Finland gained a lot of athletics gold medals before WW2 from long distance running, with Paavo Nurmi alone getting 9 gold medals. They used to call them the Flying Finns.

We have a new president now. Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb. In Finland. Smart guy. Speaks 5 languages. Btw the Swedish Å is pronounsed as O except Swedish who pronounce O as U and U as something between Y and U. :D

Norwegian here, and I'd like to point out that there is some information in the video that is wrong. Our "independence day" is wrong. 17th of may is our national day, where we celebrate our constitution being made and us being freed from Denmark. We don't celebrate the day we gained independence from Sweden. But we have an independence date that is from the 2nd world war which is on May 8th.
    Good reaction though :)

All the other Nordic countries wonder too why we have such a "crazy" independence day but it is very simple: it is a date when we actually had our independence. Other countries are so old I don't know do they even know that date?

Yeah, and the Norwegian independence day, 7 June, isn't celebrated or even known to most Norwegians. Norway celebrates its constitution day 17 May

Mämmi is made of rye. Usually people eat it in Easter, with sugar and cream or milk .

Sweden don't have the Spanish language, haha. I don't know where they got that from, but from what I know, the largest minority in Sweden is Finns, for obvious reasons. And no, Norway's national animal is not a lion, haha, we don't have lions roaming around, it is just the royal animal from the coat of arms, like the rest of the Nordic countries. Their national animal is also the moose. And on a final note, the crimate rate of all the Nordic countries combined is still much safer than most big cities in Europe and America. ;)

Norway has no official national animal. There have been several reconciliations over the years. The moose has been suggested, but NRK has an article online where they address the topic, and there it is pointed out that there are far more moose in Sweden than in Norway. It is argued that the wild reindeer should be Norway's national animal, and the article's voting holds the wild reindeer as the winner with 42% of the votes today.
The last remnant of Europe's wild reindeer tribe can be found in Norway, so I vote for it.
Second place is held by Fjordhesten/The Fjord horse, with 19% of the votes. The Fjord horse has traits from the ancient horse and is particularly adapted to the Norwegian landscape.

The Salary is the so called "apanage" which is the total money that the royal house gets from the swedish state (tax money) That money has to go to the staff, taking care of the royal buildings, travels, etc, etc.

    • @ahkkariq7406
      @ahkkariq7406 2 місяці тому +1

It's the same in Norway. Some of the buildings covered my the apanage are not even private, but official buildings owned by the Norwegian state.
There has been a large backlog in the maintenance of several of the buildings, so the apanage has been increased in periods to cover the necessary maintenance and modernization.

The moose is the main national animal of Norway. The lion is Norway's national royal animal

The Swedish king do not have 15 Million in salary for himself.
About half of the sum goes to Slottsstaten (the State of Castles), which takes care of the eleven royal castles. The other half goes to the Hovstaten (the Court State), which finances the royal family's expenses for representation and all those that are employed there.
I assume it is the same for Denmark and Norway, but the presedent in Finland do not have any other expenditure and it is his salary.

Finland was known for long distance running back in the day. Our last medals from long distance running came in 1980 olympics. Last medal in running all together came in 1984 in the mens 110m hurdles. Since 1984 the only athletic medals we have gotten has been in Javelin Throw (7 medals, 3 gold medals from 1988 on) and shot put(1 medal, 1 gold from 1988 on). The last athletic medal we got was in London 2012

    This is a bit outdated.
The queen of Denmark, Margarethe II abdicated in January and now the new king is Frederik X. Also Finland got a new president, Alexander Stubb, a month ago. And the prime ministers have changed as well. The current pm of Sweden is Ulf Kristersson and the pm of Finland is now Petteri Orpo.

I believe it is the yearly budget directly to the royal house, not a direct salary to the monarch.

Odd that Norway has a larger male than female population. World wide the female population is and has always been larger.

Norways prime minister term length is fixed to 4 years, but can be reelected for another period, so it's not true that it isn't fixed.

Those yearly salaries for royals are for their families, not one person alone. In Sweden, we call it apanage.

Sweden is extremely safe. The crime index is distorted a bit because of gang violence.
Normal people leave their strollers with a baby outside when they visit a café or shop...
People in the so called "No go zones" let their children walk to school on their own.
Of the around 200 people I know/have known I can only think of one who ever was robbed.
Some rates have rocketted because of law changes, like a child posing naked in front of a webcam is considered rape now, a husband having sex with his wife when she's asleep is also rape. So law changes skew the stats a bit.
