Great work as always John, really nice to see the family coming together. You can see the happiness in your father's expression getting those Chevelles out. Van project is going to be sick!
Corvairs were big in my family growing up, my father had many of them and he included me with his work on them and I was involved in all of it! They are special vehicles and very dependable too! I miss those times with my dad. Carry on john and dad!
Ludwick just has all the cool toys to be had, was all a cab over tease 😂. That new project is beyond cool as beans, love the 110 socket cut into the rear top post, great for going camping .
When your Pop's talked about the DeWalt fresh out of the box and let out that chuckle, I couldn't help but chuckle myself. Typical Dad Moves! That thing was sweet though. As always awesome video John!
The supply of good used classic cars is so small in the present day. The good news is that everything is available as a repop to rebuild these cars. Good luck, I will check your channel again soon.
Everything specific to a 300 Deluxe, rocker molding for one cant believe yours still has them..."Chevelle" emblems on the fender, the "short" eyebrow moldings at the front fender , that center rear panel emblem between the taillights, also special to a 300 and 300 Deluxe is the taillights and taillight bezels and rear bumper as 300 series didnt have reverse lights in the bumper like the malibu and SS did, and last but not least the whole interior if original is 300 Deluxe specific 300 and 300 Deluxe where similar but the Deluxe has white stripes on the door panels and middle centerline of the car on the seats extremely rare interior to find in decent shape
That is great information! Thank you! My father even said “who knew” about the 300 Deluxe, as they weren’t collector cars yet when they came off the road with rotted frames in 1980. So crazy!
@@JohnLudwick proper 300 deluxe are few and far between cause nobody ever put their proper trim back on them I actually restored mine using 7 years of finding NOS parts still need a correct interior for mine though as it was long gone when I bought the car when I was 11, 31 now and I'm still searching
Yea it’s totally sad! Both of those cars had rotted frames in 1980 when he originally put them there, though. So they had come off the road originally. Still sad!
Reminds me of the time that I tried to buy a 67 SS 396 convertible that had been sitting in the owners front yard forever. "No we're going to fix it" I passed it everyday for years. When they were finally ready to sell, unfortunately the car literally broke to pieces.
Too bad you could not save the 69 Malibu, but it was too far gone laying on the ground that long. I still have one that I purchased in 85 that came from Tennessee.
Hey man, been watching you for a while now. I have a 1966 Chevy corvair 500 up for sale in good condition. I live in Sacramento California. I know you have a corvair already and this one I feel you can fix up and make it look how I wanted it to look
My grandfather had a 68 Malibu 4 door that shade of color in mint condition and when it was wet I remember him burning rubber leaving church or get togethers more then once lol to me a 68 Two door SS chevelle is the best looking although a 70 ls6 is my dream car in red with black racing strips and a 4sp
They can still be turned into race cars, just pop the front clips off and cut the rest of the frames away and sell whats left to be put on new chassis.
@@JohnLudwick I feel that man. I grew up near Syracuse NY and left for the Navy in 2010. I sold off a 71 Jeepster before I left. 8 years later I came back from over seas and bought a house near ATL. Soon after my Jeepster came up forsale in NY with the paperwork still in my name. I bought it and brought it to GA and started a TDI swap. Lemme know if you ever want a collab.
Is awesome that they are in that good of condition still. I have to add to... I notice on a lot of these father son vids... the younger is always holding the camera while the older is doing all the work. Lol.
That 68s a rare one as I also have one myself it's a 68 300 Deluxe sport coupe not many made looks like a 6cyl car originally though judging by the fender marker light bezel
I need folks help here my brain does not work right this early in the morning. About 10 or 11 years ago a close customer friend brought a 1970 Chevelle here and 1977 Laguna Malibu. Both of em did have frame rot issues having been driven in their early days in the snow here in the North Eastern USA. He did get some frame and sub frame pieces from an internet company located in Arizona. He claims it was good product fit spot on. I don't know the name of that company cannot remember since I mainly do pickup trucks. I deal with AMD metals recently switched to them totally when me or my customer can afford the pricey prices. The AMD stuff fits really well better than the garbage LMC is selling lately.
Make that truck project with your dad priority 1 Had to use a jeep with a wench to get a 68 Chevelle Malibu out of a 🐖pig pen to the axle in sh* t ! Worth it though did 150 mph not a shake or shimmy .
When you were saying that recoveries go easier with your dad because he has all the tools then you listed them, you missed the most important tool -- experience.
@@JohnLudwick nice. The episode caught my attention due to a similar vehicle I am hoping to buy in spring. One of the local salvage yards (the owner is a family friend) was a cool place to walk through when I was a kid. The owner loves muscle cars and had a pile of them in the yard. My dads 1970 nova came out of there like 30 years ago. A few rows over from dads car (where all the chevelles sat) there was and still is a real deal 1968 chevelle ss396. It’s been sitting in that same spot on top of a 68 nomad all this time. I’m hoping to bring this car home. Sitting on top of another car keeping it out of the mud, it seems to be pretty rust free.
A dude we all hope it's something that you will ever finish,to many unfinished projects,or maybe you just like the ideas they bring you, if not sale to someone that will finish them, looks like you have to many other things to do, just find them and list them ,sale to people looking
I noticed that the front tires were NOT rotating on the 68 chevelle when it was being pulled out with the tractor. Regardless it would help if the car is put in Neutral so the tractor won’t have to pull so hard. I am 73 years old and I was a certified mechanic for over 60 years, so I know what I’m talking about. Thanks
You gotta bag out that van! 🤩 The world would love to see that rollin once again
Yes!!
My first car in the late 70's was a yellow 72 Malibu with a 350 engine. Have lots of good memories of that car!
That’s awesome!
Great work as always John, really nice to see the family coming together. You can see the happiness in your father's expression getting those Chevelles out. Van project is going to be sick!
I really appreciate that man! Thank you! I’m hoping we can finish my cabover sometime soon, and can then start on the van 😂
Really nice to see he he picked up the Greenbrier for you, excited to see more on this. Awesome video John!!!!
Thanks James!
Great save on these cars , look forward to the resto !
The chrome bumpers are in excellent shape.
They really are! We tried to be mindful of them!
I have one of the Chevy emblems at 20:21. Picked it up on ebay years ago and never knew what model it come off of. Awesome!
That’s awesome!

Yea it’s so bizarre 😂
I can’t wait to see when you guys get all the projects done.

Thanks man! And definitely a dad move 😂
So much awesome GM Patina packed in one video! Happy new year, and new goals to achieve!
Happy new year Alex! Thank you!
Cool episode , it's amazing how after 40 years the 68 tire still had air in it.
Still can’t believe it 😂
Yea , the air in that tire would be worth a lot of money.
Love it. So fun. The vans sick. Pops it cool as hell too.
That '68 had a great stance after it came out! 😄
It really did 😂😂

That truck will never be done. Will be dragging more stuff home.
Check out dad with the subtle “Dunkin’” plug 👀😄
Yes 😂
When you have to cut a old car out of the woods you Know its something special! CHEVELLE!! MALIBU !!!

New favorite channel to watch
I really appreciate that!
If there's anyone I'd trust to recover any car, it's your dad. And not only does he have all the tools, but he has the tricks too. - Phil M
He really does! I hope you are well, Phil! And hope to see you again soon man!
Looks like those Chevelle's we're put out to pasture a little too long. They would make great yard art though.
Very cool video. It's kinda sad seeing two Chevelles dead in the woods.
Yea it’s totally sad! Both of those cars had rotted frames in 1980 when he originally put them there, though. So they had come off the road originally. Still sad!

1968 & 1969 models !! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Had a green briar with olds 455 toronado drivetrain. Zero rust.

Chattanooga TN hell yeah me too
There might be a couple usable parts on those cars. I think you and I have similar interests in cars. Always loved those corvair vans. 👍

Absolutely!!
Snatch blocks don't double your power it lessens your resistance by half
The one that isn't falling apart would be cool on a stock car chassis... ideas ideas ideas
OH YES!!
Drag that COE out and get working on it. That thing is cool sweeet

He disassembled it and took it out in pieces 😂 It was far too rotted unfortunately!

So both frames rotted out in like 12 years. And I thought Delaware was bad lol
It’s seriously unbelievable up in NH 😂
the 68 is same color of my brothers 68 malibu he had in 75.just a 327 4 speed car.nothing great.
