I miss Florida fishing. Brings back so many memories from my childhood in the 70s.
I'm pretty sure I saw you out by the Old Bahia Honda Bridge this morning
Man! A few trips down the keys, Elias has already become a certified mutton slayer. Can’t imagine what a more trips down would do🔥❤️
Just a little luck and a confident jig!
Love your videos, and really look forward to your Keys videos. My family moved to the Keys in 89, my Dad was a professional fisherman and I've probably visited there 30+ times and fished just about everywhere around Islamorada catching an amazing variety of species. It's my favorite place in the world and watching your videos bring back so many wonderful memories. My parents have passed and I haven't been down in a couple years.
Crazy stuff, Elias! That bull shark had me spooked...and sounded like he spooked you too! Great vid, man!
That shark kind of took the wind out of sails. Sharks are terrifying on a katak
I think the snapper you caught at 18:18 is a lane/yellowtail hybrid. Theres no snapper in Florida that looks like that…might be ultra rare
Man it was a bit wider bodied and had a smaller tail. I couldn’t figure it out either.
pretty neat. Never have seen any yellowtail/lane hybrids. Fish the keys a bunch, have seen my share of lane/mangrove and mutton/mangrove hybrids however.
I'm thinking it could've been a yellowtail/mutton hybrid.
Because of the size
Yeah that was a weird fish. Couldve submitted to fwc biologists
@GODSWORD5
Well, it was probably lip-smackin' tasty, anyway ...
A 30 foot Robalo with twin 300’s would be my answer to the bull sharks!!
Love the careful release on the grouper. Now that’s true conservative sportsmanship. Cold in Brunswick county tonight. Have fun and be safe!
Can't but love your new PA OldTowne
It's not a 7 mile bridge fishing video without a shark encounter. Aliex got his kayak motor bent and Fishaholic got the side of his kayak slapped. That place is heaven on earth!
OMG, that was epic. A lot of casting and a lot of fish. I am the king of run and gun! My gf beats me up, we were catching fish there why did we leave? To funny, I like to mix it up and get variety.
I REALLY appreciate your videos from Marathon. I make a trip once every couple year's and watching that 3hr no eddit as well as this one teaches me ALOT about where and how. Have kayak and inflatable boat i plan to use in May of 25. Thanks a bunch !
Just booked a trip to the Key's lol these video's are killing me!!
Thanks for the Video! Love the Keys.
Honestly, one of my favorite places to ever fish,
I was down there right before Thanksgiving. We fished the bridge and did not do well. Looks like we should have ventured away from the bridge a little. I’ve enjoyed all the keys videos. Keep up the good work.
Much better angle, and no lung panting huff. 😂 Always a great adventure
Definitely liked the camera angles sir. And thanks for making the chilly winter delaware nights in the gym come alive with florida fish :)
Very nice Mangrove and Mutton, amigo !
Nice. That big yellowtail is what we call a Flag
Bro another epic fishing day!! Love it and sharing the fishing equipment! Got my zoom baits and hook ordered and shipped!! Can't wait to test them!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Like the camera angle. Always good to see a little variety of shots.
GREETINGS from ENGLAND. another great video, we watch all your videos. Thanks happy kayaking too
Just got back from my first trip to the keys. Got to fish out in the gulf on a charter and fished the canal behind the house we were renting. Caught some nice snapper and mackerel and a nice sheepshead. Kept enough for 2 meals. It’s amazing how many places there are to fish down there. We stayed in Marathon and it’s nice recognizing the area you are fishing. Nice video!
My PB Mangrove was 23" it was a monster.
Great video. I’m a pedal kayak bass fisherman from CT but will be moving to the keys in a few months. Really looks like a fisherman‘s paradise. I appreciate the detailed description of what you’re using and how you’re using your tackle. Love it!
Bill P.
When I watch your videos I’m always waiting to see a shark right when your landing the fish
The different camera angle is good. Appreciate you bringing us along.
Definitely a lane yellowtail hybrid. Extremely rare fish, maybe the second or third I have ever heard of!
DUDE… that was awesome!! I got to get down to the keys and fish this year!!
Great video, love the mixture of fish you caught.
Bull sharks are a consistent critter down here. The Keys are definitely full of them. It becomes a bit unnerving when you see a fish close to the same size of your kayak. I even get nervous when the dolphins get curious and come close the yak.
Great adventure, thanks for bringing us along.
Cheers.
Man, even your bycatch fish are awesome!! 😂 Great video!
Using lures is the most exciting way to catch fish! Personally I prefer top water fures such as R, but I will always have with me some jigs and large spoons. Theres nothing like going off shore with some chum and trying to see what hits the top water lures
Do you use popper or walk the dog style? What hits them offshore? I wouldn’t have thought to use topwaters when you’re chumming offshore
Thanks for another great video, getting my fishing license Saturday! Camera angle is okay. I like your other shots better, you and your wife do an excellent job with the editing!
On 10th street in key colony Beach last year we harvested a 82" bull shark and it wasn't easy 😂
Wow never seen one of those hybrid snappers before nice catch !
Those needle nose sure do come in handy
Water conditions were looking nice out there for you! Nice work! 🤙🦀🌴
Moving back to the Keys next fall I can’t wait, yellowtails every day like the old days.
This has my so siked to tow my new Old Town down to the keys next winter!!
Love your videos!
Thanks for putting content out there!
✨ 🙏🏻 ✨
Nice Job
Have big sack of your plastics, down on navy base on main islands, soon as clears up we will be using them!.
Nice video!
Grouper will love em!
bull sharks - reminiscent of burt reynolds getting kicked out of a 40 story window - this year was a bit more controlled and sedate, some of it may be ptsd lol but very deserved. lots of fish, great variety - the spot lock and motor and fish painter really helps you out. #bela lugosi #snapper grand slam
Very enjoyable! Can't wait to get there in February!
Still jealous and envious and the camera angle is awesome. Tight lines!
I love your keys content. Thank you.
Camera angle was great. I took a screen shot of that snapper and sent to my cousin who lives in South Florida. He said same thing as another comment…looked like a hybrid.
Thanks Elias
Awesome outing Elias, great haul!
Uhm- hmmm, Elias. Your catching the Florida fishing bug. You'll move here eventually. 😅😊❤ nice video, as always. Be safe guy.
Enjoyed this video. Good camera work. I'm always amazed at the variety down there. Thank you.
Camera footage is Excellent
Nice Video as usual Elias.
Nathan's Southern Salt Hoodwink in Cajun Pepper is awesome. Like putting a Paddletail and a Jerkshad in a blender. So too is the newer Payload color. Great here in FL for Reds, Snook and Trout.
New angle is good!
Excellent video as usual sir! The different angles are great.
Damn Im feeling proud of the mangrove snapper i caught at Dry Tortugas June 2021, just a tad larger. Brought some rented fishing kayaks with me. When are you going to a Dry Tortugas fishing trip visit!? Your the best Elias!
Great stuff and nice fish. You went a long time without having to pay the tax man in the grey suit
You are right! It’s been a while.
Another very enjoyable video, Elias. Great variety, and no shame for fishing predominantly with lures, as is my preference. I figure if I can fool em with fakes, I'm sharpening my skills, and it certainly elevates the excitement from dunking to hunting. Nothing wrong with bait, it's just not my preference. Tight lines!
Come fish Tampa Bay 😂 you can get 18 to 20 inch mangrove snapper inshore 🤙not all the time but 15 and 16 inchers are pretty common
Well that was exciting.
Love your videos big time heading down in February we fish the bridges 7 mile etc not brave enough for kayaking keep it up brother
I tow my bay boat down to Marathon from Wilmington every Spring, just to catch sharks and tarpon. With the size sharks I have caught at the bridge, I will stick with the bay boat! lol
NICE!! I need to fly down for some snappers.
I've been out on the wrecks off of marathon in 200' of water and sharked!!! Darn the tax man
You're hammering fish with artificial Elias, that isn't "inferior". In my (little in comparison to yours) experience, it's much easier to catch fish with live bait than artificial. With a lure it takes some skill, you have to trick the fish 🫡. You're definitely my favorite fishing goobtuber and I always learn something from your videos, keep it up 🤟
You got lucky, when I fished long key bridge in November I was sharked 15 times in one day 😢
That's bad - I hear its worse that time of year.
@EliasVFishing It's crazy in November but that's also because there's so many other species for them to feed on
Try cooking the yellow Jack's to medium or mid rare. Still delicious
You should try SW Fla . We are catching 22”-24” on the regular of mangrove snapper right now. Here in Sanibel/Captiva the bite is on fire! I dont know if you have ever fished this area but its just as good as the Keys.😎
You should take a bang stick with you, dangle a jack in one hand then pop out goes the lights with the other, fun!
Seems like when you get near structure , sharks just prefer it but also smaller fish prefer it , if you get away from structure but find a larger bit of coral , same outcome , seems the sweet spot is deeper channels with some coral but not loaded.
Yeah any heavy concentrations of fish seem to increase the chances of a shark encounter.
I wish I could win a kayak like the one that you are using in your video
Nice!
May be an ignorant question but do you have any tips for time of year and techniques for fishing for sheepshead around the bridge?
Love your videos! Great job. Happy that you’re enjoying the Keys - fishing paradise. What was that mystery snapper that looked like a yellowtail it with a different tail?
Some sort of yellowtail hybrid.
More catch n cooks
Have you tried the hoodwinks in NC yet?
Not yet really. I am sure reds will crush them.
@@EliasVFishing I know Nate crushes fish with them but it’s his lure and UA-cam so of course he does hahahaha
Those jacks that you We’re catching are called Bar Jacks they are delicious, we eat them in the Bahamas.
They look similar, but the ones he’s catching are yellow jacks, closely related, but more of yellow color than bar jacks, both are common in the Bahamas.
Sick hoodie.
Elias, great camera angles. I enjoy the multiple angles and do it in my own videos ShaunDiggityFishing.
Can I ask what program(s) you’re using to edit? I really enjoy your no frills type of editing. No music, no dramatic B reel stuff. Just fishing.
Final Cut pro
Would like to make it down one day to fish that bridge. I wouldn’t reach down in the water to retrieve fish in that area. With all them sharks. 🦈 I remember a video with fishaholic he had a massive bull shark swipe at his fish and nearly turned him over!
Nice video! Are you gonna fish for sharks any time soon?
Ehhh they are way too difficult to handle on a kayak and it gets lot of people upset if I leave hooks in em.
Awesome video. Do you trailer your kayak.
Tailgate
I disagree, there's nothing wrong with your choice of lure or your technique. Those are quality Florida keys inshore fish!
Love your videos. What kind of landing net do you have?
custom made
Nice snapper slam! 👍Tell us which one is tastiest.
I like the Mutton the best 👍
Looking at the charts, the area where you had such great success appears featureless. Did you pick it for it's properties, or just go prospecting?
Prospecting away from sharks basically
As you know I have been watching you for a long time and it is great to hear someone who pronounces the t's in mutton. When I hear the snowflakes say mu-in I simply turn off the video and wait for another video shot in another location.
Before his knee surgery, my father-in-law used to kayak fish the mangroves down in Florida. His biggest complaint was getting harassed by bull sharks bigger than his kayak.
It’s wild I bumped into a couple that were getting taxed in just 6 feet of water fishing shrimp for grunts and small snapper last year. They truly are everywhere at times.
Looks good, you miss J-bay?
sometimes - that's a tough place!!
Which reel do you find has the most cranking power between your Vanford and the Penn? Shimano is soo much lighter than Penn, but are they as strong?
I like your question, I have a 4k Spheros SW Inshore Spinning Reel, getting rid of it. No cranking power, useless.
Could the mystery snapper have been an especially yellow dog snapper?
Elias, I don't know if you will answer my question, but are you a fishing guide on a boat?
Nope
Are you missing the spot lock on the new kayak?
not at all. i use that feature mostly for bait fishing honestly
Hey I like your Fish Bag! Where can I purchase one at?
What’s that lure at 10:44?
Gonna need a bigger boat!
Did you see any other kayak anglers?
Lots of boats
How are there no boats ripping through?
There’s some boats, but it’s a bit out of the way for main channel traffic
What's the sauce you are squeezing on them lures?
procure
I would never call being proficient with a jig and a plastic inferior to any other method i.e. fishing with live bait. Let’s face it, live or dead baits can be a giant PITA sometimes.
