    So glad to see the videos in the last few months. I came across your channel when you posted your first video. I thought you had given up the project cause there were no videos for so long.
    You talk about the sound but it's not really that apparent and kind of low quality. If you can stick a separate audio recorder in a backpack/under the seat for a better POV sound of the exhaust/blowoff would be appreciated. Would be cool to see if you can make it happen.

      I plan on doing a price breakdown around summer time for a video. I may write up a post as this would be easier and then a video along side this
      Thanks for checking the channel out mate I really appreciated it 🙏🙏

    Subbed. With a turbo set up, Yamaha may be able to satisfy Euro-5 and EPA emissions requirements using the recycled gasses in the system, minimizing wasted energy expelled as CO2 and other pollutants.. So what's stopping them from producing a factory CP2 Turbo? (No one asked for this explanation/opinion, but here it is)
    If I had to guess, cost to produce the MT-07 is low enough that Yamaha continues to turn profits, hence it's nearly 10-year production run with minimal upgrades. The market appears happy with the motorcycle, and sales seem to be steady for the, now long-in-the-tooth, MT-07. Sure, they could add a turbo to this motorcycle to liven in up, but when you start upgrading performance of the motor, the rest of the bike has to follow suit with suspension, chassis, and braking performance. Bottom line is, we'd have to have enough "whoa" for all of the turbo GO, and that drives up cost to manufacture significantly, which will get passed into retail pricing for the final consumers. That could put the OEM in a risky position because, well, what if it doesn't sell in dealership showrooms? Then the OEM will have to assist in moving the inventory by offering consumer rebates so dealerships can get out from under product that may be costing them floor space and interest...
    ^ Curious about other's opinion on the subject, so if anyone would like to chime in, please do so.
    But, really, why wouldn't this motorcycle sell? As previously mentioned, price is the one thing that would stop a turbo MT07 (MTurb07?) from flying out of showrooms, but I firmly believe that enthusiast riders with a desire to ride a motorcycle to its peak ability would be infatuated with a CP2 Turbo factory option. I currently own a 2019 MT-10, but if Yamaha were to release a new generation MTurb07 with Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, Ride by wire system, TCS, and an upgraded chassis.... I would have to act up and snag one.

    • @Whatton_moto
      @Whatton_moto  Рік тому +1

      I’m not sure I could have really put this any better myself to be totally honest, great way to look at it all and I agree with your viewpoint on the above.
      It would make for a fantastic production bike, selling the upgraded version so to speak with the Turbo. I do think their cost would go up pretty high though as they would need to outsource for much stronger conrods, such as Carrillo rods which can more than withstand the increased power output. Lower comp pistons I imagine is more than okay for production to make in house, then I think they would need to invest time and resources into figuring out other upgraded and stronger components. Suspension needs the upgrade, breaks without a doubt, TCS, fuel injectors. I think then also with a higher active compression rate.. depending on how much boost is tuned into the bike, they would advise to run nothing less than 97 octane for increased risk of pre detonation with the higher compression ratio. They would probably drop it down to 9:1 compression at a minimum to make up for this increased risk if users did go for a low octane source, potentially dropping the boost set into the bike to be on the safe side. Roughly at 4-7lbs of boost at 9:1 they could potentially get the CP2 engine to around 100bhp at a rough guess… however this would still make for a very fun and punchy bike, along with upgraded forks, suspension, breaks, TCS and any other mods, I believe it could make great sales as an upgraded version of the bike, along with increased fuel economy with the turbo.
      This might be too close in the performance of the MT09 at 115hp, which could possibly cause customers to jump up to the 3 cylinder instead… however I think the Turbo 07 could be sold as a limited edition, cream of the crop in the CP2 range which would cause it to sell like hot cakes at a higher price. God I would love to see this done but possibly it’s too much time out of Yamahas already successful MT07 production time and floor space to make room for the limited edition version? I’m sure they could make something special!
      All this talk makes me want to keep upgrading my components and make this project into what Yamaha could do… on going project but I’m sure I can get there :)
      Thanks for the comment, would be great to chat over this in person as it’s an interesting topic !

      Mine as all of that plus hordpower airbox and rear 45 sprocket and it just flies, still mt07 is my favourite bike even after riding mt09 and so. Id like this turbo 07 do 60-120 mph because i think that is where this turbo will shine 0-60 in a bike without traction control like a 07 is all about control, wich with a turbo bike isnt gonna be easy

      Yeah unfortunately a Turbo can be a little costly, however it’s definitely a blast to ride one if you ever get the chance. I would love for Yamaha to actually release a Turbo 07, it would be fantastic. They would seriously need to reinforce there engine components however as there are some parts which need it… no doubt that would increase the retail price a fair amount
      If they did however release one, I seriously don’t think any other bike in this 700 category will ever come close in terms of sales, it would be such a fun bike from the get go
