So sad to hear he left us RIP David Crosby, and thank you Rolf Maibaum for this beautiful guitar lesson of an all time great Croz song. He was just a great musical force. His music will live on forever.
I agree with the others: this is one of the very best guitar tutorials I've ever seen!
I came here because I heard "Guinevere" on Devs S01E06.
Thanks Rolf, I agree with all the positive comments I've read. You've made a song that seems impossible to learn attainable at last!
superb.... thank you so much. What a joy to be able to sing and play one of the most beautiful songs ever written. If this was the only song David had ever written, we'd still be forever indebted to him.
I found this last night, but had to come back to say that you, Rolf, on the last day of 2019 taught me to play a song I could never quite get right in over 40 years. And in just a few hours. Still got a little tightening up to do, but all the basics are right there. This is without a doubt the best guitar lesson I have seen hands down. I am yours master, teach me more. Wax on. Wax off. LOL
Happy New Year, my friend!!! And thank you for making my year.
Wow, this is like the De Vinci code explained, tuning, chord shapes, it's all here plus vocal voicings, awesome.
If I closed my eyes, not sure I'm not listening to David and Graham, beautiful and accurate cover of this classic ever, Kudos ;-)
OMG the way you teach is genius! So easy to follow and clear. No talking needed. New subscriber ❤
Thank you. I’ve decided to play this now that you’ve taught it to keep Crosby’s music alive in my house. I always thought this was magic.
This is a great straightforward lesson on how to play the song, no filler fluff. Thank you!
This is a magnificent tutorial of a sublime tune. Really encouraged me in learning it. Thank you!
This is a fantastic lesson. Best one on UA-cam for this wonderful song. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Amazing job you did here and all of us CS&N- fans should be grateful to finally get this tune in our fingers due to you!
I've always thought this to be the most beautiful, yet elusive guitar part ever. Crosby's playing was always a mystery to me till I learned to play Deja Vu, and now this one in the same beautiful tuning. Subscribed and now playing this one after so many years!
Same here, Guinevere is my favourite Crosby song & I’ve wanted to learn it for years ! What a fantastic tutorial, very much appreciated my friend, “Subbed & tuning in” !🤠🎶🙏 Another one I’m having trouble with is 4+20, anyone else ?
One of my all time favorite Crosby songs. Thanks for elucidating it! Great video 🙂
Fabulous video. Clear. Concise, Easy to understand. Great camera angles and aides (fretboard markers & play order etc). Spot on. Among the best out there. Great work. Thank you 👍🏼
1st heard this on Woodstock Lp & loved it! Always thought it was difficult as heck ! Thanx a bunch ! 🫵🏽
Just amazing..so complicated but also Crosby simple..
Excellent tutorial, I wish more online instructors used your method!
Thanks so much... no mindless chat, just showed me the song with the tab. Perfect. 6 minutes later I know a song I've wanted to play for years. Thanks again... felt the need to with Croz's passing.
Great tutorial and great David Crosby song and arrangement. Someone once laughed at a David Crosby concert when I said he is my favorite guitarist. I would like to have told that person that this is why. So many examples over the past almost 60 years and he's still doing it.
Beautifully played, beautifully taught. RIP David.
That was terrific. No BS. Very easy to follow along. Thanks very much!
One of the most helpful tutorials I've seen. Thank you so much.
Adding my compliments for your well crafted lesson. I loved this song in the seventies and thanks to you the magic has returned. Many many thanks!
Loved it, Rolf, beeeeautiful, soulful. Congrats, mate!
Thanks so much Rolf. Excellent tuto! You've given me a lot of happiness and achievement here!!
Great lesson. The others on You Tube don’t have it right. Learning this, my favorite David Crosby tune, in his honor. RIP
Thank you for your work and giving us this wonderful help! What a beautiful song!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. After this superb video I know I can look forwsrd to playing well. Thanks!

I Love This! Great Tutorial and Thank You Rolf! The Best I've Seen.
Rolf Maibaum...you nailed it. Thanks for the lesson. Danke!
Bloody Marvelous !! Thanks very much Rolf
Beautiful, ethereal, haunting song.
that is just the best lesson I've seen and I've seen a lot. Love the song which helps but using the separate channels and the tabs make it so easy to follow on headphones.
Gorgeous! Thank you!
Thank you for this lesson! amazing
Excellent lesson nearly there

Never though i would be able to play it

Wow, what a complex song! Maybe I"ll get to it someday. Thanks for showing us how!
Time to learn this classic with David’s passing yesterday! Beautiful tutorial!
Man you absolutely nailed it and I thank you
Incredible tune. Thanks. 🙂
Thank you very very much! You are a genius and great person!
Love this song... part of my high school sound track... now David has passed on..... Thanks for the beautiful music ! I also like "Cowboy Movie".... on his "if only I could remember my name" album.
Nicely done, Rolf.

Awesome video, well done, thank you for your contribution! I don't know how I would've figured this all out on my own haha.
excellent even the vocal harmonies.
So, good. Thanks!
Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much for this lesson , by the way it is the best , regards from Peru
Sehr schön.Jetzt weiß ich auch mal wie es funktioniert. Grüße .
Thank you so much🎵^^
This frustrated the hell out of me when it came out in the 60's. Impossible to play....if you don't know the tuning and a few new chord patterns. Bing, bang, boom. It's like seeing behind the magicians curtain. Thanks Rolf.

Thank you very much!
Thank you thank you and thank you
Thanks a lot Ralph ! You’re a super teacher 💪😜👍
I tried a lot before to play that wonderful song, I loved since the end of sixties, but ignoring the open tuning, I could never achieve it ! Thank you for this perfect tuto ! And further, that’s free ! What a gift 😀👍
One of the best Tutorials I've ever seen! And I've seen a lot.....

Nice one. Thankyou.
Thanks my fav song
Superb Rolf
Thank you.
muito bom
bset demo ever thank you
Thanks! I've never seen or heard of this type of guitar tuning. Just striking all the open strings gives us what, an Em b711? I should look up this song and see what the chord charts look like lol
On the bar chord 3rd fret, there is a descending base line you missed !
If you look and listen carefully, you will hear it: ua-cam.com/video/zAJ7-fFZjZc/v-deo.htmlsi=2TIxmLeA4-Z6LFRV&t=145
this is so fucking good!
👏👏👏👏👏
You did an excellent tutorial on this so thank you. Did you notice that your low E string is false? Just a side note.
hi again Rolf, would you by chance know the tuning for this david's song "the us below" from his sky trail album....thanks !
In his own words: On Lighthouse, are there one or two main tunings that you favored, or is each song in its own tuning?
I used five different tunings on the record, at least. The two first songs-“Things We Do for Love” and “The Us Below”-are in the same tuning, Eb-Bb-D-G-Bb-D. It’s my new favorite.
You'll find it here:

hello Rolf! thanks for the tuto ! would you know by chance what chords crosby uses for for 'the us below" by chance ..i 'm just trying to set myself to guitar again!!!!! b t w, it seems you're playing on a D41?isn't it..nice sound..i wish i could offer me one !! best from france !
Just a Sigma! You can afford it.
Kinda close, but by the intro I can see inexperience below my own and you could learn the intro from the guy who posted 5 years before you..
Can you please upload a complete TAB to go along with this video?
Have a look at this: ua-cam.com/video/L4Eyw0KWEOc/v-deo.html
Did each of the CSN have different tunings? Stills is EEEEBE I have heard, your thoughts?
Crosby was always experimenting with open tunings, he told that he was using 5 different tunings on Sky Trails. Although there are some well known stills songs with open tunings too, for example 4 and 20. I'm playing in drop D but it's not Stills' original tuning. ua-cam.com/video/BY2NdKrE8nk/v-deo.html
Hi Rolf! Thru The Roof!!!
Question? Listening to the original, i hear an Electric guitar parelelled to the Acoustic guitar. Did you separate the two guitars? [as both guitars produced overtones of Harmonics.]
I listened to Crosby's solo and duo live performances and the lesson is based on that although the middle part is slightly different from all versions. I had a listen to the original and yes, there is an electric 12-string guitar on one channel. The overtones you hear are the high strings of it. There is no bass on the original, I just added it to have more bottom, it copies only the low notes of the guitar.
@@RolfMaibaum Hi, Are you performing a duo at present and have gigs or is this what you like to do for in the near future? Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't know you got back to me until now 1 month later.
@@Wilma1529 Yes, I'm playing in a 2 Piece Band but not Stuff like this. It's just a Party Thing:
ua-cam.com/video/P7VJHaobrpU/v-deo.html
Can someone explain how the picking pattern changes when switching from the intro to the part before the verse? Is it the same as the intro or the same as the verse? Thanks
Same pattern, other bass notes.
Rolf Maibaum you’re the best!
Guinivere is one of the most haunting presentations I have ever heard. I tried many times to figure the guitar part in open E. Now I have the key! Triad is also haunting!
Congratulations. Do you have the bass score to send? Thank you
Unfortunately not but you can listen to the Bass seperatly on left channel. It plays the same notes as the Guitar Bassline.
thank you
@@roscustomer2652 I took a look at the video editor. I've got a clip of the bass. Not as good as a score but you'll see how I played it. May take some days to render and post it.
ok Rolf, thanks for your interest. I look forward to your video. you're very kind

what would that tuning be called
Crosby's special? :)
Does this tuning have a name
Crosby Tuning?? I don't know anyone else who uses it.
Interrupting this wonderful tutorial to insert another @#$%^&* ad is disgraceful! Google not making enough money these days? Huh?????
