- In this video we are going to show you how to connect an IKEA Trådfri GU10 smart bulb to a Philips Hue Bridge. This works due to the Zigbee protocol and we will show you how to do this step by step. We are also going to show you how to link the Philips Hue devices to the Google Home app and get access to the voice command through the Google Assistant.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Thank you, using the philips app all I had to do was the on/off 6 times and it picked it my ikea bulbs up instantly
Thank you! Your instructions saved me! I was told by the person I bought my hue from, that IKEA lamps would work, but getting home I couldn’t get hue to recognize them. I did not know of the flashing the lights trick but it worked like a charm when I tried it. 👍
...though it took me quite a few more times than six. Maybe because I had 5 at the time in a five pronged armature. It got 3 of them the first time, and I had to search again three times before it had found the remaining two. Next time I will connect them one at the time like you did.

Yeah, try one at the time next time as I think you will get much better results when trying ti connect the bulps.
We will also very soon upload an alternative method, "Touchlink Method" and this method always works when this method doesn't.
It works fine it toke a couple of trys but it did work after like 3 min keep it up guys 😃🤙🏻

Works fine thank 201911 with the last hue bridge firmware.
But range is too smaller from hue light also zig bee repeater is not assured by ikea light.

I notice UA-cam videos show them using a portable bulb chord to bring it near the hue bridge. Mine are about 10 ft away. Will I be able to connect? Thought to know before buying.

No unfortunately, Hue Sync only works with Philips Hue bulbs.

Use the Touchlink method instead. Download Hue Essentials från Play Store and press search for lights in the app and when the bulb pulses, press Touchlink.
The bulb should be synced, we'll upload a tutorial of this process in the near futute.

Do they work with Hue bridge V1?
I really don't know. You can always try to follow this tutorial and if doesn't work then return the bulb to IKEA.
Where did you buy that seat at 1:15 that you put your bridge into?
We bought from a second hand store in Sweden called blocket.se so I don't know where you can buy it elsewhere.

Can you change the colour temperature?
It depends on what Trådfri bulb/spotlight you are buying. The cheapest alternatives are usually not.

No, we didn't use any Trådfri Hub. The reason for using the Hue hub is because Philips offers better functionality for smart bulbs and at the same time skip the Trådfri Hub.
The Trådfri Hub requires you to connect remotes to every bulb but some users has bypassed that from what I've heard.
@@HumanSuten that's why I asked. All the videos I've seen first pair the tradfri bulb to tradfri hub, then once paired, unpair and then pair to hue. I'm sure there's a reason for it like firmware update. I'm sure hue will not firmware update tradfri bulbs on the hue hub. Msybe you could check and do a video on it? Thanks
@@mydeals57 I've been reading up on the Hue/Trådfri systems lately (that's how I found this video), and there seem to be at least two good reasons to have the Trådfri hub. 1: The lack of firmware updates. 2: The mesh functionality of the Trådfri bulbs not working when using other hubs, so you will not have that feature that you might want, depending on your setup. I have a big house so might need the mesh for everything to be able to connect properly.
I would rather just have the Hue hub, so I can use both Hue and Trådfri bulbs, but seems like I might have to get both :-(
Does the light connect with hue sync box?
No, unfortunately third-party bulbs doesn't work with Hue Sync.

Funkade, tack :) Sök på "How to reset a TRÅDFRI light bulb" här på youtube för att reseta lampan, det där med att tända och släcka 6 gånger. De beskriver att ni ska börja med lampan tänd, tänd och släck 6 gånger, sedan tänd igen. Då börjar den blinka och resetar. Sedan kunde jag koppla lampan med min philips hue bridge.

We don't have any experience using those lights but I would assume that the Touchlink Method would work the same with those lights. I'm not sure though. We could perhaps do a video on it in the coming months.
@@HumanSuten your TRÅDFRI DRIVER method worked fine, now i have a free philips hue plug, and its dimmeable!!! I hope you can find a way to the Jormlien. I tried everything from your tutorials. (Jormlien has a similar driver like tradfri, but maybe is not smart enough.)
I think you should look into FLOALT from IKEA, those look exactly like JORMLIEN and should be able to connect to the Philips Hue Bridge.

Precis, det är vad vi demonstrerar i denna video. Du behöver ingen Trådfri Gateway, endast Philips Hue Bridge. Du kan koppla ihop samtliga lampor från IKEAs Trådfri sortiment, även Trådfri Drivaren med Philips Hue Bridge.
@@HumanSuten Kan jag fortfarande använda en av Ikeas tillhörande fjärrkontroller till lamporna eller tappar man den funktionen? Planen är att koppla upp allt till "Homeyn" som är beställd.
Det går men det är en mer komplicerad metod. Jag skulle rekommendera att du använder dig istället av Philips Hue Dimmer Switch för full funktionalitet. Trådfri kontrollerna kommer paras ihop direkt med lampan och således inte synas i Hue Bryggan. Du har mycket mer funktionalitet med Philips Hue Dimmer Switch som du kan ställa in scener och massa andra kommandon på knapparna.

I do have the IKEA Trådfri plugs into the Hue hub as well. So that info is wrong that it do not work. Thanks otherwise.
