    Jack, if that's how things turn out when you don't know what you're doing, I'd love to see how they turn out when you do. I'm in awe. Great job, Jack .👍

    That was just incredibly impressive for someone doing that kind of DIY for the first time. When Jack said: "Wish me luck" I actually held my breath, crossed my fingers and wished him good luck. Amazingly impressive. Well done!

    Crazy!!! That tile is not that old ... it's a newer style, so when they put it down on that sponge of a floor, they knew what they were doing!!! I'm glad you could fix it .... but that was a dirty trick to play on a new owner!!!!

    So did you figure out what the problem was that made the floor all wet and not drying up? It seems like you think it has to do with water coming up from underneath (because of the plastic film). But since you now made it totally impossible for any water to drain out if it ever gets in underneath that plywood you really have to make sure no water could ever get in there, or it will rot again pretty quickly. So you probably need some sort of membrane on top of the plywood that wraps around downwards outside of that green plastic lining. Anyways, good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing the second part to this floor solution.

      Honestly, my way of sorting that out would probably have been as much PIR insulation as I could possibly fit, followed by some kind of cement board. Quite a lot of the water was probably condensation. Steamy bathroom air and a cold tile floor don't go well.

    Thank you for posting this video. My husband and I are currently dealing with this in the home. The entire floor collapsed where the toilet is at- He went downstairs and got a jack that holds up in tons of weight. But ultimately I believe the safest way to do this is through the top like you did. We are on a tight deadline at the moment though since Im due to give birth at any day and this is our only toilet. Cant step there or its a hazard

    Omg, You’re so lucky you got to that before toxic black mold started growing. We had to have a hazmat team in when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter (child 5 out of 7). It took 3 days, and having to walk myself and kids out to the rented Porta Potty in the middle of the night drove the kid’s dad crazy.

    These faults are in HALF the houses in the UK. I spent 8 years over there and the UK has housing standards you expect to see in ex Soviet countries.

    Your floors need to be torah and put wonder board or concrete board down something that won't rot and then silicone the corners make sure it's waterproof....🍻🍻

  • @Mi4H786
    @Mi4H786 Місяць тому +1

    Floor tiles are useless because water can seep through the damaged/missing grout causing subfloors and joists to rot. I don't know how long you had these bathroom floor tiles till ripping them out but I think vinyl sheet flooring may last longer you never know.

    I wonder why you didnt pour cement, since it seems like an area prone to wetness and wood rot.

  • @anders____

    Have you put any thought into why the subfloor was all wet? Is it just damp from underneath or is something else in the bathroom leaking?

    • @sparrowdudu
      @sparrowdudu Рік тому +2

      Yes. Good point. Please find the source of the water which is causing the damp issue.
