I just want to say, as someone with some experience in the profession, this is one of the best examples of localization I've ever seen. You not only translated it to be coherent in another language, but also altered minor aspects to be more approachable to the culture the language originates from while keeping the spirit and message intact and not just making a brand new song. Some localizers out there are getting paid to bastardize media, so I'm glad people like you are doing this.
As a linguistics nerd, speaker of language, and someone with no experience making (but lots of experience consuming) localised products- I fully support this message. And I have a question- what do you think is the solution to localising puns?
I ask because in season 5 of My Hero Academia All Might makes my favourite pun of the series, replacing his usual "watashi ga kita" catchphrase with "watagashi ga kida" as he makes cotton candy for the UA kids. The English subtitles don't even try to capture the pun, they just go for a rhyme (I haven't watched the dub yet). My question is- what's the solution here?
