I am 84 a year old retired machinist, and I watch ,learn ,and enjoy your videos very much, you are great teacher and I have just finished my 1st 3string cigar box guitar and thanks to you it turned out rather nice, now all I have to do is learn to play it , and again with your help and videos I can.😊
You are not only a luthier you are an artist. I have learned so much from the little secrets that you share with us on your videos. Thanks for sharing.
my local cigar shop gave me a huge stack of cigar boxes as long as I build them a guitar - which I agreed to! now I have to actually do it! @@SouthernFireGuitars
I’ve been building jam stick style cigar guitars. You have some great tips. I will be implementing some very soon. I’m currently working one a faux tele jam stick using an award plaque as a body and actual stew Mac tele wiring. Definitely going to do inlays on the neck after watching this.
Nice video Michael! Enjoyed, as always. I like that you chose 2 different types of wood and alternated the fret marker colors. I had never seen that plug bit before. That's useful! Take care!
With you using shotgun shells for the knobs, how would the spent casing of a 9mm and 22 lr work for fret markers or the used primers on a different caliber that would it better and build it on a shotgun blasted cigar box guitar,I do believe you built those before,or go crazy on a ammo box.
Thanks Bro! I'm just starting to get into building. I think I want to purchase your !aster Class. Does it include building Boxes as well as using existing CBG Boxes?
Darren, I purchased Michael’s Master Class and am very happy with the step by step instruction. I find myself playing it many times throughout the process to make sure I’m doing everything correct. Almost done with my first CBG…. Can’t wait to string it up!

In my Pro Builder WorkShop I show step by step on how I build my necks. www.southernfireguitars.com/pro-builders-w
Enjoy the channel. Thanks very much.
Some great tips here Michael, thanks! The plug cutter is great for the dowels, gonna have to try that for sure

This was very helpful and if I could spell big words like entertaining I would say that it was very entertaining which kept me entertained!
Thanks Andy. LOL
Great stuff. I've just started making these things. All of your stuff is brilliant and highly educational for a beginner to the art. Thanks.
Thanks Steve. M~
Great tips!
Thanks for the tip! I am looking forward to the next video. Is there a video on the piece that the fretboard sits on - design & wood selection?

Thanks Chuck. Somewhere on my channel. M~
Another awesome video full of extremely useful information. I’ve learned so much from you ….. thank you!!
Thank you, Tom. M~
Looks good.
Nice
Great Video again
Looks awesome mate!
Also use plug cutters for fretmarkers, i like to aline the grain of the plugs with the fretboard grain, just a minor detail, ❤ your channel
Thanks Collin. M~

She's awesome!
@@davidozab2753 I saw her 5 times so far. I got 2 pictures taken with her, and 2 autographed CDs! She is awesome! 😎👍
You always have some creative ideas and you SHARE them. Thank you!
Do you ever go to any of the festivals?
Thanks Molly. I haven't been to a festival yet, M~
I love your video, I just subscribed!
Thanks Deb. I appreciate that. M~ 😎
The devil is in the details, and you do not disappoint! Very good tips! Thanks, Michael!
When using the belt sander, do you worry about making the fret board uneven sanding it down?
Not at all, because I'm only sanding the plugs flush to the neck.
Can you tell me how you do angle headstock ??? Or do you have info on how to do neck from scratch ???
I show everything in my Pro Builders WorkSHop, step by step www.southernfireguitars.com/
Looks gorgeous. As the Neanderthal guy I am, I just burn the fret marks with a hot nail. But I might one day be good enough to try your way, too. 😀
Thanks Marcel. M~ Give it a try. M~
Michael, Another Great Vlog.Still can't get into the PBW. Can you send me a link or anything to help..
Hi Phil, Sorry about that, I'll do some checking, can you send me an email to guitarandboots@yahoo.com
Thanks Michael! Great Vid! Curious as to why you stopped at the 15th fret and did not put a fret marker in the 17th? (too narrow?)
Thanks Dallin, Yes, a bit too narrow with a 5/16 marker for me.

Thanks Wayne, That's a good idea, I've thought about doing that, maybe soon. M~
Buster is having his life... while u r making fancy stuff.
What do you call that bit that you used to cut the plugs? Probably a plug cutter bit?
That is correct. Plug cutter bit. 😀
Hey Michael, what type of drill bit do you use for drilling holes in your fretboards?
He used a Forstner bit. It drills holes with a flat bottom. They also start easily and don't tend to wander.
What Bald Eagle said lol

Thanks Darren. In the WorkShop I use a Cigar Box for the build, but you can use the same methods with a homemade box. M~
Amazing!! I'll do it like that in my next CBG. BTW, what strings are you using? .11 or .12?
Thanks. Strings are 040 030 022
👍
Wear can I go to buy a nice 3 string just all most like the one that I had perches from you a long time ago
Hi Gary, my CBG's are available here www.southernfireguitars.com/
I would hate to make Buster mad by not leaving a comment ,,,,,,, it could be Bad !
Thanks, Your right HE would NOT like that. 😀

Yes, you can. M~
Why two on the 12th?
Hi Mike, most guitars have 2 at the 12th. M~ 😎
You lost Buster again? That’s going to look bad on your old resume. 😂😂😂
I see that when you make your necks you give it your awl
Yes. I do 😆
