Norm is such a great interviewer, you can really tell that he has a genuine interest for the subject and the interviewee. Great at follow up questions and such. Keep it up Tested!
People like these brothers need to exist more often. I love this work and the fact that they pay homage to/take inspiration from previous legends is fantastic.
I love the analogy Norm drew that each piece is a conversation & they each say something as they pass it back & forth. What a great way to explain collaborative sculpting! In reference to the whole digital feels too uncanny valley issue my solution has been to literally scan my hands & create alpha maps for a custom brushes in Zbrush based on my own hands & fingerprints. So once I'm mostly done with a digital sculpt I can do all the little push, prods, etc. to finalize a piece with a digital representation of my own hands. It's not perfect, but it sorta bridges that gap just a little tiny bit. If I light it properly & throw it into a Keyshot scene with my workspace for traditional sculpting as the background most folks don't even notice the difference until they start looking at the very fine details.
So rue, I love his honest enthusiasm and kindness in these interviews - he is so clearly a fan and that air infuses the entire video in such a cool way.
I love these artists you are showcasing, they are different. They show that art doesn't have to look the usual "pretty" but instead can be extremely cool and different and still look amazing.

amazing interview... to be able to get the insight on how these particular brothers do their art... absolutely phenomenal pieces... this is my 1st time ever seeing these pieces and i am completely blown away... ill definately have to look more into these guys
"...this headdress needs to be more moebius..." gee how i love that sentence... i can totally relate.. that kind of cooperation must be really fulfilling and inspiring.. :)
What a surprise! I love these guys' work! Even got one staring at me right now. Norm, you have to have taken some of those back to SF. I need to see one painted by Frank! Maybe the Ol' Scratch!
Not a big fan of the "unfinished look" style. It looks great monochrome or cast in bronze, but when painted, not so much IMO. But still, amazing work and great interview! Thanks Tested!
I just smoked some Cookies and Creme by Exoticgenetics and it made this interview amazing; I picked up minute details and had insights into what they were saying. Cannabis really increases brain power
Norm finding his place, Good JOB dude!.... Next COMICON, Adam and Frank Ipolitto, Find some Emaciated actor or stunt person.... ALIEN costume, True to the original Giger art. Kari Byrum, guest appearance as Ripley??? (Don't know if she gives a sh!t, but it would be great).... Make THAT happen!!

One of the best sculptures I've seen, inspired but some of the best ever, yet original. Totally love it.
I like his enthusiasm ! Good people make for good interviews !
yes, he is really crazy about sculpting !!!

he's gotten better over the years
But he met a match in the interviewee here.
What a wonderfully passionate interview. Incredible sculptures and it was lovely to hear credit given to the molders as well.
Awesome! I love the Shiflett brothers work!
Some really impressive sculptors! Love their work!
Bronze ones are stunning and perhaps more suited for the type of sculpting.

Found these guys randomly on twitter months ago and have been a fan ever since.
We loved interviewing these guys on our Podcast. Top blokes with oodles of talent!!
Would love to see Norm and Frank paint one of their kits!

This guy had me at Rodin. Amazing talent.
Great questions and great answers, really enjoyed this interview. Kudos Norm and Mr. Shiflett.
I really like this guy, he's talented but he still deeply respect his inspirations and collaborators.
Beautiful creations. I put my sculptures on my van. I really admire these brothers and their Frazetta-esque style.

Norm, you are an excellent interviewer. Keep up the good work.
Cool interview. I met the Shifletts a few years ago - very nice guys.
I NEED TO BUY SOME OF THESE FROM THE WEBSITE! THEY LOOK AWESOME!
Cool guy, cool interview, nice work Norm.
Thank you. Never would have access to these types images being that I've never been to a convention.
What a surprise! I love these guys' work! Even got one staring at me right now.

Beautiful work, a little Francisco deGoya in there too?

Would love to see these guys make a line of D&D minis!
Norm is a really good interviewer.
talent talent talent
great interview. Do the sculptures start as drawings? I wish he had asked
By the way he was explaining it I don't think so. They seem to grow as they make them rather than trying to make it fit a pre designed idea.
wonderful
tested.....please show more product footage when doing interviews.
more dope statues :D
The reverb filter really bugs me.
More frank pls!
