    There's something about a space that is specifically designed for fun. This CRT has made a huge difference in that is has taken me back to a time when things were less stressful, and fun was a focus.
    I'll show you my Windows 10 gaming PC (featuring and AMD 5600X and an Nvidia 3060 Ti) and my Windows XP rig. Also... these Boston Acoustics Micro 90 speakers are amazing (sorry LGR, I like them more than the Rolands).

      @@lostintechnology1851 No, it's not just nostalgia. Games back then were objectively better. Of course there were also tons of crappy games, but the good games were better than today's good games.

      @@wilhufftarkin8543 I’m not that old and I still like a lot of modern games but a lot of games now are just inspired by concepts of older games but with better graphics , no one has really made any new original concepts in a long time. No, I mostly run games native on this screen because it looks fine. I have a 27" TV that I do 240p gaming on. It's just the right size so the scanlines are far more apparent than the black lines, and that slight gaussian blur makes the shading look really awesome with the pixel art.

  • @EvanBlax
    @EvanBlax 2 роки тому

    Just a word of warning with that DeLock DP adapter, there are some known issues. Sometimes it'll show black for one frame randomly while it's running (I've only had this happen to me a few times). The other video problem I've encountered is a bit more difficult to explain.
    Sometimes, randomly, like the black frame issue, the adapter will develop what I can only describe as a "digital vertical hold" issue.
    The digital raster coming in on the DisplayPort will start slowly rolling "down" by a few lines. The bottom few lines of the previous frame will now be at the top of the current frame and the image will slowly oscillate up and down. Stopping at each extreme for a moment before slowly oscillating back.
    I think it's important to say this does not effect the monitor at all. The analog luminance and timing is still being sent properly to the monitor. This is happening in the digital space of the adapter before it becomes analog. The monitor still thinks it's getting 1600x1200 at 85Hz or whatever.
    It's very strange. If you're playing a game you might not even notice it's happening. Whenever it happens to me I use HRC (Hotkey Resolution Changer) to pop into a different resolution or refresh rate then pop back into whatever I was using before. Once you reinitialize the video stream it goes back to normal.
    The worst part is it happens randomly and semi-frequently. At least in my experience daily-driving a Sunix DPU3000. Sometime multiple times a day, then maybe not again for a week or two.
    From my own experience this has happened on both the DeLock 87685 and the Sunix DPU3000 as they are the same product. I've never had anything weird like this happen with lower-end adapters. This seems to be something unique to this specific design.
    Having said all that, the DeLock 87685 really is an awesome adapter. You can do a lot with up to 600MHz pixelclock, especially on a current gen RTX card. I'll often kick my Sony FW900 into 2560x1600 at 72Hz just to swing my e-peen at a LAN party. Or the few times I've used my friend's Mitsubishi 2070sb I've done 2560x1920 at 70Hz - which is only 495Mhz pixelclock, but is reaching the 140kHz scan rate of the monitor.
    Custom resolutions are a lot of fun on CRTs. Just know your limits and play within them. Happy gaming!

    • @teksyndicate
      @teksyndicate  2 роки тому

      Cheers & thanks for the info. I may also try the 62967 because I can get it shipped for $35 from Germany... I don't think I'll actually need more than that, but I was having a hard time finding adapters that could handle 1920x1440 without issues. My current one can output but there are a lot of errors. I couldn't find the Sunix in stock anywhere... but, as you said, they are basically the same. Have you tried the Delock 62967? It's slower but should be plenty for me... unless I can ever find my own FW900, lol.

    • @EvanBlax
      @EvanBlax 2 роки тому

      @@teksyndicate The Delock 62967 is pretty good but also won't get you exactly what you want. It's a step above the cheap adapters for sure but it only outputs up to 270MHz pixelclock, so your 1920x1440 would only be at 68Hz rather than the full 80Hz your monitor is capable of.
      The adapter I would recommend is the Plugable USB-C to "VGA" you can find for $25 on Amazon. That little thing is cheaper and outputs a whopping 350MHz (not that they'll tell you that on the product page). Absolutely perfect for your monitor. I use one for my secondary display, which is an IBM P260, same scan rate/refresh rate as yours. 121+1kHz/160Hz. Same as the FW900 too. (spoilers, the FW900 isn't quite the God monitor that everyone makes it out to be).
      This is, of course, all dependant on if your graphics card has a USB-C "VR" video Port. My Gigabyte 2070 does which is why I love this little adapter so much. No need for an extra USB power cable, unlike the Sunix/Delock adapter.
      I just looked it up while writing this comment and have learned that no cards outside of the RTX 20 series have the USB-C video port. A real shame. There goes that recommendation out the window.
      This is the part where I'm no longer going to be much help. After I was satisfied with the Plugable USB-C adapter I kind of stopped "chasing the dragon" so to speak. I don't know if Plugable made a normal DisplayPort version with the same guts. From the little I could infer from the product pages it didn't seem like they did and I never did enough research on other brands to find out if there were others out there.
      Now, you can either start chasing the dragon (don't do this) or you can be mostly satisfied with the the adapter you have, try out the Delock 62967, or just wait for the Delock 87685 to come in the mail. When I bought mine from Germany it took at least 4 months to get to Canada. Maybe it was 6 months. I don't remember.
      I'm sad to say there really aren't many options and I wish I could be more help. Anyway, cheers.
