Thanks for this video. After watching I've noticed I've heard mine running non-stop as well. Just did the test and my break is in the first part of the line - from the brake booster up to that electrical connection. Ordered it, hope it fixes my random idle/misfire too.

I have a UK Vauxhall Vectra VXR with the same engine and had exactly the same problem (all be it the brake cylinder is on the other side) but your troubleshooting ideas really helped 👍 keep it up buddy

Great post. Thank you. Does anyone offer a silicone replacement kit? Jeep XJ had similar issues with similar plastic lines and was simple to upgrade to silicone.
Great video! You are helping me so much to get my Saab back in action! I'm replacing this vac hose, and having trouble accessing the port behind/below the brake fluid tank. Can I remove it to see what i'm doing? or is that not recommended? Using the flathead as per your expert instructions, but so far not getting the vac hose removed. . . help?
Thanks! It is quite difficult to get out but I recall using a long flathead to do so. You can try removing the brake fluid tank, but depending on how you do it, you might need to bleed the brakes after
Awesome post! Might be the issue with my 06 having occasional misses at idle only. I replaced a line in my 08 that was split like that. It would cause a low vacuum issue which can cause idling issues, less performance and worse mileage. Learned something very useful today! Thanks Dude!

Did it end up working? i'm having an issue wherein my 04 93 has been missing real bad at startup but driving perfectly fine afterwards (able to go to full boost for several second with no misfires)
@@GrockleTD On the 04 you have the 2.0 with slightly different vaccuum setup, but still have the brake booster plastic lines that get brittle. The 04 also had the air injection I believe, so I am unfamiliar with what can happen if that is faulty. The good news is that it goes away when warm, so it is just a control issue, not a fatal engine issue, since the bad valves did not start until 06 or 07.

Just subscribed. 1st time coming across anything regarding the B284 motor. Me got 2006 V6 & have various issues so will be getting in touch over various stuff required down the line. When got car thought getting screwed, maybe still am but love the bloody thing now & don't want to part with!? Just bought damaged 2005 linear 2.0T to get interior stuff out, like door lock & window mechs. Appears will need to buy a new expansion tank now that u cut old 1 in 1/2 as like most owners, have that light coming on every time start up! Thanks again. Cheers

Hey man thanks for the help. I ended up diagnosing my leaks with the help of this video. The tube under the coolant reservoir was split at the end fitting, and the y-piece was as also bad. Replaced both and it’s all set now.

Hey, I just received my ECU plate kit from the link you displayed on your channel. It appears to be very good quality!, and, it has “Saab move your mind” etched into it, very cool! Can’t wait to mount it! Maybe I can keep the heat from killing this ECU with it! Thanks again! I’m still looking for that 2008-2011 9-3 XWD 6 speed manual! I’ve missed several deals, due to someone beating me to them! I am not giving up!! Thanks again for the link! Doug

I bought the kit too & am pleased with it. FYI though, my ecu still failed - about 8000 miles after fitting it. Maybe it was damaged during the previous 80k miles without it? Anyway, hopefully my "new" ecu won't already be damaged from the scrap car I pulled it from & it'll last. Just putting this so you know failure is still possible.
Hey, maybe you've had this happen... I've never had a problem with my brakes until today. I ran into Walmart, came out, started driving and noticed I couldn't stop but my pedal felt good as it should, kept pressing to the ground and finally I stopped. Gave it a few pumps before the light turned green and it's working as good as it should, again. My brake fluid is full, as well. Have you ever had this happen... do you know what it could be? I can't find much on the forums. I appreciate it! Thanks!
Tengo un Opel Vectra opc tengo un fallo hace muchos años ,cuando le doi mucha caña me sale fallo de motor y se queda como si tuviera 5 pistones ,lo paró y lo vuelvo a arrancar y va bien ..tú me lo podrías arreglar?
Thanks for this! I was able to find and replace a broken vacuum line following this, but I tried re-running the test again a few days later and now the pump does not run at all, even with a hose unplugged... Possible the sensor has gone bad? Am I missing some stupid simple step that I lucked into the first time?

I performed the test but got an intermitent sound from the pump when closing the second line instead of stopping as it did in your case. I’m going to replace the line you did and the one that goes downwards from that T connection. Helped a lot bro, I was going to invest into some strong smoke machine, and it seems that I didn’t needed it...

Does the vacuum pump kick on when, key on, car off, and you apply brake? Trying to diagnose possible faults with these weak brakes

I don’t have the part number handy but you need to run that test to determine which line is bad. Then you can find the part on esaabparts
I thought I’d heard that noise. Just went out and turned my ignition on twice and there was no vacuum noise at all. Not sure what that means

You guys are so lucky you don't live down here in Australia. Whatever the price of a part is you have to double it (sometimes triple it) for shipping! Ouch.

The vacuum pump doesn’t keep buzzing? That’s a good thing - means you don’t have a leak like I did!
What were your symptoms before fixing this?

Have a 2005 Aero petrol 2.0
hot - hunts for a minute or so then runs fine - no codes - had new plugs , air filter - serviced every six months properly - looking at vacuum lines tomorrow - were changed to silicone
Car not used much does about 15 miles a week

Found problem ! split hose from
air filter to turbo - hunts means doesnt idle properly from cold
Now going to change all hoses with silicone - excellent product from Amazon 6 mm internal

The vacuum blows air? I take the line coming from the pump to the vacuum sensor and that line blows air..
