Mac 25 is matured for 25 years in a sherry cask, not finished. I have never had the Mac 25, priced out of my range. For 10% or so of the Mac 25 price, the Glengoyne 25 is at least as good, maybe better by reading several comparison reviews of the 2.

One day we went to a local bar. On the shelf Johnnie Walker Blue and McCallan 25. 1977 if memory serves. I was drinking things beyond my palate. Here's what I remember, the JW was so smooth it was almost like nothing. The Macallan had so much more flavor I remember calling it the nectar of the Gods. A joke of course but still. Bottles at the time were 199.99 US. Cheers.
Man...top 10 Scotch Whisky, sorry but this one is not even in my top 1000 list 😂 try some good macallans, as example 10yo full proof 70s giovenetti bottling/some macallans from 40s/50s/60s ect. Nowadays macallans i pass 99%, ok the exceptional casks are very good, or some g&m Cask Strength macs are also good, but thats all in the end...
Regarding the significance of the casks being seasoned in Jerez, Spain... The Macallan have "6 pillars" upon which they are founded - these pillars justify The Macallan's reputation (and price tag) - and two of them are: 1. exceptional oak casks which are the single greatest contribution to the flavours and aromas, take years to create and 2. sherry seasoning in the heart of the 'sherry triangle' (where the wine is produced). It's about an uncompromising commitment to quality. Macallan own a share in their sherry cask supplier because they don't actually produce enough sherry anymore to cope with the current demand for sherry casks! Literally can't give the sherry away! Most other distilleries don't (and can't) have anything like the kind of quality and supply chain control that The Macallan does. Great video, thanks!
How did you get past opening it I couldn't I bought the 18 caramel is what you get if your taste buds are fucked up like mine it still is like no other alcohol smooth
I recently was able to have 2 glasses of Mac 25. It's the best scotch I've ever had and I am going to be chasing the white whale of a cheaper version for probably the rest of my life.
I'm surprised you swallowed right down the hatch. Definitely should try chewing the whisky to spread it all throughout your palate before swallowing. Recommended to swish 1 second per year of the age of the scotch.
I love the M18. Of the 18's I've had, it stands out to me. I even prefer it to the Glenfarclas 25. How would you compare the M25 to the M18? Bevmo near me has one for $2,500 and it's been sitting for at least two months. Is this worth the $2,100 difference?
Macallan is terrible value and not that great anymore. Glendronach 21, Glengoyne 21/25 and Tamdu 18 is a fraction of the price and superior. Macallan is more about marketing than anything else. A lifestyle brand

glengoyne 25 is maybe 70% as good but at 25% of the price. Good dram for sure, but not as good as M25.

Glendronach 21 is better at a fraction of the price. And its 23-25 years old in reality. Plus its 48% vs the wimpy 43% for Macallan 25.
