BOW D AND CO SLAMS A NICE BREW OF ORANGECELLO TOGETHER , IT CAME OUT FANTASTIC , YOU HAVE TO TRY IT , DRINK IT STRAIGHT UP OR MAKE SOME ORANGE CHICKEN WITH IT ........ENJOY....!!!
I am so glad to have found this video... because I was always told that Orange Peels are Bitter! Thank you and your family for sharing these great videos. The reason I am so interested in making and bottling Limoncello is... my great grand father (God rest his soul) left his receipt for making Limoncello (just like yours) he was Italian too... D'Alessio ... and I just found it and I want to make some bottles to give to our family and hand down the tradition...I found the recipe with my mother's belongings after she died... (God rest her soul too)... Thank you again for sharing all your families love... I miss our Italian family... lots of love.
@thizizliz It does not have to be refrigerated , store it in a cool dark place such as a basment , then put bottle in the freezer 24hrs before serving and then store bottle in freezer after opened ...... you can get grain alcohol in some states like Rhode Island .....and you can substitute grain alcohol with vodka but its not as good ....
@purity4all Yes it should not be that difficult , either you need to try a different peeler or mabey you got a soft batch of oranges , ....?? Try the peelers on a lemon if it does the same thing its got to be the peelers .... good luck...!!!
Just made gifts of the orange & lemon cellos and now people want me to go into business! Wasn't prepared for that. However I am scouring the internet for specialty bottles. Of course I give you credit for everything! In addition to this, I found and made a recipe for Kahlua & something along the lines of chocolate liqueur. Thank you, Mr. Bow D, so much! I think I'll experiment with apples, pears and whatever else I can think of! Peace & blessings to you!
@AngryLlamaz It's crazy thats what happens , the lemoncello does the same thing , its the best part of makinig the stuff , as to why .... im not sure ....lol...enjoy...!!
@bluescenes Any new potato peeler should do , the black one was a rubber maid brand , you just have to get the hang of it and its easy.... good luck...
Thanks. We make this each year and I enjoy seeing how you can filter without any spilling. After 3 weeks, we are using equal parts of simple syrup and alcohol infused fruit to make the Limoncello. I notice only the colored area very sparse or no white pith makes it even better. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the quick reply! But it just do happens that I stopped into a Michael's Art and Craft store and found 2, 3.1 liter glass jars that have hermetic seals. So now I'm ready to roll! And thank you for your help!
Excellent vid. After watching, bought bottles from amazon (375 ml Clear Bellissima Bottles, 12 per case) and had to bus it to New Jersey from New York City to get Everclear. Next stop, Costco (for those beautiful oranges, lemons & apples) then to Walmart for the remaining supplies (new peeler, glass containers, etc), Office Depot for labels. Thank you for sharing. Giving as Christmas gifts.
Dissolved sugar is chemically different from simple syrup. If it works, it works, but to get simple syrup you should boil for a short time-- not so long that you caramelize and evaporate.
Nice job peeling /no pith…. I would give anything to sample it : ) The color is also amazing! Thanks you guys! Really enjoyed watching your video for sure!
@purity4all Because that was the first filtration , with the alcohol and rinds only , when you add the sugar water or simple syrup it changes the appearance to the finished product...
I followed your tomato sauce recipe an it’s delicious.. I have a grafted lemon tree that grows lemons, limes an what I call Orlems Orange/Lemons that have a tangerine, sour lemon lime flavor to them. I think I’ll use the orlems to make this recipe.. what could go wrong? Orlemchello.. 🙏
you probably dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother lately =)
My first ever batch of limoncello is ready to bottle. I tasted it today and it's excellent! I used a little less sugar than you but it still as a nice hint of sweetness and really great lemon flavor (12 lemons per 750ml of everclear). My orangecello will be ready on the 29th. I'll let you know. Thanks again for your help and happy thanksgiving to you and your family! Ted Staten Island, NY Badda bing!
@purity4all At 5.16 you can see the change when I add the simple syrup , it changes the look , we also filter it a second time after the resting period.
@bowhunter2439 Thank you, yes, I think it's the peelers, they won't peel anything citrus not even a grapefruit. Sucks though, they were literally just bought yesterday. Then I went to the store today and picked up another one, a different brand and it did the same thing. What brand are you using? Do you know?
@seattwa Great Ted , Its good you fine tuned the brew to your liking , there are so many variations , this one works for us , thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you also.!
@KerryBerenato Some leave it another month , I know some Italian recipes go straight to the freezer as soon as the simple syrup is mixed with the infused alcohol , there are lots of recipes , I like to let it sit for an additional week or two , thanks for watching.
@seattwa I would use glass , you do not need a tight seal at the top , just put a bowl cup or plate on top to keep dust out , what ever will cover the top of the container no problem , I would not feel good about using grain alcohol and plastic ... good luck...!!
@TheRaulip Yes grapefruit , lemons , oranges and limes.... Lemons in my opinion are the best but they all will work , follow the same recipe as the orangecello for a small batch of each....good luck
@purity4all There will always be some small amouts here and there until you get the hang of it .... try putting less pressure on the peeler and see if that works , .... a standard peeler should work.
@seattwa No problem , like I said before this is a basic recipe that I have tweeked for my personal taste , you can re tweek it , by experimenting with small batches , good luck let me know how it comes out...
Awesome video!!! PLEASE do a lime version! Maybe mango too? Pineapple too? What about Meyer Lemons? Or grapefruit (pink)? The motorcycle revving was annoying though.
@bowhunter2439 Thank you! I will do a search and see if it's available in California. Really cool idea. Good to know about the storage and serving temp - I'll make a tag to go on the bottle as part of the packaging. :) But mostly I can't wait to try it.
Wow, these look like they'd make nice Christmas presents, but since Christmas is so close, I'll have to settle for my mom's birthday in February. I don't know if anybody has asked this question yet....but where'd you buy the bottles from? They are nice.
2.2 cups sugar and 4.5 cups sugar , bring to boil , then allow to cool to room temp , then you can add it to your strained 750 ml of grain alcohol that has been soaking with orange peels.
I have got to try this stuff! I have to cross state lines to get the grain alcohal though...bet it'll be worth it in the end(: These cello vids make me want to get smashed! Great upload yet again. Make a meatloaf sometime (Bow D of course)
This recipe looks AWESOME.....I think I can pull this off........one question though, I have an INDIAN motorcycle with a bug spattered windshield, if I clean off the bug guts will my Orangecello still be AMAZING???? LOVE THE VIDEO... Thanks for the laughs !!!!!
Awesome. Im gonna make some of this, drink it, walk up to people, stretch my arm out, and give them a firm push on the chest and say.. You Talkin to me?
You could but not sure how it will come out , grain alcohol is the best thing to use , some people use vodka and combinations of vodka and grain alcohol , moonshine would take the oils out of the rinds but not sure what kind after taste it would have....
@bowhunter2439 I have been at it all day. LOL I tried a pairing knife, a serrated knife and the two veggie peelers. the veggie peelers won't do anything but squirt orange oil in my face unless I put more pressure into it, then they have a pure white back. I have been painstakingly using the serrated knife. I'm going Christmas shopping tomorrow, I think I will be on the look out for a sharper veggie peeler while I'm out.. Does the pith make a really big difference in flavor? Thanks for the help.
I am getting the ingredients together to make this Orangecello for Christmas gifts this year! Thank you:) I have most of a batch of Limoncello left that I made last Thanksgiving, can't wait to try it after it has been "mellowing" for a year:) I have tasted it every 4 months and it keeps getting better and better:) Would you please make the orange chicken with this and show me how? It sounds fantastic! I love your accent:) Oh, yeah... trust me... you have one;)
Could I make an a"peel", to your "Experimental"-side and inquire abt. adding 2-3 Tangerines to the batch!? I like to mix it up! Also, that's the 1st time, I think I've ever heard anyone use the Term, "Bad-boys", when referring to Oranges!🍊 Thanks for the video!
No , once it has been soaking , all of the oils have been aborbed into the grain alcohol and the remaining chips are completly void of any more flavor , stay tuned candied orange peel vid is coming up shortly.....
Not sure where he got them from, but if you have any home brewing stores near you they should have them in stock. They are called bellissima bottles and are also available from many stores online. A case of 12 bottles will generally go for $25 - $30.
i started buying the mexican coke and using those empty bottles after i finish using them when i make this to give away , i keep the real orangecello bottles for home use :)
'screwdriver's' are screw's that drive, from now on. -everything just fine here including kitchen/cookware(peeling tool&glass bowl). ... can't place the accent for trying - guess i'll be back to do that. thank-you for lesson and time to give it.
local wine and beer shop , they are quite common and can be had with little research , I think its called wine and hobby shop wouburn ma , you may be able to order on line.
I am so glad to have found this video...

A scoop of gelato with lemoncello, and another scoop with orangecell sound like a plan. Looks terrific!

Thanks. We make this each year and I enjoy seeing how you can filter without any spilling. After 3 weeks, we are using equal parts of simple syrup and alcohol infused fruit to make the Limoncello. I notice only the colored area very sparse or no white pith makes it even better. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
This looks sooooo good, I never thought I would ever make my own alcoholic drink, but this is a must try.
Looks good 👍 I use the orange juice and lemon juice in my version and instead of water I use 🍯 honey .
@lalilaksha Those are great lemons , the orangecello came out great too .... enjoy and thanks for watching....!!

Awesome! If Limecello in your future, you'll have a colorful assortment of Cello's.
@purity4all Because that was the first filtration , with the alcohol and rinds only , when you add the sugar water or simple syrup it changes the appearance to the finished product...

@TheRaulip High quality vodka is the replacement for grain alcohol , should still come out good....
after you strain the peels, I would rinse them in the water of the simple sugar mixture just to get the extra alcohol and flavor out
Digging the Boston accent!! 💪🏻
Just made my first attempt. Not sure why, but it didn't turn cloudy after adding the simple.
@shawnio Liquor stores carry it depending on the state ...
@bluescenes on second thought it may have been a faberware , we used both and they were fine....
I've been waiting for this vid - love it - Thank you :)
I was like a 6 y.o. when he poured in the syrup...I audibly said "wow!" 🤣 I'm a goof, but I wasn't expecting that at all!
@ladypooh412 We bought them at a local wine supply store .
Mine stayed clear did I do something wrong and will it still be good to drink?
2.2 cups sugar and 4.5 cups sugar , bring to boil , then allow to cool to room temp , then you can add it to your strained 750 ml of grain alcohol that has been soaking with orange peels.
Its so easy to make and tastes fantastic , makes a great holiday gift also .....good luck...!!!

@seattwa MIX 2.2 CUPS OF SUGAR TO 4.5 CUPS OF WATER , TO MAKE THE SIMPLE SYRUP , MIX TO ONE BOTTLE OF EVERCLEAR
How much simple does this recipe yield?
'screwdriver's' are screw's that drive,from now on.
-everything just fine here including kitchen/cookware(peeling tool&glass bowl).
... can't place the accent for trying - guess i'll be back to do that.
thank-you for lesson and time to give it.
@Kanoee64 he sounds like a new yorker... you can get pretty much anything there if you look for it
Showing You Some Love!!
Good luck , we are making another batch soon also .....!!
Does the fermentation container have to be glass? Or is plastic ok. I'm having trouble finding 1/2 gallon glass containers that seal.
Love both vids gotta try both :)
Aren't oranges from the supermarket coated with a protective anti-pest wax? Would that be harmful?
I want to know where you are getting those amazing bottles and jars in your 2 cello videos.
local wine and beer shop , they are quite common and can be had with little research , I think its called wine and hobby shop wouburn ma , you may be able to order on line.
I've seen them at hobby lobby
@simplequestions95 Awsome , great to hear , limecello is next by request ......should be cool stuff.....!!
