- Another common saab failure, although it comes in all shapes and sizes, this video will help you pin point whats wrong with yours if yours is running all the time or more frequent than normal.
If yours is not running at all, check fuses 8&35 in UEC, jump the terminals of the vacuum sensor if it runs then bad sensor, if it doesn’t, check for voltage at the connector and follow the wiring if necessary, if voltage is there, check the voltage at the pump and if its there as well then change the pump.
Enjoy the video
I have exactly the same problem on my v6 aero
I had exactly the same problem. Thanks Dude!
Ok so I just replaced this but still get the same buzzing :/ could I have cracked it again? What else could it be?
Also it’s only doing it when I have the ignition in the on position. Where as before it was buzzing even when the car was actually on
Thank you in advance!
Whats the time between each buzz (do not touch the brake pedal) ?
And did u do the test before the repair where u disconnected the Y-pipe and plugged it with ur finger.....etc

Thanks for this video!
Nice video once again I'm glad I became a subscriber, could you tell me best way to clean saab 93 inside valve cover mines covered in thick burnt looking oil?
Do u have a dishwasher 😬
Did u try heavy duty engine degreaser
No dishwasher 😂😂but will try degreaser thanks 🖒
If you mine does that sound stops and than again like 13-15 seconds later..normal
What ID and OD of hoses I'm planning to upgrade to silicone one
Hey im having trouble,
When i test the sensor and pump i get the on and off buzzing. I switched the pump and jb weld the end of the plastic hoses. Same thing. Can the switch keep the pump buzzing? thanks
Also i have the brake pedal sinking to the floor.
I need exact description , did u disconnect the the three hoses and plugged the hose coming from the sensor with ur finger ? When u did that, did the pump keep running or kept ON. & OFF ? Did u feel a strong vacuum at ur finger ?
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY thank you for your response, Yes i used my finger to plug the end as seen at the minute mark in the video. The pump kept on and off. No vacuum felt at all, at least noticable.
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY with everything put together the car does the same thing, when i press down the brake pedal (pedal is soft) it stays buzzing for a bit, then on and off again.
Yareli Martinez, then no vacuum from the T-connection to the pump, reason either the pump has failed, the hose is broken which u have to smoke test it to figure out, or the check valve thats right after the pump has malfunctioned
Hallo, how do you seal it? What is this substance?
GBweld
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY JB Weld?
@@grzegorz74 yes
Mine dont do noises, is normal?
No noise at all means pump broken from running continuously because of vacuum leaks (
Thanks, it was broken.. i replaced it and now work but i still have some leaks i think.. when i put D car push forward (like i break and accelerate same time)
Would this also pull up any abs or traction control lights?
No ..
No, that's probably your ABS control module, common failure point on the Aeros (mine just started doing it this week).
I got a check engine of fuel air mixture on a OBD2 and the only thing that is offputting is a hissing noise from the brake booster vacuum line.
My 93 us making a grinding noise only when the A/C is on. Why?
Check if the car is low on refrigerant, if it is not, then the compressor is in its way out and i don’t suggest to wait until it kills itself because you will end up in need to clean the whole refrigerant circuit and replace multiple parts.
Does it blows or sucks air?mine doesn’t turn off it just keeps going..
It sucks the air, if it keep running and when u disconnect the sensor it stop then u have a vacuum leak
When I disconnect the line coming from the pump to the vacuum sensor it’s blowing air instead of sucking..
So at some point after 10 seconds, you shouldn't hear the vacuum pump at all? Mine stops for a few but then I hear it go on and then off. I checked both plastic lines for holes and still hear the sound. Could the leak be elsewhere?
If the pump is running beyond its normal operation that usually means a leak, but in some cases it could be a bad pump or a bad sensor, if u did the first 4 steps of my method to diagnose (follow the first 2 minutes pf the video) then u should be able to figure out where the leak is, is it before the junction or after the junction in the booster circuit or in the intake circuit, that mean the leak could be anywhere.. but if u use this method u will be able to locate which circuit to look at.
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY thanks for sharing this test method , I did the test and my leak must be in the intake portion of the circuit but not in the plastic tubing. I guess I will have to try a smoke test to see if i can locate any leaks. Occasionally my car shuts off when warming up after starting.
chvydrptop smoke testing is hard for these components..
I suggest you take the Y shaped tube out with the additional Venturi valve that connects to the CCV and the hose that returns to the intake from the Venturi, take them out, test the non-return valves, the Venturi and all the hoses.
A failed non return valve, or Venturi will cause the same effect as vacuum leak.
So my vacuum pump doesn't shut off while testing the circuits. I noticed that the vacuum pressure switch is sucking air at the base. Looks like the switch has a slit by design at the shaft. I assume that either sucks in air or releases extra air like a safety valve?
chvydrptop not at all, its a sealed system, if it sucks air around the switch then something is leaking
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY thank you so much I guess I'll have to get a new pressure switch unless these can be taken apart.
chvydrptop try to jbweld the location of the leak
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY I think I am going to give the weld a try. Btw for reference, I made a thread here and circled the area which was designed into the pressure switch, very odd as to why they would make that hole. www.saabcentral.com/threads/2-8-vacuum-pressure-switch-sucking-air-in-at-base.730135/
Is the whole function of this to make the brake pedal feel more consistent? Is there a problem with just unplugging the pump to disable it completely?
This is the brake assist pump, in certain situations when it is required to run and it doesnt a greater forces are required on the brake pedal to achieve safe stops.
So i dont recommend disabling the pump
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY thanks so much for the response. So when I disconnect the sensor, it continues to run. I assume then I have a short somewhere?
david hewell there is a good chance that the relay attached to the pump body is sticking .
@@TheFlyingMechanicDIY yep. Hit it with a hammer and it stopped. So is there a way to replace the relay in the assembly? Or do you just have to replace the whole thing? Thanks so much by the way!!!!!
The relay used to be sold separately, but i think its not been produced any more, here is the part number if u want to find it, however if u couldn’t just find a used pump and extract the relay from . (12762936)
Anyone else notice the fact that he didn’t bolt in the secondary map
