My husband just lowered his A1C from 7.4 to 5.6 in less than 3 months. He ate a low carb diet (no sugar, very little carbs, no artificial sweeteners) and took 2500 mg of cinnamon (with chromium & biotin) and Berberine. He also dropped 20 pounds. He is very thankful for this informative video!!
Mines was 5.5 January of this year then 5.6 in September since then I cut off soda just drink water eat less portions and excercise I wonder what it will be next time I go to the doctor office I hope it’s gone down even though now that too much
I’ve had diabetes type 1 for 12 years now, I’m 26 yo. I weighed 56 just a month ago and my a1c was 8.2.. I started a diet with no sugar and started hitting the gym and taking creatine monohydrate. 20 days later I gained weight I’m 59 kg now and my a1c is at 6.7. Today marks 30 days since I started the diet and I tested my a1c in a lab.. Ill inform you later about the results, pray for me.
I had an A1C of 15.7 and a glucose count of 467. This was on 15 May 2019. I went keto omad and after a week my glucose was at 123. In 3 more days I was at 100. I then went carnivore and my glucose has been running between 75 and 95. I have started longer fasts and just finished a 3 day fast. I refused metformin and insulin. I also started walking and I train with kettlebells and body weight movements. I'm 62. My glucose seems to have leveled out now during a fast which tells me my body has reset and my liver is producing glucose more like it should. During an earlier 2 day fast it got down to 67 although I felt absolutely fine and had a killer kettlebell workout that day. I only check glucose twice a week now. My next A1C check is on 12 August. Big pharma can go to hell.
@@domesticviolencemastery3609 my A1C on 12 August had fallen from 15.7 to 5.6. That's less than 3 months. No one needs to be a slave to allopathic medicine of big pharma.
I was diagnosed diabetic about 15 weeks ago . with a blood glucose level of 22. The HbA1C (IFCC) was 14.9 3 months ago one week ago the HB A1C was 8.3 in the last 7 months my weight has reduced from 91 kg to 79 a size 42 pants to a size 36. these results are at the age of 60+ Without taking metformin due to extreme side effects. Am having a lot of benefits. not craving a lot of water. not waking up 4 to 5 times to urinate. waking up fresh and lively after 6.5 to 7 hours. have not felt like that in 40 years. It is wonderful to get your holistic approach. Thank you. May the blessings be. My goal is to bring my insulin level down to 3 and totally reverse my insulin resistance.
My A1-C was at 7.5 on Feb.15, 2022 and on Jun 1st it was 4.9. I followed all your advice and lost 20 lbs. Cut out all sugar and bread and most anything that had carbs. I'm back to normal A1-C but I'm still going to stick with the new diet based on the Keto plan. My doctor was very impressed and wanted to know how I did it. Thank you !!
100 days ago I went to my Primary Care group with a BG of 452 and an A1C of 14. At the time I did not know what was wrong with me. I knew that I had a family tendency to become diabetic. My two siblings both have diabetes. I was urinating hourly around the clock. I was unable to ride my bicycle very far without leg and other body cramps. In two months I had lost 14 lbs without trying to lose weight. My PA immediately put me on Metformin and daily insulin injections. I cut all added sugars in my food completely and ate only white toast as my only white carb. After a few weeks I cut out the white bread completely. My diet includes eggs, beans, greens, avocados, some healthy meat, butter, cheese, an occasional sweet potato, and lots of nuts, . My only fruits were berries, such as blueberries. Two weeks ago I stopped taking insulin completely. My A1C test a few days ago was 6.8. As described in the video I expect it to drop considerably by the time of my next appointment with my PA in two months. Along with the vastly improved A1C I realized other health benefits. My vision had been deteriorating a lot over the past two years. It was a huge thing to have my clear vision return completely within a few weeks of going on this eating regimen along with exercise. I am back to cycling over 100 miles each week with no muscle cramping and I have plenty of energy without taking supplements such as gels during a bike ride. This approach to eating works!
Thank you for your EXCELLENT content. I have learned so much from you. At 51 years old, I weighed in at 372 and suffered from chronic pain, migraines and no energy. Life was miserable and I felt hopeless things would ever change. I started the Whole30 on Oct 15, 2019 and ate low carb for that first month. The change was miraculous. On Nov 15th (After the 30 days),I transitioned to keto. My starting A1C was 5.8 and fasting blood sugar 117. On Jan 29, 2020 (3.5 months from my changed eating), my A1C dropped to 4.8 and my fasting glucose to 98. In that same timeframe, I lost 64 lbs. Changing the way I eat has given me my life back. ❤️
I just got my blood tested. my A1c is around 9.5.. I'm kinda disappointed. I was pissed until I stumbled upon this video. Thank you. This video gave me hope. It's not the end of the world for me.
August 18, 2022 my a1c was 8.7. I've been watching your videos for a while and decided that I wasn't going to take more meds. I'm 57, was 295 and disabled. I started keto in October and have been strict minus a few days and try my best to do OMAD. Measured my blood sugar today and it was 97. AMAZING! Thank you!
I'm following your advice. I'm 5'8" male that weighed 234 and diagnosed pre-diabetic and taking max dose of Meloxicam and Lovastatin daily...getting worse day by day. I started IF/Keto and progressed to OMAD/Keto within 2 weeks, and working-up to 30 minutes of mild aerobic stationary bicycle per day. In 30 days I lost 22lbs, my blood glucose is down to "normal levels". My BP and resting pulse are now at "optimal" levels. My pain pain and swelling (inflammation/arthritis) has receded to manageable levels and are getting better day by day. I stopped taking the medications at 30 days and feel better each day. I feel 10 years younger already (I'm 59)! Thank you for educating me on insulin resistance and how to stop and reverse the damage. I am all in on this lifestyle change. I go back to my doctor for a check-up and blood work in 4 months. I can't wait to see his face when the results come back! Edison Pearce 02/13/2023.
Diagnosed April 11th at 12.6 A1C. Did NOT do Keto diet. But did change. Had ZERO sugar, ZERO fast food, ZERO steaks and ZERO fried foods. I kept eating carbs and changed to sourdourgh bread (almost daily eating sourdough). Changed to fish 3-4 times a week, lots of salads and veggies as well for dinner, once a week I make a chicken an vegetable stir fry with SUGAR FREE stir fry sauce, FAGE yogurt with blueberries and strawberries squished in every other day for breakfast. I even still enjoy an Islands hamburger every week for lunch (wheat bun of course). I take a raw tblspn of extra virgin olive every morning after breakfast a tblspn of apple cider vinegar with water EVERY day b4 dinner and a cup of hibiscus tea with 1/2 tspn of cinnamon EVERY day around 9 pm...August 1st, my A1C was down to 5.6. When I went to the hospital on April 11th, I weighed 209 lbs, today I am down to 185
What did you eat and how often did you eat. I am helping my wife change her diet and promised to help her from 11.1 A1c to 5.6 in three months. She went from 362 fasting glucose to 141 in two weeks, but it jumped back to 171 today. We kept the same low carbs and work out, but don't know why it jumped up today. Did you experience lows and highs in your glucose on your way to 4.7? Really hope you respond and congratulations. That must have been awesome to see!

Hi Dr. Ekberg, I started with an A1C of 9.2 after a severe pancreatitis in May 2020. And with a low carb diet, and exercise I lost 40 lbs, and now my A1C is 5.2% My triglycerides went down from 20000 to 50 I'm so happy!!! Thank you Dr, I saw almost all your movies. You're doing a wonderful job!!!
You explains things so well. You are the top doctor and best UA-cam doctor! Love how you present things like keto, blood sugar, A1c and everything so well.
In Nov 2018, my A1C was measured as 14. I was put on insulin shots and medication. After this, I made huge changes to my diet, reducing my intake of high net carbohydrate foods dramatically. Two and a half months later A1C went down to 5.4. I was so surprised. Off the insulin shots and down 60 pounds after 4.5 months.
What are the high net carbohydrates? The high net carbohydrates are foods that I should avoid eating? And if I avoid eating these high net carbohydrates and eat more fruits and vegetables and drink nothing but water every day including fasting will this reduce my A1C level ?
I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes 8.8 which really scared me. I have lost within 4 weeks 6 lbs eating very little carbs. Since my diagnosis I have really watched my carbs intake. I just wanted you to know that this video was very informative for me and will prepare me for my next A1 c test coming up in October 2021. Thank you!!
I’m so happy I found you, Dr Ekberg! I finally understand what is going on with my body and treat the cause not the symptoms. I wish your videos had subtitles in Portuguese so I could share it with all my family and friends in Brazil!

My A1c was 9.8 then 6 weeks of Keto it was 8.6, 4 months Keto it was 6.7. I will find out in a week what it is at 7 months. I can’t wait! Thank you for this video! It’s very informative.
I am 71 yrs of age. In 3 months I reduced my A1c reading from 6.9 to 6 without any medication. I had already stopped drinking regular soda with sugar a few years ago and almost ate no bread even before that. But I still needed to get off all the sugary processed food, including flour, pasta and rice, and any high-carb fruits. I started exercising at the gym 3 days a week, lost 10 Ibs. and tried some intermittent fasting. I don't know what helped me the most to lower my blood sugar, but I will continue with this formula. Sadly my mother died of diabetes complications. But who says diabetes can't be beaten. Thank you for this video.
This is very informative. I was at 11.5 a month ago, dropped 9lbs and my A1c went down to 10.3. Knowing now how long it will take, I feel confident that I can slow my pace and make realistic goals and still achieve the same results. (And this hasn't been me doing full keto. Just cutting back.)
I have been following your advice for the last 9 weeks yesterday as in 2/7/23 had my diabetic check and my A1c drop from 6.6 to 6.3. Thank you for all your advice.s he on UA-cam
Back in 2013 when I was first diagnosed it was 9.0. I was on metformin 500mg twice a day. 3months after it was down to 5.6. shed 30% of my weight, exercised and watched my diet. While I was still on medication my results were between 5.5-5.8 but when it came down to 5.2 reduced med to 500/day. Several months later I stopped taking metformin. My results were the same. Almost the same as when I was on med. I eliminated teff(gluten free whole grain with lower glysemic index). but I still used to eat 3times a day and also snacked. Then I heard about intermittent fasting and keto diet. So that did the magic trick for me. ever since then, my A1C hovered around upper 4.0's and lower 5.0's. A year ago my A1C was 5.0. since around 2017 I eat twice a day and on a low carb diet. It wasn't an easy ride but am there.
Had 11.9, 304 on nov 11th when diagnosed. Then 9.4, 104 dec 12th. Doctor gave me 500mg metformin twice a day, watched these videos and learned to limit carbs. Great videos Doc, thanks!
It toke me 8 months to go from A1c 7.6 to 5.4 and holding. This is low carb and three anti-glucose medication. At this point I am one two medications , Metformin and Ozempic.. During the holidays tough to avoid sugar and be social, sugar is everywhere. Thanks for the video.
Wow, awesome video! This is exactly what I need. My A1c was 8.7, and I've been doing a low-carb diet for 3.5 months, and my new A1C is 6.3. It is exactly like what you described!!! Thank you!!!
Dr. Ekberg thank you for this simple explanation...I go to the endocrinolgist soon and will avoid the temptation to check my A1c ahead of time...she and I can both be surprised ! Started Keto since my January visit and my blood sugar and weight changes are better than expected!

I'm eating ultra-low carb diet (KETO) at 30 g of carbs a day. No fasting. I've gone from an A1C reading of 7 to 5.5 in three months. My doctor called me personally and could not stop praising the drop. He was in shock. Personally, it was not that difficult. I still ate well & was full. I don't like starving myself. I will continue this way of eating for the rest of my life, since it also has helped with my auto-immune body pain. My cholesterol levels are normal. For everyone out there, please note that if you start eating like you were in the past, the diabetes & weight will come back w/ a vengeance. Stay healthy & safe.
This is so realistic and close to ground reality (in most cases if not all). The one person who comments I dropped by hba1c from 15 to 5 in 3 months are edge cases which most people tend to forget and beat themselves up that they are not working hard enough (like myself)
Thank You Dr.Ekberg. My HbA1c was 11.5 on 2/11/2020 and after I followed your guidance in this channel, My HB A1c dropped to 5 as on 19/4/2021.without any medication .and that's four months.Thank you.
What was your highest glucose reading? I just started taking care of my wife's meals and eating plan. What was the biggest factor in your success? Thank you.
Thank you so much for all your lectures/teaching - you help me enormously! This lecture has been especially helpful in setting realistic expectations. I cut sugar, bad fats and processed food almost completely about a year ago but didn’t lose much weight, and checking bg levels w/finger sticks caused those finger tips to go numb so I stopped checking. Still my A1C went from 800’s to 700’s and my doc told me about and prescribed the Free Style Libre 14 day monitor. Now I can measure bg as often as I like and adjust my food intake accordingly. I still wasn’t losing wt like I’d hoped so began water fasting 1/2 of each week and eating 1 meal/day the other half and started losing about 2 pounds a week and lost a total of 75 pounds. Although I am not a beast - don’t have to eat b/c grelin’s been activated and I can do really hard things I began finding it really hard (seemingly impossible) to water fast and in about 3 wks gained back 15 pounds, only eating the same healthful foods, one meal a day most 6/7 days a week. My bg has also been much harder to keep between 70 and 100 on this regimen. Apparently, for me, water fasting is also necessary and just needs to be part of how I do life as a 73 year old with Type II Diabetes. Thank you again for your teaching and inspiration!
Thank you for clarifying this! I started My keto journey 4 months ago and y A1C has just slightly diminished and I was disappointed and frustrated! Now I understand. Thanks again so much!
My husband’s a1c was 7.2 three months ago, we started keto n IF , after 3 months his a1c was 7. He was very disappointed…bt still going keto. thank u dr sten…this helped a lot to understand
It’s amazing how doctors don’t explain this. 120 days can make a difference on A1c. I was told by my doctor I had slightly elevated A1c and I freaked out on till I found this guy explaining it. Thank you for explain it.
2 months ago I had my blood test due to chronic liver issues. My A1C isn’t as high as most people who had commented but it was close to 9. My dr and I had a chat and she recommended to put me on meds. I refuse knowing that it’s probably the food I ate over past 2 yrs if not more. I started into a training program for weight lift and also saw dr Ekberg’s video about glucose, carbs and other similar video in regards to healthy eating. I watch all the food I’m eating looking at the calories and carbs. After 2 months of training and eating more healthy than ever, My A1C drop to 6. Along with my other lab results. What’s even more amazing is my triglyceride drop from 500+ to normal 60+. I’m very thankful for dr Ekberg’s explanation of how things we eat works in the body. I will need another lab in 6 months and I hope to achieve my goal of being normal range of healthy and drop my fat weight and gain muscle.
My routine is 1 hr treadmill and 1 hr weight training daily but now I alternate to maintain. Intensity and frequency depends on your ability. I first started out easy and slow and as I progress My intensity increase.

Wow! I am so glad i saw this video. Now that i know it could take 6 months to drop i feel better. It's just hard to avoid some foods during the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas birthdays etc.
Thank you for this video! I just had my A1C tested and it was 8.4. I am using an insulin pump and my doctor believes I have more insulin resistance now due to added weight around my stomach area. I have changed my diet to one with low carbs and will let you know the results in about a month! I also have a left frozen shoulder and a cortisone shot isn't allowed until I am under an 8. This gives me a lot of hope that I can have this closer to a 7 in a month!
The problem with an insulin pump (other than the implications that one is needed) is sure, it’ll control your blood sugar if it “works” but insulin itself makes you more insulin-resistant as well as being the fat storage hormone, as the most commonly known major function. If your doctor believes it’s the weight that caused the insulin resistance and not the other way around, you should find a better doctor.
I just started to watch you just about a week i started keto diet about a month I started sugar at 277 now I am today 120 now I feel better thanks for giving such a great information I can be patiently waiting to blood sugar to come down one good thing my blood pressure down it has been week I did not any pills this Keto diet is amazingly wonderful thanks
What a fine teacher you are. Thank you for explaining this (and the many other important topics you tackle) in clear, understandable terms. Would you explain inflammation sometime in the future? Wishing you all the best, Bonnie
Thank you boncoon. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. Feel free to ask any health questions, and I will do my best to answer them. I'll look into a video on inflammation.
Since you offered... I have a stubborn patch of dry skin along my brow that actually went away during a dry fast, but recurred about a week or so later. I assumed it may have been a response to dairy and am therefore limiting my dairy to fermented types (since I REALLY like dairy). It hasn't seemed to do the trick. Would you recommend giving up dairy entirely, or what action would you suggest? A video on this matter may be a hit. Your student and fan, Bonnie P.S. Thank you very much!
Hard to say from a distance. In my office we use Nutrition Response Testing to find out why the rash is there. It could be a food sensitivity, but it could also be a chemical, metal or some other stressor.
Thank you, Dr Ekberg for your speedy response. Skin is mysterious. I suppose I'll just continue improving my life and welcome the corresponding recovery! To your health (and everyones)! Sincerely, Bonnie @@drekberg
I was diagnosed with A1C of 6.7 a year ago, and it took me months to understand what was happening to me, one dr saying it is okay, the other putting me on Metformin. The next blood test after working hard on my part to cut the sugar out of my diet was only lowered to 6.5 and at first I was very disheartened. I had to appreciate the good things that were happening to me, swelling and infection down, walking without fear, disposition greatly improved, and sleeping much better. So, thank you for telling me to have a little more patience and also to tell me I don't need to check it every morning when I rise.

I hope the "pre" will be substituted by "non" in 7 months. Thanks again for all your help. I'm really lucky to have you and my dear brother, a dr too, as my coaches. Thank God
I have been checking my blood every day only because I just found out about my A1c and I stopped eating all the crap I usually eat and I am curious as to how low I can get my blood sugar. When it was 380 my wife just about dialed 911. When I found out my A1c was 10 I got real scared. I stopped all the candy, brownies, doughnuts, sugar in the coffee and now I try to eat low carb and low sugar. I got it from 282 to 273 to 158 and I just checked it at 130. I know it goes up and down depending, but from when I started to now I'll take 130 over 380. It's going to be a struggle for me, but at least I know I can make it happen.

Gary, how long were you a diabetic?
Did you limit saturated fats in your diet

Congrats! Keep going! God bless!
That is excellent transformation

Great explanations
Congratulations. That's great.

What are the high net carbohydrates? The high net carbohydrates are foods that I should avoid eating? And if I avoid eating these high net carbohydrates and eat more fruits and vegetables and drink nothing but water every day including fasting will this reduce my A1C level ?

I have never heard it explained like this! Thank you so much Dr. Ekberg

2 months ago I had my blood test due to chronic liver issues. My A1C isn’t as high as most people who had commented but it was close to 9. I watch all the food I’m eating looking at the calories and carbs. After 2 months of training and eating more healthy than ever, My A1C drop to 6. Along with my other lab results.
Hi, Please let us know your A1C changes monthly. It's been 9 months since you have commented but didn't report your numbers yet.

Thank you Doctor Ekberg. I had already know about the red blood cells. I've been on keto 5 months. But since you have explained it with the chart, so well,... I now know that it will take a full year for my A1C to be where I need it. That really helps me to focus and reach my goal.
So glad I found this video. My initial a1c was 6.6% ...3 months later it was higher than that (7%), this despite lowering my sugar and carb intake. I was disappointed bc my daily blood sugars have been good but im going to be patient and hope to see some positive changes in the next 3 months.
How are you now?
8.2 to 5.5 a1c in 3 mos. very low carb (not keto) with OMAD-22/24 intermittent fasting. also lost 35 lbs.
@Rebecca Myott - What did you eat?
Sweet. (Without the sugar of course.) Congratulations.
Do u hv IG? May i follow u?
Low carb & intermittent fasting
is Keto.
Mine was 10.7 and in 3 months it droped and come on 5.15
I really like the way you explain things. I've learned so many things and as I'm supposed to be pre-diabetic, I'm really determined to hit it once for all. The fighting has started since 2 weeks now.
I really appreciate these videos Dr Sten I am down almost 20 pounds in three months with an A 1C of 5.0. Strictly following your advice
Thank you for the truth. Thank you for the explanation.
I loved this video. The numbers in my head just didn't make sense. After watching this, It all makes sense now. Thank you.
This guy hit it right. People don't get to A1c of 11.9, 14.6 or 15.9 etc. overnight. He said the body takes time to adjust. Stick with it!
Thank you DMZ67Y2Y2. Right on.
I'm on a low-carb no-sugar diet for 6.5 months now. I've been fasting for 3 days and my blood sugar is still 230. Dr Ekberg can you please add a comment or reply it would be greatly appreciated. I love your videos. I love what you're teaching. I enjoy watching them. I've watched many of your videos and intend to continue with this diet low-carb zero sugar.
You might need to work out daily and after every meal do a 20 mins walk, this will definitely help.
Thanks..great info.
