Oh this is fantastic. That second one especially has me thinking about using alternate woods instead of inlays for 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc fret markers.
Thanks Patrick. I did one similar in this video. ua-cam.com/video/wBf2BlYOSDw/v-deo.html
And now, in addition to box envy, I have fretboard envy 🤣🤣
Thanks Phil. LOL
Michael, you're a genius. They look beautiful.
Thanks Brian. I keep telling my wife that LOL.
Never waste is my moto! Way to go Michael!
Thanks Ron. That's a good word. M~
Absolutely lovely designs on those hybrid compound fretboards.
Thanks, Glad you like them! 😎
I enjoy watching your craftsmanship on building your guitars
Thanks Wayne. M~
Contagious optimism. Smokin' a lot of cigars I suppose :-)
Thanks Teddy. I don't smoke em, I just like to play with the box. M~
Michael. I know I say you are awesome a lot but I hope you know that every CBG that I have made was made with your inspiration, knowledge and humor. Im up to 60 CBG's made and have you to thank. I love watching your videos. Im retired and having the time of my life comming up with different ways to make guitars. Stay well and keep the videos coming!
Thank you, Don. I appreciate that. Congrats on #60. Keep a building. M~
Fretboard looks great!
Thank you Tom. M~
Nice job, Michael! I enjoy watching.

Nice designs. it got me thinking about the next fretboard. yep, you made me think😆
Thanks. Go for it. M~
Nice, awesome idea for using the scraps, and the patterns look cool, especially that double striped one.
Thanks Ace. I can't wait to come up with more designs. M~
Awesome look!
Thank you!!
All I can say is.......wow!!!! Great idea!!
Now to buy one before they sell out lol!!!
Thanks Toby, I'll be posting new guitars soon. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars the other morning I was so excited to see what I won did I not do something right ?? Lmao 🤣
Very nice! I'm building my first fretless cbg for a customer and might try that. Great tip and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Fantacone. Good luck with your build. M~
Michael, You have excelled Once again.🍻
Thank you Phil. M~
Looks awesome. Actually may try this on my next fretted board as well.
Very cool 😎
Thank you, David. M~
...smokin'...👍
Matt
Thanks Matt. M~
Looking really good.
Thanks Flipped. M~
Michael thanks let me know what I need to do my real name is Lynn McDonald, 2flipped563 is my UA-cam channel .
Those look nice!
Thank you, Jermez. M~
That's a great idea and it looks really good, you could do that where each fret marker goes, two at the 12th fret 👍.
Thanks Scott. I have done that in a previous video. ua-cam.com/video/wBf2BlYOSDw/v-deo.html
very ingenious
Thank you William. M~
Those are beautiful
I liked the custom fret board
Thanks David. M~
They look great. Maybe another time can you make a batch with frets. ✌️🇦🇺
Thanks Guzzo, I may do that. M~
As always, excellant job!
Thank you Rawling. M~
Good idea!
Thank you, Steve. I can't wait to do some more. M~
Very nice lookin good 👍 👌
Thanks Harold. M~
Great way to get more usable wood out of what you buy. Lumber companies charge for all of it the fret board, the saw dust and the off cuts.
Very True, my friend. M~
I LIKE IT!
Thanks Mule Kick. M~
Awesome!!
Thanks! M~
looks cool 👍😀
Thanks, Gary. M~ 😎
Awesome idea, You could even cut one like an old jazz guitar neck where they used to use the lighter colour wood as fret markers.. 3rd fret, 5th, 7th etc..do ya get me ?
Great vid as... usual 👌🤗
Thanks Paul. Good info. I have done a video like that. ua-cam.com/video/wBf2BlYOSDw/v-deo.html
Oh yes 😂
As always 👍
Thanks again! doodles. M~
I love the fretboard, do you glue it one piece at a time? I’m pretty sure my pieces would be sliding all over the neck, it stresses me thinking about it 😂
Thanks. I let them sit in the glue for a bit till they get hard to move, then make sure their in place and clamp them down. Easier said than done though lol
An Oak (white) & Blood Wood (red) stripped fretboard would make a cool Candy Cane Fretboard. 😂
Michael, Do you prefer oak for your guitar necks? I’m having trouble finding straight boards at the big box stores. love these fretboards and the alternating wood types! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Tom. I use mostly oak, cause its more available where I'm at. Yeah. not east finding straight ones. M~
Looks great but I have a stupid question. Why does a fretless slider need a fretboard?
Thanks La. It adds the extra 1/4'' to the thickness of the neck for the perfect feel, plus it looks cool. lol
how do you keep them in place.as soon as I put the clamps on they move.
Let the glue sit a few minutes to set, then clamp. M~
~5:22, so that's your secret. All those thumbs to help line things up when you are gluing.
Thanks Len. Now you know. lol
Let me ask a question for you.
Would it be possible to make a four string guitar or even one with a longer neck?
My curiosity strikes me
Hi Richard. Yes. bot are possible. M~
well where is the finished cbg mr M.
It was in the next video ua-cam.com/video/OBmKMp5u-44/v-deo.html
