the crew. 😉 You get a seat, some food/drink, you arrive savely in one piece, your luggage arrives with you.... Job done!
@@theaccountant666 haha for me, they’re slightly of their best at the moment, but still an incredibly good carrier. Changing hands at the wheel, I have high hopes for their future…
@@theaccountant666 Okay, but at tripadvisor you´re able to read much mor critical reviews, then 2 years before... ...I think, you´ve to see a realistic view, it´s the easiest way to say, okay, we´ve no problem...
I'm flying with QR since 20 Years. Over the years I have always experienced same bottlenecks but not as serious as elected by yourself. And, I experienced issues rather on ground in respect of Lounges and Check-In in particular. I dislike as well the often choosing parking position of Aircraft "in the Dessert" instead docking on to a Gate Flight. Certainly, things had changed after Covid. But this applies to almost all Airlines. Recent price increasing are a major issue, again applying to all Airlines. Increasing transfer time for tickets with lower fare are an issue too.
Yeah, the remote stations can be a nuisance. I’m hoping the additional terminal developments at Doha create enough gates that they don’t need to do this going forward. Airline pricing is a little crazy post Covid but I’ve found, there’s still deals to be had. Current global economic outlook may cheapen them somewhat next year…let’s see. Safe travels in the meantime ✈️
This may have been an issue with using a new editor around that time. Try one of the newer ones. Haven’t had quite such issues with this one listening back though 😅 Apologies for any shocks ha
May I kindly suggest if you are doing a vlog on economy travel that you don’t include the lounge & instead wander round the airport as an ordinary passenger who isn’t a frequent traveller or hasn’t got access to lounges. We’d like to see what shops & food maybe on offer as that’s what we’d be looking for.
I’ve found that Qatar economy on the long haul - the food is good, staff are professional but there are not enough staff for economy and the toilets are not re-cleaned frequently enough. I would not fly economy with them, I found Singapore to be better and toilet cleaning frequency in economy.
Really good to get your take. I think on the number of staff and toilet front, this is something they’d be really disappointed to hear as know they try to maintain really high standards there. Singapore are a phenomenal outfit and always love flying with them also. As to whether I’d put them above…it’s a really tricky one!
@@Travelsbydreamer I think food wise - Qatar wins hands down, Singapore has 2 staff per trolly in economy, pedal bins in the toilet, and definitely more frequent cleaning. Qatar doesn’t even have pedal bins in Business Class, never mind economy. A pity because generally they offer a very good service, but toilet cleanliness has to be a big priority! - for me it definitely is.
Yeah, I’ve heard from viewers in my Singapore vids that they’ve cut back a bit on the food offering in recent times which is a shame. I’m with you on the bathroom hygiene, it is super important, especially in the premium cabins. Rather enjoyed my window in the Qatar business bathroom last week, an experience I’ll be sharing soon!
Flown a few different airlines from UK to Australia. They’re not the worst ( I once flew Aeroflot!!😮) but definitely not the best, which I’ll reserve for Emirates. Cabin crew were very slow, one 1 leg it took 2 1/2 hrs to serve dinner and quite a few times didn’t answer the call buzzer. Food was so so, kids certainly didn’t appreciate the curried egg sandwiches. Entertainment system was sluggish and choice of films sparse. No current blockbusters. Would I use again? Maybe, if I was pushed for money, but I’d be tempted to wait until I could afford Emirates. Or Singapore.
Goodness that’s a real shock to hear, sorry to hear about what sounds like a really average experience. I must’ve flown them 30-40 times and always been at least on par with EK, crew always far superior in my experience. Singapore a superb carrier always! Happy travels ✈️
@@Travelsbydreamer as I said, not a horrendous experience but not top class either. Some things can be outside the remit of airlines, like sudden staff shortage maybe due to crew being over their flying limits or delays. But entertainment systems and food choices are. It was actually our first time flying long haul since Covid ( last time we landed 7pm on 23/3/20, by 8.30 we were locked down 😂) so I don’t know how airlines transited out of it. But we had a good holiday.
As mentioned in the video, access to the lounge was granted with status. Joining the frequent flyer programmes is free of charge. Business and First don’t feature in this video.
They really need to refurnish their seats and entertainment screen. They look outdated from their A350s as it provides a more premium experience in economy than the 777. Cabins are way fresh in A350s.
You’re right it wasn’t. Hard pressed to find many airlines in this day and age which don’t. I think Kuwait airways has been the only airline I’ve featured on the channel which do the 3-3-3, such a shame…
@@rotty66seatguru is very rarely updated, and those 3-3-3 configured economy cabins on the 777 have all been retrofitted into the 3-4-3 configuration. For up-to-date and more accurate seat maps, I would recommend using aerolopa over seatguru
Thank you! Appreciate the suggestion, the voiceover on its own can come across a little dull but all down to the mixing, sometimes the music can come across a little overbearing :)
The 777 cabin is crap compared to A350. QR's A350 seats are better and the cabin atmosphere and humidity are far superior in A350 as well. Can arrive much less tired than on 777 flights.
Newer experience for sure, product wise not much in it though having flown on one earlier in the day. Good points made on cabin pressure etc, I love the 350 due to quietness, 777 is very noisy…
@@haroldlipschitz9301 Yeah it’s interesting isn’t it, for sure less dense on the eye…perhaps? I’ve tbh always found that the 350 would’ve been better as 2-4-2, the 9 across has always felt really squeezed but then again, that’s modern day economy sadly…
The 3-4-3 is pretty horrible compared to their pre-pandemic 3-3-3. The aisles are now very narrow and the whole cabin feels squeezed. It has even been described on Skytrax as 'a crime against humanity.' I like Qatar enormously but this squeeze, which added just 23 economy seats, is off-putting. It's even caused me to just book with a different airline.
The 10 across element on the 777 is pretty rough indeed but is now common place across the industry. They’ve been going 3-4-3 since at least 2018 when I first started flying regularly with them. A shame but it’s still not too bad…
Qatar Airways economy seats are far less comfortable than Emirates, they seem narrower and they have an annoying box restricting where you put your feet. On flights from/to Dublin you spend an eternity on a crowded bus getting to/from the terminal. The only reason that I choose Qatar over Emirates is because of Departure/arrival times, Emirates beats Qatar hands down otherwise
EK for sure a really strong player on the economy front. The bussing at Doha can get incredibly tedious also, really feel you there. For service, quality of more premium cabins and strength of loyalty club however I generally side with Qatar…
@Travelsbydreamer With silver status on Emirates you can select your economy seats at no extra cost, with silver membership on Qatar they want to gouge you with extortionate seat selection costs
@@noklekpui that’s one benefit for sure however, the EK network is limited to largely EK metal whereas Qatar benefit from the one world alliance which brings massively enhanced opportunities to both enjoy and earn status. Having lived in Dubai for some time, the maths on the EK scheme didn’t add up with huge amounts of flights required to get to the upper tiers of status and only really one airline to enjoy those benefits on. That’s where the differentiator comes in for me, it’s simply a lack of strategic direction towards a larger club which hampers emirates for me. That said, to each their own and if that scheme is working out better for you then that’s the only thing that matters in my mind
Bad, they broke our suitcase and on the return flight a horrible breakfast. Next time ruefully back to a chinese Airline, they do the same for half the price.
QR is no longer competitive in any class. Old planes, disgruntled staff, living on the laurels of the past. They need a total makeover or they will become irrelevant. Sad, as they used yo be my favorite. Now I avoid them for sure. This review is not the experience of other reviewers recently. Your mileage may vary….
Hmm sorry can’t get onboard with this (no pun intended!). They have an average fleet age of 8.5 years according to good sources vs up to 15 years for the likes of Qantas. Cabin age is key and would agree there’s probably some updates required in time on the 777’s but they’re still in very good order. Are they a little off their best just now, I think most likely. Are they still one of the strongest carriers in the world - in my opinion for sure. I travel on them more than most. Aware there’s been some negative reviews out there recently but they just don’t reflect the reality I’ve seen. More to follow this year - let’s see how they do in 2024. Safe travels in the meantime ✈️
Glad that you have had better experiences. Others have definitely not. Hard product is very inconsistent. Look at the old 330’s. Crews are tired. The arrogant CEO was fired suddenly. Harassment of female passengers in Doha has been reported. The airline is not at its peak for sure. Safe travels!
Qatar is not a world class airlines I juste made 4 flights with them and it’s underwhelming. The staff is incompetent in buisness and I am not talking about economy who was even worse On 3 of my flights, the cabin was not properly secured for landing. Safety should be there n1 concern. They have a good hard product but the rest is dog ….
Maybe, but this what happened. Talking about the airline, the only flight who was managed well was Doha-Zurich one of my flights. Qatar was on top between 2011 and 2019, really appreciated the crew, etc… since there it’s a downfall. My appreciation come from my recent flights Zurich - Doha - Windhoek. Last year I made Zurich - Doha - Victoria Seychelles, it was better but still not on top. Other airlines have a much better soft product (ANA, ETHIAD, etc…) and those are not claiming to be the best in world. Let’s talk about, Hamada. Great lounge, top notch ! Shops, great ! Cleanses, Ok. But I don’t get the overall rating of the airport.
@@qw4958 I think the comments around ANA sound very familiar and something I’ve heard a lot recently - would love to try them! Was back with Qatar today and another great experience. Let’s see how they get on post Q suite 2.0. Hamad always a pleasure to travel through, lounges completely unrivalled in my experience with the exception of the Cathay first class lounges at HGK.
@@Travelsbydreamer looks like that it depends on the root that you fly with Qatar. This counts for everyone making flight reports, you should fly very and less busy roots of a airline to see really the true of them. Spend 3 weeks in Namibia to try my root ;) You will have a great experience in this country On Hamada i didn’t appreciate always to bus drive more or less 20 min to get in and out of the plane.
@@Enlightenment246 a wise move for sure. The aisle seats can be really convenient for that. I have to say though, I’ve always loved the window!
Which is better Qatar or Emirates?
Really tricky question! Truth is, they’re both great carriers. I did a comparison video a few months back on the channel - well worth a look for my in-depth thoughts
I always fly Eva air from Heathrow to Bkk direct but this dec I’m going to try emirates or Qatar for the first time , can’t decide which one to try first
I’ve heard really good things about Eva but sadly, have never had the chance to fly them.
In terms of EK vs Qatar, I’ve done a comparison video on my channel which you might find useful. Safe trip :)
Was the seating comfortable? I’m planning 11 hours flight and I’m considering Qatar Airline, do you recommend it? (Economy class)
Yeah it’s good, legroom is on par with as good as you’ll typically get these days. Just off another flight with them today aboard their A380, felt great 👍
No it isn't. I flew it in March and the new 3-4-3 is pretty horrible. A real squeeze compared to the pre-pandemic 3-3-3
@@RH-xf4vfI guess it depends if your a big or small person. I would imagine anyone big or overweight would NOT be comfortable in those seats
I really like listening to your voice it’s soothing
Haha, thanks so much 😅
I dont get it, in another video said Qatar is declining
Varying experiences, this one a little older 👍
Look, QR is now on the up again after they have dealt with a particular somebody.
Jokes aside, with 1000s of flight a year you will have some that are not perfect. Mostly other passengers are the reason for issues on flights... Less the crew. 😉
You get a seat, some food/drink, you arrive savely in one piece, your luggage arrives with you.... Job done!
@@theaccountant666 haha for me, they’re slightly of their best at the moment, but still an incredibly good carrier. Changing hands at the wheel, I have high hopes for their future…
Is this here really the economy standard by Qatar Airways?
What is with Josh Cashill...
In my experience, yes.
JC is in for fast Clicks and engement, no matter the fallout for others.
Not QR problem any longer. Thanks QR!
You need to level your sound volume - every once in a while it shoots up to speaker splitting highs! Then drops low. Basic video editing requirement!
This may have been an issue with using a new editor around that time. Try one of the newer ones. Haven’t had quite such issues with this one listening back though 😅
Apologies for any shocks ha
May I kindly suggest if you are doing a vlog on economy travel that you don’t include the lounge & instead wander round the airport as an ordinary passenger who isn’t a frequent traveller or hasn’t got access to lounges. We’d like to see what shops & food maybe on offer as that’s what we’d be looking for.
It’s a fair point you raise, I’m now doing this more and more in my latest reviews 👍
very fair and profesional review
Thank you!
How come you enjoyed business lounge on Qatar airport by flying in economy class ??
Status with the One World Alliance :)
all 777s have twin seats, others at the back others at the front, which are the best if you get them....but the Qatar seat are like the c130 army seats
Rears on the 777 can work really nicely indeed. Hahah I think that’s economy in general, gets far worse than Qatar for space.
what was your seat number
Can’t recall just now but last row of the first economy section, K seat
@@Fluffyslippers128 those were some extreme times for sure! 😅
My experience with Qatar isn't much better than budget airlines.
Here’s an idea, if you’re seeking views DON’T flog lounges and business/first class that 98% of flyers don’t use/can’t afford 💰🙄
As mentioned in the video, access to the lounge was granted with status. Joining the frequent flyer programmes is free of charge. Business and First don’t feature in this video.
Thanks
You’re welcome ✈️
They really need to refurnish their seats and entertainment screen. They look outdated from their A350s as it provides a more premium experience in economy than the 777. Cabins are way fresh in A350s.
Yeah, they’re starting to look their age just now I must say. For sure not looking too bad but certainly a little old gen compared to the 350 :)
I would say I experience the best flights Toulouse to Doha then Doha to Manila ! Totally great !
Always a pleasure with them I must say :)
777 was never designed for 3-4-3 and I avoid any that use that config
You’re right it wasn’t. Hard pressed to find many airlines in this day and age which don’t. I think Kuwait airways has been the only airline I’ve featured on the channel which do the 3-3-3, such a shame…
@@Travelsbydreamer Seat Guru says Qatar have both 3-3-3 and 3-4-3, not sure if it's correct
@@rotty66 Could be however, I’ve never seen it on the 777, always 787 and 350 of course but they’re narrower so no real benefit…
@@rotty66seatguru is very rarely updated, and those 3-3-3 configured economy cabins on the 777 have all been retrofitted into the 3-4-3 configuration.
For up-to-date and more accurate seat maps, I would recommend using aerolopa over seatguru
I wil be flying to london with qatar in july 11 2025 to Heathrow
Have a fab trip!
Nice video, but I respectfully request that you do not play music while speaking.
Thank you! Appreciate the suggestion, the voiceover on its own can come across a little dull but all down to the mixing, sometimes the music can come across a little overbearing :)
Comfortable seat 🤔
About as comfortable as economy gets 😅
@@Travelsbydreamer exactly😃
The 777 cabin is crap compared to A350. QR's A350 seats are better and the cabin atmosphere and humidity are far superior in A350 as well. Can arrive much less tired than on 777 flights.
Newer experience for sure, product wise not much in it though having flown on one earlier in the day. Good points made on cabin pressure etc, I love the 350 due to quietness, 777 is very noisy…
@@Travelsbydreamer Interesting your experience was a little different. I think maybe perceptually I felt everything was more roomy in 3x3x3 than 3x4x3
Do u keep the pillow and blanket
Not for economy, they’re fairly basic. In the business they give you a pillow you can take off which is a nice souvenir though
Are you able to keep the blanket
Technically not as they’re used again 👍
Bad, they broke our suitcase and on the return flight a horrible breakfast. Next time ruefully back to a chinese Airline, they do the same for half the price.
Each to their own I guess!
I do agree 100%
We flew 30 times a year with them. We will never fly with them again
Qatar is not a world class airlines
I juste made 4 flights with them and it’s underwhelming.
The staff is incompetent in buisness and I am not talking about economy who was even worse
On 3 of my flights, the cabin was not properly secured for landing. Safety should be there n1 concern.
They have a good hard product but the rest is dog ….
Interesting take but I think many would disagree, especially in the premium cabins…
Spend 3 weeks in Namibia to try my root ;) You will have a great experience in this country
On Hamada i didn’t appreciate always to bus drive more or less 20 min to get in and out of the plane. But I guess, if you fly less frequent flights, you get this.
I know ANA, you will have a great experience and give your followers a great opportunity to see what some Asian carriers can do.
