Tool. Descending (New Song). Tulsa, OK. 2016. BOK Center. 01.16.16 Audio by specialk. Video by: / lachrymistpatient11 www.puscifer.com www.toolband.com
INTERVIEWER: "Speaking of, you played a new song called "Descending" in Tempe." ADAM JONES: "Yeah, it's a working title. We have a song that's probably about 13 or 14 minutes long, so what we've done with it is ... I don't want to call it a "best of," but it's a shortened, different approach to it. It is a new song. It's like a vague movie trailer to the real movie [laughs]. Sometimes we do jamming between songs or some kind of segues, and it's usually involved in some kind of new material. But that one's just a little taste of things to come."
I was at the Tulsa show. Tool played flawlessly and seemed to be in a rather chipper mood. I hope to see the rest of this show posted because it was epic.
In My own private universe TOOL is the most ARTISTIC and POWERFUL SUPERBAND that exists. To me "TOOL" as a title ACTUALLY MEANS their music is a "tool". A tool to be used to reach and bring to light and LIFE parts of the mind through the actual "penetrating" effect that their melodies have on the human body as a force. Parts of the mind that need be HACKED. I FEEL their music and it FEEDS ME.
fuck this song is so incredible now that we've finally heard it finished, but woooowwwww did baressi fuck up the mix and master. and no bass distortion on justins bass chugs really hurt the album version. this song is a fucking work of art, the kind of song you really do wait 13 years for, just a bummer that to hear how it REALLY sounds i have to pull up live videos
FINALLY someone says it exactly how it is! Too many people don't realise how special Justin's tone is! Seeing all the live versions (in this and the full form) just shows how much Baressi missed the opportunity for something amazing. A shame, that's for sure.
Bryan carter Pushit is also on Salival, it's live and a longer version. The beginning of it the salival version sounds like some of this song which hopefully isn't used. Adam has said only parts of whats being played is what they are working on. Oh and btw the Salival version of pushit is much better.
Danny's electronics had a little mishap during his solo but he didn't miss a beat. Maynard's vocal effect stopped working during No Quarter so he threw it down and decided to rock out for the rest of the song. There was a pretty good vibe in the air. Maynard even commented a few times saying, "I smell marijuana."
I guess I don't get it, hasn't this been a breakdown in between other songs for years? How is it a 'new song' called 'descending'? Like isn't is just Schism at the end?
+Grant Z Price At Halloween concert in 2015 (if I'm not mistaken) there was paper with setlist where this piece was listed as 'Descending', so, people call it like that. It is probably section of much longer song that should appear on album.
I wish Chancellor would have held off on the distortion until later more towards the end when Danny did heavier single hits. Seems like the ending wasn't as clean as other times. Either way looking forward to whatever they put out.
Wow another long drawn out intro-jam session-doodle, this time filed under the guise of "Descending" which I hear is a new song, but when i turn on the volume to this song, I hear the intro to 46 and 2 and Lateralus somehow mixed into this clusterFUCK. The end is like the ending to Aenema with perhaps a sprinkle of Third Eye. Fucking blow me if you disagree with me. You're wrong.
Omg Tool have written a song using notes, played on instruments, that you can hear with your ears! They've done that before! What a terrible band! Fuck off, you utter moron.
I like them, but my main beef with this sound is that it's a lot like the Tool I've heard a million times. You can cut and paste this breakdown into a lot of Tool songs. I thought they would come up with something new on their next album. and ya know "evolve"
Country Of Origin please? "...Middle English" Descending? ...Can I have it in a sentence please? Yes...as in, "Tool's New Material capability is descending."
+The King of all Awesomeness Which is dumb. The album should be written together. Vocals can influence musical ideas the same way music influences the vocals. One of the biggest problems with 10000 Days is how the lyrics sound like an after thought.
I love the sound of this so much, but I can't help remember the last time a jam was turned into a song and how something that was really cool, like this, became overdrawn, forced, and boring (Wings for Marie the whole thing).
+James Gronen (Gronan the Barb) lmao you tool fans are hilarious. Okay Justin. I bet you're Justin. Since you never talk and no one talks about you, we'll just assume you're the bassist.
+Viewing Account I've talked to him personally bro, and Adam, they have respect for true fans like you can't fathom, they are people like us, have families, try to be patient, unselfish, and open-minded
I could listen to 7/8 all day

Lyrics: ooohhh, whoooooaaahoooh, ooohwhoooyooohh, ahhhhh, ooohhhh
+danutd94 Yeah aooarently that's what's taking him so fucking long to write haha.
+Thomas Carmichael It takes him a few fuckin yrs just for one album
+Michael Horta it's been 10 years......HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
*fucking shit*
*fucking shit*
***** This is y he hates his fans
this honestly sounds like one of the greatest instrumentals ive ever heard :D
I love how Tool songs like this transition, they are so moving. The depth and flow to their sound is unlike anything else, it's mesmerising
It's sounding a lot better.
I was at the Tulsa show. Tool played flawlessly and seemed to be in a rather chipper mood. I hope to see the rest of this show posted because it was epic.
The tool sound is still there.
+toolarchive You have set Tool's album release back by 2 years.
You couldn't have been more on point sir
yup lmao
Can't wait to listen to the full version of it on their upcoming album!!!

To really appreciate this, I need to put my headphones on.
love it
My biggest fear is that I'll replay this so many times, that by the time the album actually comes out, I'll be sick of it.
Mark miller can't ever be sick of tool XD
superb
that moment when you realize the new Tool album was worth waiting over 10 years for
He'll yeah❗👏
💯💓🔧
Yeaahhh finally heard some Lamb of God cover. Great ROFL
Let's Hope it's a 4 minute intro four Tools "Close to the Edge."
I feel like this is a newer, darker 'Disposition'
all I want for Christmas is the new album from tool please
If Adam Jones took out the part that sounds like pushit from the salival album that would be nice.
pushit is on ænima
Bryan carter

Anyone know where I can get the audio from this whole performance?
O.O x1.25 speed

Cool. But I'm ready for the whole song.
I guess I don't get it, hasn't this been a breakdown in between other songs for years? How is it a 'new song' called 'descending'? Like isn't is just Schism at the end?
no, stop, go home
no, stop, go home
no, stop, go home

Disculpa mi español pero suena como una intro a una nueva canción, o estoy equivocado ?
Exacto, una intro a una nueva canción de mas de 12 minutos.

pushit sir your describing pushit
Jose Gonzalez
It is a total cluster fucker. Who is to say either of us is wrong?? I love Pushit. Where is Pushit?
*****
LOL

danutd94
Learn how to "Reply" to specific people on here. Tool tool. lol
I thought it was called Ascending/Descending - a working title describing the movement in the music.
That's Actually A Great Title For Part 2 Of Descending Man. Descending Will Be Part One And Ascending Will Be Part 2 Imagine That!
You are 3 years to early
Your turn Gabin
you missed the beginning, adam played more than ever before, few riffs
Seems like Justin gives Danny a disapproval at the 2:20 mark but otherwise awesome
I must say I love this song, but so far the only kick-ass version I've heard was the Arizona show on Halloween......that was tight
I like them, but my main beef with this sound is that it's a lot like the Tool I've heard a million times. You can cut and paste this breakdown into a lot of Tool songs. I thought they would come up with something new on their next album. and ya know "evolve"
it's a 5 minute teaser dude, I'd hold off judgment on their musical evolution until the album's out.
Adam said that this teaser deliberately cuts out cool stuff from the full version of the song. I expect that's the evolution you're looking for.
Country Of Origin please? "...Middle English"
Descending? ...Can I have it in a sentence please?
Yes...as in, "Tool's New Material capability is descending."
because obviously you can judge their writing abilities based on a 5 minute teaser of a 15 minute song which is one of 20 they're working on, right?
who the fuck named it desending.
Everybody getting all excited and shit about a fucking intermission track. I am pretty sure they are trolling us with this whole Descending business.
The fact that there's only moaning for vocals hurts me. Otherwise solid 9.3/10
Maynard has stated many times that he doesn't write lyrics until the music is finished
+The King of all Awesomeness Which is dumb. The album should be written together. Vocals can influence musical ideas the same way music influences the vocals. One of the biggest problems with 10000 Days is how the lyrics sound like an after thought.
the first part sounds too much like Pushit to me
I love the sound of this so much, but I can't help remember the last time a jam was turned into a song and how something that was really cool, like this, became overdrawn, forced, and boring (Wings for Marie the whole thing).
Wings part 1 is overdrawn I like part 2 more
hmm...
filler
they are saving main riffs for release
+James Gronen (Gronan the Barb) lmao you tool fans are hilarious. Okay Justin. I bet you're Justin. Since you never talk and no one talks about you, we'll just assume you're the bassist.

James Gronen
Oh that's cool and he told you about what they're playing in concert and what they're releasing in the future?
+Viewing Account and showed me, showed us, if your a fan vip events are pretty cool, check it out, change your perspective maybe
