    Seems like I have seen this video before, re-upload?
    Looks a LOT better, but it could still use a bit bigger tire on the rear yet.
    And reconfigure that exhaust to go up over the engine like the VW dune buggies have.
    P.S. You really need to synch those carbs and do a bit of tuning to that engine.

    I think the sizes are a major improvement, though with where you mostly drive that buggy I'd go with either a knobby or a turf tire. If you ran in mud all the time the V tread tires would be the way to go, but they will wear out quickly on pavement and they're too aggressive for the yard.

    Looks a lot better,.. My personal preference; I'd put same size on front and back. Either put 22inch all around or 20in. But the 22s gonna hook up better, 20in on back maybe be quicker on take off or bottom'end,..
    Those tires really improved the looks & most likely performance as well..

      I run 23s on all 4 corners of my son's 150cc buggy and it has no problems power wise with me in it. With the engine he has he can run anything they have out (30+) if he gets the engine to run right. I'd say at least 25s would be perfect on it.

  • @rednecktractors10
    @rednecktractors10 6 років тому

    That does look a lot better bit I think you need even bigger tires. The stock front tires on my garden tractor are 18s and the rears are 23s. I think you should go with 20s up front and 25-26 in the rear. it'll help with more ground clearance and you can get some super aggressive tires in that size(like 2-3in deep tread aggressive).

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 6 років тому

      Also less mass on the front tires, so bit less effort when turning. Though adding bigger back tires will increase load on the drive train and the engine. I dont know buggys, but for me it seemed that engine had bit hard time on moving this thing, or its just the big cc engine does not rev fast as i am accustomed.

    Great build. Ive watched every one.
    I want to point out that your pilot jet is to lean one at least one carb. The others are fine, but the idle is lean. Unless you are near freezing temp, cold starts should be way easier, and idle should be less finicky.
    Turning up the idle RPM is **not** the answer.
    To test this theory, warm your engine, then install new plugs. Idle the engine for 15 to 20 min. Check plugs. Anything lighter in colour then unsweetene chocolate is doing detonation damage. Slowly, but surely.

    Glad you finally got rid of the lawnmower tires but with the horsepower of that engine you should really look at some 24+ inch sizes for it. Personally I would shop for some 25 inch sizes. Change it out to run honda atv hubs and rims will be easier to find. Most of the time find rims and good take off tires cheap.
    Put some bearclaws or dirt devils on it and you will have to add fenders because they dig instead of just spinning on the top of the ground.

    I want to build myself a buggy similar to your build but( 750-1000cc)
    two-seater with long travel suspension. I'm curious about how much more weight that will add. What would it be like 12-18inches wider to comfortably fit two adults? Maybe more?? IDK🤷‍♂️.. Hopefully I will have it built by next spring. Gotta save more cash first.. The dom(type of steel tube) isn't cheap. Probably $500 just to build/bend out the frame. I found pre-fab kit for a-arms front and independent rear suspension. It has axle drive to each wheel. It looks strong enough for type off-roading I do. But it more expensive compared to build n video. However it's nice, plus all fabricated self. That'd save whole lot. Hopefully it'll come together soon. Curious if I could use old atv a-arms for front, but independent rear suspension will still have to be prefab kit or homemade afro'engineered... So many different ways to build it confuses me a bit..

    Does it accelerate faster or slower? Does it have a higher top end now or a slower one because the engine isn't producing enough torque? I would say if it is better performance, then yes. If not, leave the smaller tires on it.

    I am sure you realize by now that your gearing has changed and your braking as well. And even your C/G has changed meaning it can flip or roll over a lot easier the higher the chassis sits. So while bigger tires are really great for terrain that can utilize them, there are changes to the power band RPMs and braking as well. And it looks like you are getting more plowing from the front end when turning now. IDK.
