He’s always had a great yard but a few months ago he had a very bad cut damage it. It’s been a lot of work to get it back. Now I’m focusing on the front yard over there to get it back up to “normal”
That mower belongs to the owner of that house but it seems to be a really good one. I've been using it while I've been taking care of his yard and no problems so far in our first season with it.
do you recommend bagging or mulching when cutting about 1 or 1.5 in high St. Augustine and can you pleased tell me what model Honda your using, I'm a home owner and and see most of the local gardening services using Honda's but I have no clue which one to get..
So, St. Augustine shouldn't be cut that low. It really needs to be at 2.5" up to 4" because of its growth pattern. Because it does 90% of it's growth with stolons (the strands across the top of the ground) a very low cut could damage the lawn more than you would want. Regarding the bagging or mulching, I prefer to mulch but if my lawn gets too tall, I will bag the clippings because otherwise they will sit on the lawn and possibly cause brown spots by blocking the sun from the living grass. If the grass is still relatively short, I will mulch because the clippings will help feed the microbes which will produce nitrogen for the living grass.... which will save me money over time and provide natural food for the soil. As for the Honda in use on this video, it is my father-in-laws mower. I'm pretty sure its the Honda HRN 166 21" gas mower. I think he got it from Lowes. It does a great job cutting through the tough St. Augustine grass, you will just need to ensure you sharpen your blades twice a year to keep it cutting clean. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Looks really good
Thank you. It's a fun yard to help our with during the growing season.
I need my backyard to look that good.

Same mower I have

Did you bag or mulch! Looks good!
Thank you.
I had to bag it. Taking down that much grass would definitely leave too much sitting on top of the lawn.
