The Riverside County bail amount for all misdemeanors punishable by a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail is $5000. Aside from that bail schedule only two other factors may be considered in setting a bail amount. i.e.,. will the defendant appear in court and does the defendant pose a risk to themself or others? I'd guess the judge decided the feds will charge the defendant with federal crimes- false passports come to mind- they just stuck with the bail schedule.

If you got caught with a large bag of weed and there's a scale or empty bags somewhere in the car they could charge you with intent to distribute but there's no "intent to assasinate" law for getting caught entering the perimeter of a political rally with guns and fake IDs. Attempted murder doesn't hold up either. They had some similar issues with the guy outside the golf course in Florida but in that case there was more for the state to prosecute with. As justified as your frustration may be, this isn't the police department's fault.

Are these reporters questions just fishing for controversy or am I just not hearing there questions the right way? I get the position of people believing in sovereignty rights. That's including the right to own a gun without registering and also the right to drive without a DL and registration.
