Didn't like Garrett mentioning only the Beatles and Frank Sinatra when she decided to take Tootie to see him. The Beatles crazy female fans were mirror images of Elvis' out of control female fans. Sinatra's female fanbase was too conform compared to not just The Beatles, but also Elvis Presley. Through Google AI, I have also read that Sinatra would hire some girls to scream before hundreds more joined in, with his rioting somehow being limiting to the Paramount Theater. I am reading that it was in fact the King of Rock and Roll who revolutionized the legitimate screaming female fan. Elvis did not need just a venue like the Paramount Theater to cause concert hysteria.
On the show Good Times, Kim Fields's mother, Chip Fields (who also played Tootie's mother) played the abusive mother to Jermaine's sister, Janet Jackson. The Fields interacted with the Jacksons a lot back in the day.
Screw the Facts of Life for this episode. It was in fact Elvis Presley who revolutionized the screaming female fanbase culture which they were pitting Tootie as being a part of. Sinatra was limited to The Paramount Theater when it came to having riot fan girls, and would pay some girls to scream in order to get more to join in, and The Beatles came after Elvis. Garrett mentioning The Beatles and Frank Sinatra and not Elvis Presley was really cheesy, illogical and was perhaps put in to hype Norman Lear's diluted fantasy about The Beatles being Frank Sinatra's successors, which they most certainly were not. I even read a San Diego Union Tribune from 2003 where he continued promoting that nonsense.
Tootie was being disrespectful and hardheaded when Miss. Garrett told her not to go see Jermaine and she kept pushing it and went anyway and then she saw that Jermaine was busy too busy to deal with her. Sometimes celebrities is not all what you think they are. We think our favorite celebrity is very nice and would be kind to us, but they have lives of their own and not all of them care about their fans. I bet Tootie felt low after that.
Not just that, but she ignored the work that she was supposed to do on a scholarship fundraising party. Jo told her that the girls who would be helped were girls just like her (Jo). This showed how snobby elitism does not take skin color into account.
The episode was very disrespectful to Elvis Presley, who was really the first major example of having the unstable, screaming girl fan following which they were depicting Tootie as being a part of. You do not have Garrett mention only The Beatles and Frank Sinatra-whose riots were even limited to the Paramount Theater- in order to promote a sick illusion which Facts of Life show owner Norman Lear was even promoting in a 2003 San Diego Union-Tribune about The Beatles being successors to Frank Sinatra. Other than a Change of Habit reference on All In The Family, Norman was typical of his generation when it came to being prejudice towards Elvis Presley. One prejudice he had greatly was towards a lot of Southerners, and didn't even want to accept the "fact of life" that Lyndon Johnson was superior to Jackie Kennedy when it came to true civil rights progress.
Janet was actually a teenager like 15.Micheal was busy in the studio preparing his Thriller album.Jermaine actually had a new released album around this time and he was a hot commodity back then.
Uncool to not mention Elvis Presley-who was really the first genuine example of having the screaming girl fanbase they were depicting Tootie as being a part of- when Garrett decided to take Tootie to see Jermaine Jackson. It's like she mentioned Frank Sinatra and The Beatles to promote Norman Lear's sick fantasy about The Beatles being Sinatra's successors; he was still promoting that illusion in a 2003 San Diego Union-Tribune article. It is a "fact of life" that the King of Rock of Roll revolutionized the screaming female fan culture. Sinatra, who is acknowledged to have paid girls to scream in order to get more to join in, was too limited to The Paramount Theater when it came to causing riots.
You know how earlier in the episode Tootie came all to pieces about not getting to go to the concert because she had prior committments Mrs. Garret expected her to stick with? Whoooo boy imagine how it'd be if was a Swiftee!!!
The episode was incredibly disrespectful to Elvis Presley, who really did have the first major screaming fan girl following which they were depicting Tootie as being a part of. They had Garrett mention only The Beatles and Frank Sinatra as examples of this phenomenon; Sinatra didn't even really stir much rioting outside of the Paramount Theater either and is acknoledged to have paid a few girls to scream in order to get the stage set for hundreds more to scream in "monkey see, monkey do" like fashion. Facts of Life owner Norman Lear had this sick illusion that The Beatles were successors to Frank Sinatra, and even promoted the idea in a 2003 San Diego Union-Tribune.
They couldn't afford Michael Jackson. He was at the height of his fame. So, they got his older Brother Jermaine. Not nearly as successful or famous since the Jackson 5.
There is also a "pecking order" in the entertainment world. Superstars feel that they are demoting themselves by appearing on television sitcoms. That is why Molly Ringwald, after she became a member of the "Brat Pack", did not take part in the Season 8 reunion episode when the "lost girls" from Season 1 returned.
Some parts of this episode I didn't like. I didn't like Ms. Garrett mentioning only The Beatles and Frank Sinatra, and excluding Elvis when she made up her mind to take Tootie to see Jermaine. There are too many archived videos which showed Elvis making young girls scream when he performed and shook his pelvis as well. The Beatles basically built on him when it came to female fan appeal. Norman Lear, who owned the show, had this disturbing, weird idea that The Beatles were Frank Sinatra's successors when it came to popular cutlure revolution. Sinatra was not as revolutionary as Elvis Presley though, and even John Lennon conceded before his death something "without Elvis, there would be no Beatles." I'm okay with Garrett mentioning Sinatra, who was indeed a heartthrob of her day, but to mention just The Beatles as her reason for fearing crazy young fan girls when she decided to take Tootie to the Jermaine Jackson concert makes no logical sense and strongly implied that it was written into this episode to help Lear's delusion about The Beatles being Sinatra's heirs. Other than paying homage to Change of Habit on All In The Family, Norman didn't show much respect to the King of Rock and Roll and clearly loathed Elvis far enough like many in his generation.
One of the most saddest episodes. I was too went crazy over my favorites. Yes i met a lot of celebs. It happened to me. Twice.. one is a big time kid rapper and most of all a local musician from my hometown. The disrespect. Omg.. All i can say i Repented in The name of Jesus i Repented. Don't be like tootie yall. Don't be like that character played by Emimem. Don't depend on your favorites. They ppl just like us at the end of the day. They have a life too. These ppl dgaf about their fans. Trust in The Most High ppl. Like right now don't get involved in these elections. Don't Vote.. waste of energy and most of all, its a waste of time. Thanks for sharing.....
I never realized just how much Jermaine looks and sounds like Michael with just a slightly deeper voice.

Not to mention Kim fields and Janet Jackson where school mates and friends on a couple episodes of good times
Jermaine had quite a few BOPS back then and he had a song with Whitney that hit. Yall gotta understand, he had his own thing going.
Yeah, I like a lot of his songs. And he had an amazing voice!
I remember this episode, she freaked out trying to see him. Good acting Kim. Jermaine back in the day career took off like a Rocket!🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

All celebrities are like that. No such thing as sometimes.
I've waste my time being too crazy over my favorites.
Imagine if Tootie was a Swiftee!!

I always wanted to meet Jermaine Jackson probably in my dreams.
There was that brief time when Michael was in some sort of hiatus, Janet was still a little kid, and Germaine was actually the hottest Jackson.
Janet was actually a teenager like 15.Micheal was busy in the studio preparing his Thriller album.Jermaine actually had a new released album around this time and he was a hot commodity back then.
Janet had previously been on Good Times, as Penny, and her abusive mother was played by Tootie's mother, Chip Fields.
During the Facts of life Janet did Different strokes as Willis's girlfriend.
The day Tootie learned celebrities dgaf about fans.
Lol
They don’t owe a million people personal time.
She realized that they care, but also have to protect themselves

I respect Jermaine for being honest with Tootie. It was better hearing it from him than Mrs. Garret or the girls.
Tootie threw a tantrum for this?
HONEY, JERMAINE WAS THE STUFF IN THIS PART OF THE 80s!! AND I DO MEAN HE WAS THE HOTTEST THING GOING!!!
As hot as he was back then, I still don't remember girls going as crazy as Tootie did over him. Now Michael on the other hand...@@araka17
@@araka17till michael came back with thriller and bad then they forgot about that nigga🤣
I've no doubt a hardcore Swiftee would've been even more so.

Kim Fields is close friends with Janet and the rest of the Jackson's in real life!!
Classic!!
Jesus is king

Yeah, Let Me Tickle Your Fancy was out at the time, but he wasn't touring in real life.@phillydisco
Lol 😂

Do you know Jermaine Jackson from the Jackson 5
No, but I’ve talked to Marlon’s son before and he’s so nice :)
He look like he about to hate on Michael
Jermaine is a horrible actor.
That's because he's not an actor, period. They wanted Michael. He said no. So they got Jermaine.
