Getting introduced to Thrice was single biggest impact made on my life. I don't know what I would do without them. They will always and forever be my favorite band
The fact that this song uses lines from some of their best older songs - and that they named it Anthology….it couldnt BE more perfect. My vote for the best band to ever do it. Whos with me? And to sound like this live…
I remember when I started listening to Thrice while working out alone in the weight room during high school. People would come in sometimes and ask what band that was. Soon enough, everybody was listening to Thrice. Good times. The guitarist is incredibly talented, that was what stood out to me most, and even though they're not the same as they once were, their foundation is still the same.
I know this is 7 months late, but your comment beautifully summarizes my relationship with the music of thrice, starting as a punk teenager and moving into mature (hopefully) adulthood. As a band and as artists, they stayed true to themselves as they progressed through their albums, never moving backwards, but always wanting to become that next iteration of who they are.
Thrice has undeniably been one of the most influential bands in my life since I was 13 or 14..... I am now 35. I have grown with them and undoubtedly they have made a monumental impact on my life. Even knowing they are strongly rooted in Christian beliefs and I am solidly in the Atheist camp(not preachy about it, my choice make your own.), it makes no difference to me. the message in their music is still just as strong and powerful. Thrice fan for life.
Grossly, disgustingly underrated. Got to meet Dustin, Teppei and Riley in Charlotte a couple of weeks ago and they were a few of the nicest people I've ever met- especially Dustin. 'Anthology' is the capstone to one amazing musical career.
i'm a guitar player, and i imagine dustin's voice over all of my songs .. it's the default voice in my head ... i wish i could find anyone with similar voice to bring my songs to the level i imagine.....thrice are my favurite band since i was sixteeen and now i am thirtythree
It pisses me off that Thrice won't be talked about like the Beatles are talked about. Completely and criminally underrated. I know the band is okay with it, and I know us fans are okay with it, because we know how special this is. But at the same time, this is quite literally the greatest lyricist and singer of all time, and is backed by a powerhouse of people who know how to play their instruments, but not overplay them. They deserve ALL the recognition, and then some. They've made songs that make me want to fight, songs that make me want to love, songs that make me want to cry, and everything in between. For me, they are the end-all, be-all, of how I will judge anyone in the music industry. And they are the only ones that will be able to match that scale.
Lyrics: Our life's built of tin cans and string But the cornerstone laid is a Wondrous and beautiful thing Sure in the ground And while the north wind has taken its toll You have helped me to find my way Back and to anchor my soul Safe in the sound Oh, you know me Oh, and I know you And I know that We can see this through I bragged of baring my bones Said if we heard the howling I'd run out to face it alone To meet it half way But I've still got badges to earn So keep sifting my soul 'Cause I think that I'm starting to learn To love you that way Oh, you know me Oh, and I know you And I know that We can see this through And it's true that you could snap my neck But I trust you'll save my life instead 'Cause our love is a loyalty sworn If we hold to our hope Then I know we can weather the storm Whatever they say, come what may Oh, you know me Oh, and I know you And I know that We can see this through
I remember this was the last song on their supposedly last album. It's obviously called "Anthology", summing up the history of their music, and if you listen closely the lyrics are all segments from their other songs.
It was the penultimate song, but it definitely could have been the closer. Disarmed is the last song on Major/Minor and it's like a little neatly wrapped bow on Thrice's career as it was at the time. Until Hurricane. Thrice is thematically brilliant.
True that. Started listening when I was in middle school to Illusion of Safety. Every single one of their albums still gets me. True musicians who know about and acknowledge in their songs all the pain and suffering going on in the world today and try to help.
It's true that you could snap my neck I trust you'll save my life instead Cause our love is a loyalty sworn If we hold to our hope Then I know we can weather the storm Whatever they say Come what may
This song was one of my favorite moments at their Farewell Tour... I've never seen a crowd come together like we did during this song. Thrice is glorious, and will be severely missed.
It's such a shame that bands like this get overlooked for the djent crap Rise Records keeps regurgitating. Thrice changed lives and they don't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve. They are true musical geniouses that mastered genres across the board and made it their own. I can only pray they make a comeback
I'm so envious at how perfect all four of them fit together when they play. My best friends and I will never have that chemistry. And to think they've grown better rather than drifted over ten years
I love the way that Thrice has progressed. Everything that Thrice has done is incredible in its own right. It's sad to see such a great band stop playing.
Saturday afternoon, just after it rains, sun's coming out, flying down the road with the windows/sunroof down... generally speaking, this is the ideal environment to play this song.
Bubba- it was at the brew pub across from the venue. I'd only been to Charlotte once before that but best belive that that was the best visit I'll ever have to that city.
I actually took the initiative to make a youtube account solely to comment on this video. Thrice, you've been a huge part of my life since I was a freshman in high school, and now I'm 22, still listening to your music. I want to thank you all for creating innovative, creative, and genuine music that has the ability to fulfill many genres, giving us listeners a wide variety that prevents you from becoming boring and redundant. This video sounds perfect, and you guys truly deserve more reverence.
This song is a beautiful send-off from an incredible band. It incorporates aspects from all of their styles throughout their career. Thank you, Thrice. Hope to see you again one day.
first heard these guys back in 2003 when i was buying the story of the year CD in warehouse music and these guys were on the shelf next to them so i decided to give it a scan and fell in love once i heard silhouette and artist in the ambulance. They still make there way in to my workout music.
it amazes me every time i see a live video of these guys that they sounds as good or better than they do in the studio. just crazy, very underrated band that I hope more people start to find.
By the time Artist came out, I had grown into something beyond an obsession to Thrice - a sort of realization that this band would literally guide me through my life. I'm currently 23, making a meager living off short fictions, and it has all been inspired by Dustin. Not Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Steinbeck, or Chekhov, but Dustin Kensrue. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today if it weren't for his words and voice. I usually set Major/Minor on repeat now when I sit down to the Word Processor.
Some of the most technically proficient musicians who still give 100% passion as well. I mean there's literally no difference between the live version and the album except the slightly less polished vocals.
You're right, this isn't the thrice that made my teenage years, but I'm not the same person I was as a teenager either. That's the beauty of Thrice. They grew and matured, just like me. I'm sorry if you're the same person you were as a teenager
This is my favourite song ever. Thrice are my favourite band ever. The Alchemy Index is my favourite album ever. I have the Alchemy Index album cover tattooed on my forearm. I love this band a lot.
Can't believe their done now :'( they had such a great impact on my life. I discovered them my freshmen year of high school when they came out with Vheissu (I know, I'm a late bloomer with Thrice) but they got me through high school and they are a gigantic inspiration to me. I cannot wait for their reunion tour, which I'm positive will happen ;)
If they really "made" your teenage years, you wouldn't have disliked this. The world keeps spinning, yet some people stay exactly the same. I feel bad for you.
67Patapouf There is no maybe about it. I remember the first time I listened to Major/Minor, my mind was blown the whole way through and then this came on. There are no words to describe how stunned I was. Quite possibly the best song ever written.
Getting introduced to Thrice was single biggest impact made on my life. I don't know what I would do without them. They will always and forever be my favorite band
Thrice is the best but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🐺
hell yea brother. the more you listen, the better it gets.
Amen
Thrice are good people. And so are you.
Feel you bro
One of the unspoken best bands of the last 10 years.
Amen Fabio
+Fabio Matteo Dozio an understatement. One of the most under rated bands ever
Theyve been playing since '98, IMO the best band since then.
They literally have gotten better and better and better true progression that speaks to the soul of everyone
best century
One of the better songs ever written by one of the greatest bands to ever grace the ears of humans. Thrice will forever be my favorite band.
The fact that this song uses lines from some of their best older songs - and that they named it Anthology….it couldnt BE more perfect.
My vote for the best band to ever do it. Whos with me? And to sound like this live…

I have a playlist just called 'Greatest Songs Ever', I put this in and haven't found anything else worthy of joining it
Haha maybe you can add redsky?
You know thrice is a great band when no one has anything negative to say about them. A super rare thing. Easily my favorite band of all time.
I remember when I started listening to Thrice while working out alone in the weight room during high school. People would come in sometimes and ask what band that was. Soon enough, everybody was listening to Thrice. Good times. This never ever gets old
I honestly almost cream my pants every time I watch this. What a voice, such conviction! What a band! Please come back...
Hell yea! Man I wish they would get back together and tour!
Jeff McGuire they are i believe, check their website www.thrice.net/
They're back
They played this live when I saw them the other day. It was an encore. Super shocked and pleased! loll
this song always makes me cry because it was the last song they played in Denver before they went on their hiatus.
I enjoy listening to this version more than the one on their record. Just, so good.
That guitar going out of tune keeps it raw, too. And i love it (Teppei’s guitar goes out of tune after the first chorus)
How are these guys not ginormous right now? So talented and sound amazing
This song exemplifies perfection.
No other band can exert positive emotions out of me (or anyone else for that matter) like Thrice can. BY FAR my favorite band...EVER.
Every single album the band grew, like some crazy musical metamorphosis. Not that they made a bad album, they just continually made better albums.
It pisses me off that Thrice won't be talked about like the Beatles are talked about. Completely and criminally underrated. Still here in 2022 jamming to this.

And in 2024.
@@jasonziemba5885 I mean. I think we’ll always be jamming to it 😂
One of the best Song,underrated

Lyrics:
Our life's built of tin cans and string
But the cornerstone laid is a
Wondrous and beautiful thing
Sure in the ground
And while the north wind has taken its toll
You have helped me to find my way
Back and to anchor my soul
Safe in the sound
Oh, you know me
Oh, and I know you
And I know that
We can see this through
I bragged of baring my bones
Said if we heard the howling
I'd run out to face it alone
To meet it half way
But I've still got badges to earn
So keep sifting my soul
'Cause I think that I'm starting to learn
To love you that way
Oh, you know me
Oh, and I know you
And I know that
We can see this through
And it's true that you could snap my neck
But I trust you'll save my life instead
'Cause our love is a loyalty sworn
If we hold to our hope
Then I know we can weather the storm
Whatever they say, come what may
Oh, you know me
Oh, and I know you
And I know that
We can see this through

Those high notes at the end are so SOLID!!!
Heard these guys live at The Yost, unforgettable.
What a perfect song...
These guys have always been awesome........ Bet they are still relevant 40 years from now!!!!! Fuckin good band

que canción mas linda por la cresta

This song is incredible, it's amazing. All the past references, it adds up to perfection.
Thrice forever holds my deepest appreciation and admiration.
Thank you. This is exactly how I feel about Thrice, and it's one of the reasons I value them so much.
In 2022 it keeps actual and amazing

this Thrice song is full of good vibes and nostalgia!!
I'm the same age and started listening at the same time. Love these dudes so much. Words can't describe.
Thrice is one of the most criminally underrated bands of last 20 yrs. I hope they have another 20! Thrice is my favorite band n always will be✔💯🔥🌶🍻
It's true that you could snap my neck
I trust you'll save my life instead
Cause our love is a loyalty sworn

Im sure they know, a band doesnt need recognition to show its best
So glad I found this band out in 2003. Honestly this song makes me cry
Unfreakinbelivable
I just saw them live in Tempe, AZ. Just amazing. If you get the change, go to their show. Nothing like it.
Oh you know me,
Oh and I know you.
And I know that we can see this through.
This song is bigger than life.
thank you thrice, for writing this song.
3:53 blown away, these guys sure can write one hell of a song!
Just after the rain breaks and the sun shines through: that’s this song.
thrice never gets old
Walked out to this at my wedding❤

only a few can understand the greatness of this song, and the glory of this band! It makes them far more valuable.

Great,great,great band.... cheers friends
Thank you for the music.
3:09 gave me the chills... great build up

amazing performance from an amazing band!!!
Maybe their masterpiece

This is scary good.
this is such a great comment. i wish more people would see it this way.
