To be a proper Faraday cage for reasonable use cases, you want continuous conductor contact with gaps no greater than 1/10th the wavelengths of interest. 2.4Ghz wavelength is 12.5cm, which makes 1/10th that wavelength 1.25cm. This is easily achievable in a case this size if the basic physics are understood by the designer.
About to get a new phone, was considering just leaving all the old stuff on this one and starting over with strictly using a VPN and trying to limit redicules EULAs and tracking. When you get ads about things you've only mentioned in conversation popping up on ur phone, it's a bit strange.
Just a heads-up. If you have a note series phone or any 6"+ screen phone the concave lid won't secure with velcro. It will fit on the base but if you are wanting to mount to a plate carrier like I did you'll have to make a modification. It's an ok product. The hinge is so-so, and the tension is either too tight or too loose. Hopefully it will break-in.
@@TheRiskyDingo I added velcro to a flat back phone case and glued a 1/4 inch block of wood to elevate it off the concave plastic. Took about 5 minutes to solve the problem. The other issue I found is that if you are using it as a phone case on a plate carrier you end up hitting your AR mags just below it when you open it. Hopefully someday they make a smaller less bulky version.
Instagram has been taking this data for years, the Terms are not new by any means, you only just took the time to read it now. Instagram is also not the only app that "steals" and sells your data either; pretty much every single app and website you visit does this, both on a cell phone and computer and it only gets more so over time as more things become integrated with technology. It's nearly impossible to avoid this fact of modern life, unless you actually go fully off the grid and live self sustaining without any devices, you are always going to be on the grid in some form, whether you like it or not.
Neat, I'm curious why they didn't make it able to block wifi..... Most apps that use GPS on your phone are aided by Wi-Fi signal to get a more accurate location.
An even more benign way and A way I know some of my friends look at it is. Well it needs access to my photos to upload old photos. It needs access to my camera to be able to upload new photos and take photos in the app. It needs access to my location and near by devices to geotag photos to give you a better instagram experience It needs the microphone to add audio to videos And so on with everything they need from you
I really wish they would've gone the extra mile and made it full proof to stop ALL interference, no matter the bandwidth or type. Thanks for the info Ivan.
You can turn off access to your camera and mic via the settings on your phone in app permissions. Not saying that fully does shut off access but in today's world you can't avoid this stuff as long as you use a phone or computer
Faraday cages don’t really work. Unless you can remove your battery your phone is never truly off (iPhones). Don’t forget your smart TV’s are also a vulnerability.
The solution to the problem of a rattlesnake in your back yard is to kill the snake - not to drop a bucket over it. Given the backdoors, the hacks and the people involved... I would not assume that bucket provides any real protection KB.
You need a "De-Googled" phone. Even then, there is a Phone-Home chip on the PCB, so you can mostly regain your privacy, but not fully. It's complicated but Google tracks you across platforms as well, so you will need to fully de-associate with any old devices / networks / and email addresses otherwise they will be able to track you even on a de-googled device. Also, you will need to be cautious with how you use the phone, as google can also identify you by the people you contact and the frequency of that contact. With Alexa and other desktop assistant devices being converted to free public wifi, it'll be even easier to track you and reverse engineer your ID. Do you feel the walls closing in yet? ua-cam.com/video/VIJEUqgODO4/v-deo.html
Or put your cell in airplane mode and save some money on a case that may or may not block everything. And why the hell would you mount this to your plate carrier? That’s kinda dumb.
Either turn off phone or put in Airplane Mode to keep phone from searching for tower and draining battery rapidly and put it in an empty potato chip bag or piece of foil, problem solved😎

I'll build a true Faraday cage out of copper sheet & be done with this baloney
I just buy a $25 mission darkness

Pretty much everything is 2.4GHz, if it doesn't fully block that seems kind of pointless.
Yes, it is pointless. Shilling for money.
It's application is more effective for use abroad and unless you have a better option it may be the best option.

That product exists. It’s called Mission darkness.
I've been debating one of these for a while and the way things are going it might be smart.

Mission darkness eliminates all of the frequencies, including Bluetooth
This sounds like a great reason not to reply to my wifes texts when Im fishing....
Honey, the phone was in the vault. Sorry. I didnt see your text.
Does it fit S23 Ultra? I couldn't find any info on that
Test and validate plz!

Great company, their battery storage is exceptional. Might give this a better look and see how it does with the 5g networks.
5G typically runs in the GHz range, for optimal data transmission, the trade off being that it can't penetrate walls for shit.

Kind of no point if the entire cell infrastructure is fried. What's worse, an EMP or a perfectly protected phone that is useless. Lol

Tin foil works just as well
Sarah Connor used potato chip bags to hide from skynet.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think this is a true faraday cage in the sense that it would protect from an EMP blast.
