I have the V8. Best car I've ever owned. At 60 mph it is only 7 decibels louder than a Rolls Royce Ghost. I lined the trunk with sound deadener and now it's quieter than any Rolls made. Now that's nothing to shake a stick at. The V8 is the one to get; it pulls like mad and eats entry level Cadillacs for breakfast; also extremely reliable, doesn't drink any oil between changes and made Wards 10 best engines award list twice. I get all kinds of looks from Optima drivers, wondering what it is. Design plays it safe and is not daring like the (great looking) Optima, but looks clean and understated... but better than the more boring looking Equis in my opinion.
How much longer will car reviewers bring up Kia's name/status/reputation at the start of the review? At this point, I think most of Kia's perception comes from the car reviewers themselves because the reality is that Kia is on par or better than Toyota, Nissan, or Honda, and have been for a while. I accepted the fact that Kia is a totally different company over 5 years ago. But still, here in 2016, 95% of Kia reviews I've seen still preface with how surprised I'm supposed to be that Kia is where they are. They've been at this status for so long now, people in my experience don't associate Kia with the 1999 Sephia anymore.
KIa needs to do what Hyundai finally figured out what they had to do and rebrand their luxury line of cars. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota did that long ago. Unfortunately in the US, it's all about name and status and no matter how luxurious and great quality the vehicle is, if it's tied to a brand perceived for making cheap, or shall I say, inexpensive vehicles, no one's trying to pay top dollar for it. It is what is.
KIA cars are certainly well made now. However they mostly still lack the sporty driving "fizz", I would like to see a hot hatch (the Pro Ceed GT is a good start), a sportscar and a supercar from KIA. :)
Kias are definitely well made vehicles not doubt about that! But the issue is that they entered a market they never should have, these cars dont sell well because people cant rationalize spending that much money on a kia... personally i would never buy one of these even if they were higher quality (not that they arent already good cars) just because its a kia, i wouldn't spend 60 grand on of these things... also with other competitors entering the market like the continental which personally I think has much better styling and interior these cars will have an even bigger problem selling... I see them pulling this segment from their lineup over the next few years
Mast3rAssas5in I would assume this car is designed for the South Korean market! A country with very high level of national pride. I am sure it doesn't cost them that much to federalize it for the US market. It's not like they are designing it specifically to try to sell it in the USA! They are just giving it a shot, since it doesn't cost them much to federalize the vehicle I guess. :)
For all of you Kia-haters, I invite you to check-out the quality and reliability ratings of the K900. It's among the class leaders in those categories.
Ive been driving Kia Optima's (one got totaled - not my fault; and then got a SX) for about 6 years now. They're great, reliable and looks great. Gas efficiency is awesome. Everyone typically associates Kia with "great value" and it's true. I paid a relatively low price for a fully loaded top of the line Kia Optima. The question just comes down to, for the same price: Would you rather have a fully loaded Kia or a entry level basic luxury car with no added options? Personally, where I live in Toronto, BMW, Audi and Mercedes line the street and are a dime a dozen. They're not really that special at all. There's no point of spending an equivalent amount on an entry level conventionally "luxury"-line cars.
Just bought one in pearl white. Luxury version vs "Premium". Sold my 740 il... this is damn near a 7 Series at half the cost. My first impressions are very positive and this car turns heads where ever I take it. Everyone so far loves it. Kia badge doesn't bother me. With the V-8 it's a quick as my 740 and i'm loving the price/value equation. Don't care about the naysayers.
I just bought one last month that just came off lease. Came out of a Genesis g80 lease and really wanted a G90 but they were not matching the price I was looking to be at for a used car. Very similar cars and besides AWD and Lane Keep Assist I must say I really like it so far. It has all the features you need and beyond comfort you’d expect. Most people say they never heard of it when they first see it but are blown away with a closer look. The 2019 version is great looking and I will probably get one in a few years after someone else take the initial depreciation hit. I wouldn’t mind a little bit less of the “KIA” badges all over it.
Red line really needs to get a new car reviewer. because this guy is always complaining about what he doesn't like. a good reviewer gives unbiased reviews so that others can come to their own conclusions
When I see an S-Class: "Just another Benz" When I see a 7-series: "Just another Bimmer" When I see a K900: "Whoa!" Because I have yet to see one on the road.
I have been watching your videos for some time now what I have noticed is that when you do a video your negative opinions seems to out ways the positive options about vechiles you always bash the car company about what you don't like but you really don't give credit sometimes where its due when they have done something really nice. That's just my option.
Andy Jung I never said I could. And if I was able to afford it, I would spend those 50k on a mid-range BMW rather than something with a KIA badge slapped on it.
I think when it comes to the luxury models, Kia and Hyundai play it too safe with the exteriors compared to their other models. I personally love the Optima SXL, it's really luxurious.
Problem is that targeted buyers of this caliber of vehicle is not really looking for a value. They are looking to ride in style and prestige: which kia and hyundai are not really known for. I like where Hyundai is going with genesis line by creating a new luxury brand. But for now, I would imagine this vehicle will not sell, but will be popular in used car market as reviewer said.
Drove behind one of these today and I also thought it was a Lexus at first, ES specifically. I'm rooting for Kia, their products have been knockouts lately after years of crap, but Kia really needs to restyle this. It's a frankenstein of BMW and Lexus cues. Kind of sad when a Optima or Rio is more original looking. I wouldn't mind being one of those people who picks up one of these used if the price is right though.
Kia can't make a profit when you're not even trying to buy this car new. That says a lot about what you and others really think about this car. That being said, I agree there needs to be some more originality here and the interior quality needs improvement. Honestly, I would buy a new Genesis over this.
ladyvee7110 I never buy new cars, even from my favourite brands. Why overpay when these will be insanely cheap in a year or two? I don't like it either but it's fact and might as well save some money.
i agree. the entire middle of the dash is very similar to a bmw. as well as the rear. the front is very kia soul look. lol it looks like its been put together well. but i would pick any other brand honestly.
What is going to happen to this car when the Genesis marquee is launched? Seems kind of confusing why they'd keep this when they have a full luxury line.
Why does this guy keep comparing this car to an S class or seven series this car is not in that league it's more five series and E class and you get a whole lot more for your money
The only thing I don't like is that darn joystick style shifter! Why make something so simple so complicated just to mimic luxury brand BMW? Didn't have to go that route just for style points! Otherwise I really commend Kia for their aggressive styling & daring decision to enter this luxury segment! I'm definitely interested in this vehicle, plus with one of the industries best warranty program how could you go wrong name plate aside!!??
120 views within 11 minutes are not bad and I hope one day you will visit a Lincoln dealership to review a Lincoln Navigator Reserve to see how well it does with that EcoBoost V6 against its long-time rival, the Cadillac Escalade.
Car is the second biggest expenditure a person makes, after the home. Obviously every person wants the best, which means different things to different people. Billion dollar automotive industry goes out of their way to make the common man believe that a 5 years old Benz is better than a brand new Kia. Any student of physics would quickly dissociate with that kind of argument. For many more money you pay for a car, more prestigious it is to buy. Mercedes is the most expensive of the three German Biggies. Does it deserve the price over other biggies Audi and BMW. It is all very subjective. Asian competition was put down for obvious reasons. It took a couple of decades for Lexus to be accepted (rather grudgingly) by the industry that it is at par (if not better) than the three german biggies. It was difficult to watch this reviewer ... very condescending in tone. Sounds like a “wanna be”. I was considering the Audi A8. My neighbor kept harboring on the Genesis G90. Went to look at it. Was very much on the fence between the two and then a colleague of mine simply said ... “you owe it to yourself to take the time to test drive the Kia K900”. Needless to say, the K900 is now mine. And yes, Mr. “Wannabe” I paid cash for it and could have done the same for an Audi A8 but it’s about VALUE for me, not pretentious status
I'm guessin car reviewers really are into a manufacturer's status. Why do you need to make another name for yourself as a company when you make cars? Does everyone have to follow the Toyota, Nissan route. They should be proud of who they are and their not so flawless heritage, and just be who they are, "Kia" and "Hyundai!"
Are you saying that Peter Schreyer "suddenly" copies other company's design just because he's with Hyundai and Kia (has been for the past 10 years) but not during all those years at VAG? LOL never owned a Kia, don't really like it either but I think that's what you call prejudice. BTW, Luc Donckerwolke who was in charge of designing the Gallardo and Murcielago just joined Hyundai Kia so lets see if they somehow copy Lamborghini design now XD
Motor Trend tested this car and they were running highway speeds when the brakes decided to lock up all by themselves. The reviewer said he was lucky nobody was behind him. That said, I will stay away from this brand.
I'll take the Cadillac CT6 over this thing or even the Lincoln Continental Black Label which is $80k and that is a lot of water to swallow all at once.
I think a lot of why not many people buy this car is because it's a kia. it's a nice car but why get a kia when people in this class can afford a flagship German car.
Remember this car was advertised by Lebron. He never drove the car and sold it. Its still Kia and Hyundai. I did check out at dealership. It looks luxury but feels cheap. They are spending too much on marketing. Sorry it doesnt feel luxury like german brands.
the problem with all lower tier brands making high end luxury cars is they choose to use that same cheap ass badging . like the kia looks awesome till u see the kia ugly ass badge . i mean i wouldn't buy one but its great alternative
+CmanCorporations how its just 3 letters, lol?! beside everyone who has a KIA usually just gets the Korean logo on it which is a fancy K. which I prefer
Kia is taking a different route. It is too expensive to sell a different brand because this means that you will need a new set of dealers. People get confused think Scion in Toyota dealerships. Would you buy a lexus from a toyota dealership? Toyota does this on purpose to establish Lexus as full full fledged luxury. This car exists for different reasons.
I have the V8. Best car I've ever owned. At 60 mph it is only 7 decibels louder than a Rolls Royce Ghost. I lined the trunk with sound deadener and now it's quieter than any Rolls made. I wish I could afford the K900, it's my dream car. I own a 2014 Cadenza SXL
@srthellcat707 I like the new Cadenza models, I wish to upgrade eventually, the unreleased 2020 model is my fav.

I care about the product, not the badge!! Nice car!!
7 years ago today, I buy 16 Kia K900 sedan.

not hating, but that doesn't say much. what year was YOUR 740iL...there hasn't been a 740il since the E38, of course the k900 is better.
These are still nice and you can get one with low mileage for about 22k which is an absolute steal
I just bought one last month that just came off lease. Came out of a Genesis g80 lease and really wanted a G90 but they were not matching the price I was looking to be at for a used car. The top level Kia K900 V8 I found to have a higher quality interior than the last 7-Series and more comfortable in the back than all but the W222.
Red line really needs to get a new car reviewer. because this guy is always complaining about what he doesn't like. a good reviewer gives unbiased reviews so that others can come to their own conclusions
“I personally don’t like touch screens it gets your finger print all over the screen” buys a Tesla model 3 🤨
I love your reviews man. Very honest and you tell it like it is no sugar coat.
i think it looks far more beautiful than a merc or a bmw
As Mr. Regular from Regular Car Reviews would say, this car would exude "stealth wealth."
"Mercedes like seat controls."
Mfw when Lincoln has been putting their seat contols on the door since the early 90s. 😂

Maybe the car is just bad and does not deserve positive opinions? Just maybe. I mean, it's a luxury KIA. Who the hell cares about buying this?

Andy Jung
I never said I could. And if I was able to afford it, I would spend those 50k on a mid-range BMW rather than something with a KIA badge slapped on it.
The reviews are fine. We're not here to listen to him kiss ass we're here for objective opinion and statements about cars.
The Kia badge is a subtle anti-theft device
Actually, quite the opposite now lol
@@j2skillful Yeah, not any more (my original comment)
This is a great and through review. Like all your views, Great Job.
I think when it comes to the luxury models, Kia and Hyundai play it too safe with the exteriors compared to their other models. I personally love the Optima SXL, it's really luxurious.
I think Kia and luxury is still a shocker today. I've seen 0 K900s in person, besides 1 at an auto show
should be more popular on the used car market. Unfortunately the 10 year/100,000 warranty is non transferable.
Same my aunt has it and it is nice its almost as nice as my uncles genisis
Problem is that targeted buyers of this caliber of vehicle is not really looking for a value. They are looking to ride in style and prestige: which kia and hyundai are not really known for. I like this car. I think that this would be a great CPO model.
Some competitors.... Some competitors.... Some competitors....
"German competitors, German Competitors, German Competitors, German Competitors..."
Such gorgeous Korean luxury sedan and it's reliable
This dude always has a problem with everything. What car he drives?
He drives a 2016 Mazda Miata. Before that, he owned an Acura ILX.
Your hate attitude really comes thru. Better to review the car for what it is rather than bending everything from a point of view with an agenda.
I love this damn car

great review one of the best you've done
guess this will be a great first car for me
Just wondering if there is any vehicle door that doesn't have "a pretty solid thunk"?
What is going to happen to this car when the Genesis marquee is launched? Seems kind of confusing why they'd keep this when they have a full luxury line.
Hey, great vid. Love your channel and have done for the past year. Can you do a review of a top-spec Mitsubishi Mirage G4 please? Thanks!
So what DO you like ?
Why does this guy keep comparing this car to an S class or seven series this car is not in that league it's more five series and E class and you get a whole lot more for your money
Bullshit
Great review as always
they still have those autozone side vents
Loved the review!
Samething goes on the equus. I'm just looking foward to G90 reviews

Kia's font is actually my favorite car font. Do you know the name of it?
If Kai continues these luxury cars, they should consider changing the badge to the original one 😁

lol i have the exact same car shown here. color and everything

they finally made the shitty looking vents around the lcd look a bit less shitty by giving them sort sort of symmetry.

Be willing to bet extremely high cost to insure because not many sold and body parts will be scarce. Same was true of Genius first ones anyway
Is this better than an Acura RLX?
Absolutely- the RLX is not recommended!
they don't hold value well or they didn't sell. seeing a 5.0 liter v8 2015 with 20k miles for only 30k

Hey bro do you reccomend the miata cause i was thinking of trading in my g35 coupe for one
Take a look at the Abarth 124 bro it sounds crazy
CKPHH Whao just checked it out sounds mean, good call.
Sofyan drives a 2016 Miata and says he loves it! It's on his Instagram
great video
Apparently not selling well, looks like people still don't see past the badge, though it is pricey
i like it, but I would never spend that much for a Kia.
I would
It's just pathetic how much Kia copies. They should spend more money on being more coming up with their own shit.
like other brands don't lol. ever heard of inspiration
Javonte Hill there is a fine line between inspiration and straight up copying. Kia crosses that line.... By a lot. You have to be blind not to see it.
+Fadic 4 Then please explain how KIA is "copying"
Are you saying that Peter Schreyer "suddenly" copies other company's design just because he's with Hyundai and Kia (has been for the past 10 years) but not during all those years at VAG? No way Jose. Used at dealers going for $54k. Your way off.
Phanthidan H
look at the off-lease only website in the Orlando, fl area and you're gonna see them for just over 30k
It's like Kia had a 4some with BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes and made this.
when are you gonna due the Honda accord 2016?
i hope la soon
Can u review audi a8l 3.0t please?
NO! 4.0 twin turbo V8!
will you do a review on the infiniti q50 red sport?!
I think a lot of why not many people buy this car is because it's a kia. it's a nice car but why get a kia when people in this class can afford a flagship German car.
HydroDiffusion you can’t afford a flagship German car at this price. Maybe a midsize but not a flagship
Can you do a review on the Nissan Sentra
Optima looks better...
I like the optima more :)
always thought that "k900"" was a horrible name
sounds like a bad movie about a dog or some shit
Remember this car was advertised by Lebron. He never drove the car and sold it. Its still Kia and Hyundai. I did check out at dealership. It looks luxury but feels cheap. They are spending too much on marketing. Sorry it doesnt feel luxury like german brands.
I agree it makes no sense to buy one of these new. Lease one or wait for one to come off of lease.
Very smart.
You lease a German luxury car. You dont lease Japanese or Korean.
the problem with all lower tier brands making high end luxury cars is they choose to use that same cheap ass badging . like the kia looks awesome till u see the kia ugly ass badge . i mean i wouldn't buy one but its great alternative
I agree, they need to have a luxury brand. That KIA logo is so fugly.
Seat controls from Mercedes
Gear shifter from BMW
Infotainment wheel from Audi
Everyone wants to be the germans these days 😂
