- G'day, you mob! In today's video I chop up a bunch of my variegated Monstera adansonii mother plants and try to set up a $5000 run on the aeroponics system. The plants include Monstera adansonii var. adansonii albo, var. Monkey Mask albo, var. Laniata ablo + mint.

We end up with about 60-70 cuttings in the aeroponics system. Hopefully they all survive and should root nicely within the next 2 months.
Oh man. My plant friends said I'm good at rooting. I'll take it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol 100% hahaha
Dang cat just batted your efforts right across the room. Lol such a cutie
Lol she's a nutter haha
Woot another aeroponics run! Can't wait to see a whole lot of vigorous rooting in the near future. 🐸🧦😜 Damn that Siltepecana is huge! *that's what she said* So many beautiful plants definitely worth making more of those. Loving this channel Pete keep up the good work.
Hey, mate :D Thanks so much! Which one of these would you grab if you could?
Oh man I never would have thought it'd take 2 hours to answer that question. 🤣 I'll go with the Albo Laniata, that variegation is stunning.
Lovely cuttings! Can’t wait for the update.
Hehe cheers, mate!
I tried propping Jade and a couple of other succulents really successfully in my 24 cell hydroponic set up (had a few spaces spare and wanted to experiment). The Jade had amazing super fine noodley white roots within a week. I bought the hydro prop because of your videos and I have had amazing results, I’m eyeing up plants to chop up for round three. Cheers Pete
Hehe amazing work, mate! And it gets like that. I'm constantly thinking about what else to chuck through it haha
I think most succulent will root like crazy. Most of them propagate well in water anyway. But I think some cacti will fail but not all. Epiphytic cacti and fast growing dry forest cacti will root fine.
@@StalkerNaturaliste Good points. I might have to try it some time and see how it goes.
Lol. I could watch your vids all day. Question: where did “frog in a sock” come from? Awesome, entertaining video!!!
Hehe cheers, mate. It's just an expression used in Australia. Dunno who first coined it, but it's been around for years.
That said, I definitely overuse it.
@@petevsplants7516 no no. Please overuse it!!! It’s part of the awesome charm of your videos!!!!
Amanda from cranbourne vic, I have commented a few times…. I would love some tru blu rooted quality cuttings of each you showed today. Can’t wait to see the journey of the cuttings. ( punts intended, Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI!! Keep it coming Pete love your work
Oh legend, thanks, mate! Stay tuned. I'll try to remember to post when they're up on eBay!
OMG .. I was cooking dinner and literally screamed "No Peaches! Don't have at it!! " My husband asked me who Peaches was. And I said "Pete's cat"..and he just shook his head and walked away which I completely don't blame him for...🤣
hahaha
Peaches, I love you! ❤
Hehe :D
Thanks Pete, it’s good to know about the black beneficial fungus. I would have assumed it was rot.
Also, didn’t know that you can place pon over Lecca in your reservoir.
Your cat is awesome!
Pon over leca is amazing if you don’t want the leca sopping wet-but it does raise ur water table so take that into consideration when potting but my preferred way is no drainage-one to two inches of leca and the rest pon and when I water never water/full reservoir past the leca. No idea why those are the rules in my head-but it works!!
Cheers, Michelle. Yeah, I've found there're a few different benefits to the leca. One, you're using less pon which is way more expensive (at least here). Two, you can add more water, which means you're watering less. Three, the roots often grow down into the leca and have more space down there to take hold and really start sucking up the water.
🐸🧦
Awesome video Pete!
I was going to listen to this in the background, but got completely distracted watching and forgot what it was I should be doing🙃
haha my job here is done then :D
Your cat is so cute!! She loves your voice 😻
Yeah, she's a funny one lol
I have the small Siltepecana very nice leaves!
Yeah, they're stunning, huh? The silvery kind of variegation on them is amazing.
Peaches, come back! You are the star of the show 🤩
lol
Too funny and informative 😅
Hehe thanks, Teepee!
Your 48 site cloner is pretty compact compared to my homebrew. I went with 50mm x 50mm per site, 600mm x 400mm overall and it can still gets a little cramped on space :)
I have an aeroponic system without a cover and the growth was slow. Sadly. Your looks great.
Interesting. Might be the humidity level that promotes fast growth then.
@@petevsplants7516 combination of both
actually i wanted to see how u set up the aeroponics spray, the pump used, the water solution used, timer for the spray etc
Hey mate, it's pretty easy for this system. It's just a pump with suction cups on the bottom that you press into the container and then the spray nozzle is already set up and just clips in the top.
@@petevsplants7516 could you do a video showing the setup, we already know how to cut stems 😄
I have to agree as I had a hard time figuring out how to set it up. There are a few YT vids. The instruction manual wasn't helpful at all.
Tropical cacti (like Epiphyllum) do GOOD in ... well in leca. Have had one in it for years, has flowered and gave me mini dragonfruit like fruit (just a bit more sour than real dragonfruit).
Oh very cool! I'll have to suss them out.
Would you recommend keeping this system on say a sheltered deck that has A LOT of filtered sunlight rather than buying a grow light for it, at least while we're still getting this BONZA weather? Or would it be too hot (currently in the high 20s early 30s in Sydney) and would a grow light indoors be better? Also can't wait for the update vid on these cuttings, esp the ghostly ones 😆
I think it should be fine as long as it doesn't get direct sunlight and the wind doesn't blow the humidity dome off it. Should be fine.
Love that El Salvador Siltipicana. Just got a cutting, but I think it a standard. I’m a sucker for silver leaves and might be the only monstera I want to keep in juvenile form.
You freaked me out throwing that cutting to the cat! Glad you got it quick. 😂
Just curious, your lady have any reaction when you talk about root enhancers or using beneficials for roots? 🤭
Haha yeah, that's what sucked me in too. The silver leaves. Lol she's Brazilian so I think it'd fly over her head haha
Any chance you can do a vid on the nutrients you use for your clone box? Great channel, I bought a variegated Thai because of you!
Hey mate, it's coming out in the next few days (I think). It's definitely scheduled to be out soon. I just use the standard nutrient solution I make up and probably dilute it down another to 25-50% strength of my already 50% (so I guess 12.5-25% total). I just pour in a 3L jug of my normal 50% strength solution into the reservoir to make sure there's a weak amount of nutes floating around in there.
@@petevsplants7516 thanks!! great video keep up the great content
Hi Pete, thank you so very much for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. Love your enthusiasm and humour, keep the good time’s rolling! By the way, what is your eBay shop name so I can add it to my favourite sellers list? Can’t wait to get me some of those beautiful cuttings 🌱🌱🌱🌱💕
Hey mate, thanks a lot! The eBay store is in the description box. Let me know if you need me to direct link it here.
Hi Pete. I would love to buy a couple of the laniata albo when they become available. I'm not sure how to go about this?
Hey mate, msg me on Instagram and I'll keep you posted with things. Otherwise, just keep watching my eBay shop :)
Question: *do runner nodes have two aux buds?!*
Nah, they just have no leaf or only the petiole part coming out.
I like your videos. If I could ask for 1 thing could you not use the lords name in vein please.
hey, what's the name of these green adapter on 31:32?
Pete, what is the brand of your aeroponics sytem?
Hey Patrina, I think it's Sea Hawk.
Definitely a shitload!
And i was wondering
For experimental curiosity try root the white cutting???
Especially peaches, piece of shit potential killer toy 😂
Hehe it's just a waste of time. It may root up or at least start to, but with no chlorophyll (or at least very little) it'll die fast as it'll have no way to produce carbohydrates for itself.
LOL
You cant judge your laniata's petiole sheat on young leaf, look at your oldest growth (it doesn't need to be mature)
omg if u sell gloriosum can i bye one even if its an ugly one i got one and it has the tinyest leaf trying to unfirl but it has doen tothing in at least 3 months
Lol if you're in Aus, then yes :D I'll let you know!
If ur not in aus and in us I have massive plant u can have all of or half of lol
Omg he didn’t sleep all night editing this video!!!😂😂😂 it’s 6:20am now uploaded 19minutes ago!!!’😮😮😮
Haha may have scheduled it ;)
Before I forget is that a satin potho behind you and if you are cutting that up 😂
Haha the Scindapsus? It was a pot up of 5 plants on the struggle bus from Bunnings about 6 months back. Seems to be doing okay though :D
You did not just toss a beautiful plant in the bin 😩🥺
He did, because it will die anyway without any green
@@katbattt i knowwwwww lol still stops my heart for a min when I see people toss stuff into the bin and Im like noooooo zombie leaf do not leeeeeeeave us!!!
@@heathie03 haha yeah true, I hate throwing living plants away 🙈
lol it was a goner mate :(
I do that crap to threaten the surviving nodes.. like a little passive aggressive warning.. “be better or go to the garbage like your compadres”
