When I was on honeymoon in Italy, I was amazed at how all of their windows in Italy and Germany were these tilt and turn windows. They're incredibly rodust feeling, and if I was building a more modern home, I'd absolutely have to go with these!
@@JordanSmithBuilds I think part of it is that they open in limiting furniture placement a bit. I think some of it is I'm not a big fan of the look. It's just personal preference when it comes down to it.
But, if the house is built to excellent, insulation and air, infiltration standards, is using three pane windows worth the extra money in utility savings? This is a serious question as there is now some modelling available that the occasional UA-cam video mentions that states you don’t actually save that much money. The ROI is 20 or 30 years.
The ROI may not be there, but it's a matter of comfort. This is more so prevalent in the colder months on the north. You can have your heat set at 72 and still feel chilled with standard windows
Ooohhh you hit on a hot topic! In my opinion, a good double pane with high end coatings will perform almost as well as triple pane, and maybe just as well in certain climates. For me, I would save the money on the extra glass, and invest in a great double pane window with sturdy reliable hardware
@@JordanSmithBuilds good point Cardinal glass using 270 or 366 and e80n-a 4th coating-come close to triple pane without weight. bUT American frames are the problem-no where near close to what th Europeans can build. So for a durability , and air sealing standpoint not even in same league-12 locks on all four sides ? That’s 2-4x times what you get on the best american windows. Workmanship? Not even close

I had a similar revelation when I was over in Europe too! The tilt turn blew my mind.
Wowsers! A heated window! I just might put a couple in & give them a whirl later this sunmer!
I'm looking seriously at them for our build this summer in the Salado Texas area
Those are awesome. Thanks for the intro.
Alpen sells affordable tilt turn windows using the Roto hardware. They are made here in the states.
I would love to try them on a house!
Pretty sweet design.
I'm not a fan of tilt turn windows but that radiant heat is something else!
Why don’t you like the tilt turns?

Personal preference for sure. I’ve always thought they were the bee’s knee’s!

The window is much hotter than he is? Not possible.
I’d take uPVC windows over woods
